Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Intense Competition
—— The show producers are throwing a curveball...
As everyone assembled, Jackie Qualls rose and walked to the center of the stage, script in hand. His voice, as warm as ever, started to speak, "I’m sure you all understand the rules of this PK challenge for the theme song. I won’t go into detail again. What we’re going to do next is separate you into groups according to your preferred PK partner that you’ve chosen previously."
Even before the recording began, the production crew had conducted preliminary interviews to find out who each trainee wanted to challenge.
Class A, being the top-tier trainees, had no choice in this challenge—they could only brace for the challenges to come their way.
The competition format was intense and mentally draining.
One false step could cause a trainee to plummet from Class A straight down to Class F.
They might not even get a chance to perform the theme song on stage.
—— The pressure on Class A is so immense.
—— Surely no trainee from Class F would dare to challenge someone from Class A, right? If someone from Class F won, wouldn’t everyone in that group be downgraded to Class F? Terrifying!
—— I wonder if Hannah Winter will challenge Tiffany Lynch this time. After all, anybody with eyes could tell that the first stage performance was rigged by the production crew!
—— In response to the previous comment, my Tiffany Lynch is in Class A for a reason. Good luck with your delusions!
—— No fighting, folks! As a neutral bystander, I’m looking forward to a rematch between Tiffany Lynch and Hannah Winter.
—— The downgrade due to lost challenge isn’t scary. What’s scarier is ending up in Class F because you challenged the same person as a Class F trainee!
According to the rules, apart from Class A trainees who can’t select their challengers, all other trainees can pick whom they wish to challenge. As such, according to the number of trainees in Class A, six large groups were formed, with each group having different numbers of trainees.
All the trainees in a group compete together, with each one being simultaneously showcased on the big screen. Regardless of the large participant numbers, it tests one thing—who in this crowd is front and center?
Ranks will be determined based on scores at the scene and online votes.
If a trainee ranks higher than the one they challenged, they’ll join the class of the defeated trainee. However, if a trainee loses the challenge or is successfully challenged, they will join the class of the lowest-ranking trainee in that group.
This means that, if the lowest-ranking trainee in your group is in Class C, the worst you can do is end up in Class C. But if the lowest-ranking trainee is Class F, you could end up directly in Class F.
Another scenario is if a trainee from Class F ranks first in the group, all others will be downgraded to Class F, a successful underdog story for the F trainee.
In essence, the penalties for each group are determined by their lowest-ranking trainee.
If you win, it’s an underdog story; if you lose, you could miss the chance to perform on stage.
While the rules are thrilling, the producers do not hesitate to add something in the fine print.
—— The final interpretation of these rules belongs to the show producers.
According to the group division made by the producers, Hannah was assigned to the third group.
Unsurprisingly, Hannah and Tiffany Lynch were in the same group.
Whether Hannah chose to challenge Tiffany Lynch or not will only be revealed at the final ranking announcement.
Although the theme song PK challenge hadn’t officially begun, one could already foresee a significant shuffle in the ranks.
