Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Spending Money
Six million basically went down the drain.
The executives of Prideful Entertainment exchanged glances, their faces grim.
Elsewhere, a secretary diligently informed Arnold Simmons about George River’s moves.
Naturally, he also reminded Arnold that, according to the current growth trend, there was no need to worry about being overtaken even if no additional money was invested.
Arnold tapped his fingers on the table, his gaze fixed on the computer screen, which was showing a candid shot of Hannah.
The person on the screen was stunningly charming.
He spoke up, nonchalantly stating, "Ten million."
While winning was important, so was maintaining face.
Everything he did was to let certain people know that the girl from his family couldn’t be desired and crossed over casually by just anyone.
Hannah’s votes rebounded once again.
In the face of the disapproval from the other executives, George gritted his teeth, "Twelve million."
Tiffany Lynch barely surpassed it.
At this point, only the last thirty seconds remained until the theme song ended.
Arnold leaned back in his chair, his demeanor royal and leisurely, "Thirty million."
Thirty million, twelve million.
Arnold’s secretary couldn’t help admiring his boss’s spending spree, it seemed that he truly cherished Miss Winter to the moon.
He was willing to spend his weight in gold for the beauty’s favor.
This figure was far beyond George’s anticipation. According to Tiffany Lynch’s current score, he would need to triple this amount to possibly allow Tiffany to seat securely as the top.
After all, Hannah’s initial score was far ahead of Tiffany’s.
Everything Arnold did was just to show support for his girl.
George was not Arnold, and the decisions of the River family did not entirely rest on him. If not for his status as the only child, he would not have been able to maintain his position.
Just when George was about to raise the price again, a sound rang out in the meeting room, followed by panicked shouting.
The person who suddenly fainted was an old shareholder of the company who had worked with George’s grandfather when he was young and was considered an old friend. Now, he just kept an eye on things at Prideful Entertainment.
Being elderly and easily frightened, the previous figure shocked him, and George’s impulsiveness directly triggered his heart disease.
The whole meeting room plunged into chaos, and George’s plan to increase the bid was thoroughly disrupted.
The theme song officially ended.
Someone asked George what to do, he looked grim, his voice icy, "Call an ambulance immediately."
A few minutes later, rumors were circulating throughout the company that Director River had dropped a fortune for a newcomer and, as a result, one of the company’s shareholders had gone into cardiac arrest out of anger.
This shattered the unvoiced adoration of the female employees who once fancied George River.
One must indeed love deeply to go to such lengths.
Only George himself knew that he was like a man possessed at the time.
Every sum spent brought up Hannah’s face with every transaction.
The woman who showed her full charm in front of the camera.
She was living well, better off without him.
Yet he didn’t even know who was assisting Hannah behind his back.
But one thing was certain; that person was hardly skimping on Hannah.
But a simple competition cost forty-five million.
Even an ancient tyrant would hardly spend such a sum.
But who was that person?
George River closed his eyes, and the only person who came up in his mind was...
But he dared not believe it.
Could that person truly commit such an absurd act? Just for a woman he hasn’t known for long?
Was Hannah Winter really that great?
