Chapter 284: Chapter 284: Do Not Interfere
Who knew that his son and grandson would behave so absurdly. One involved himself in a string of relationships in the name of pursuing love.
The other would play the love game under the pretext of true love.
It’s ridiculous! Absurd!
"Both of us know about the situation with the Lynch Family back then. Can you assure me that the Eldest Miss from the Lynch Family really loves you? Or is she just after your money? She clearly has ulterior motives!"
Reactively, George River stood up and retorted, "Grandfather, Tiffany isn’t like that."
Old Sir River lifted his head to look at his grandson. Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, he slapped the table, "How did I raise such a grandson? Do you want to follow in your father’s footsteps and make me angry to death?"
"Grandfather, I was only..."
George River wanted to explain, but his grandfather cut him off, "That’s enough, I want you to return immediately to the River Clan headquarters to manage our business affairs. Stop competing with Arnold Simmons all the time. You’re not his match, you know that?"
Old Sir River was clearly furious.
Regardless of business acumen or strategy, Arnold Simmons was far better than George River. The old man understood this clearly. He would often reflect upon this fact.
Even if he were decades younger, he doubted he could compete with Arnold Simmons. As for his useless grandson... even less so!
After a long pause, George River released his clenched fists. "I definitely won’t let Arnold Simmons off the hook. Jimmy Simmons is my brother, but he’s still missing. Arnold Simmons must be the culprit, and also Jimmy’s parents." He knitted his brows, "Grandfather, we’ve always had relations with the Simmons Family. Jimmy also calls you ’grandfather.’ Why aren’t you asking anything about it?"
He didn’t understand, he truly didn’t.
Is the business world really devoid of friends and only focused on interests?
The stern expression on Old Sir River’s face remained unchanged. He glanced at George River, his voice even colder, "That’s the Simmons Family’s business. In business, there are winners and losers. Our kind of people, especially, should understand this. You are not allowed to interfere anymore. If Arnold Simmons decides to take the matter seriously, don’t expect this old man to beg for mercy on your behalf."
With these words, his position was made clear.
He wouldn’t interfere in a disagreement between Jimmy Simmons and Arnold Simmons, something that no businessman would do as it only leads to more trouble.
Old Sir River had fought his way up, his own efforts building up the River Family to what it is today. He was no fool.
But his grandson didn’t understand, and was provoked by his grandfather’s cold-blooded attitude.
However, under his grandfather’s strict upbringing from childhood, George River didn’t dare to talk back. He could only acquiesce, clenching his hands into fists, "I understand."
George River left.
Old Sir River watched his grandson’s retreating figure, his eyes full of disappointment.
The old housekeeper stepped out from the side, standing behind Old Sir River he lowered his voice, "Sir, the young master will one day understand your good intentions."
Old Sir River looked in the direction George River had left. Shaking his head, he said, "I raised my grandson, I know him. He’s learned nothing good, but somehow took on my bad temper. Sooner or later, someone will teach him a hard lesson, and it will be more effective than me nagging at him."
Old Sir River stood up and left the pavilion, the old housekeeper trailing behind him.
"If only Arnold Simmons wasn’t part of the Simmons Family, I wouldn’t mind having another son. The kid has a ruthless streak in his eyes. The first time I met him, I knew he wouldn’t be ordinary."
