Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Reaping the Bitter Fruits of One’s Actions

She had put enough on the table to convince anyone looking to take shortcuts and minimize their struggle.

The Vice President was not in a hurry, busying herself with her own affairs.

She was confident that she could win Louis Snyder over. Seeing the innocent young man sitting there, she was getting impatient.

Louis sat there, his head down, his face pale and his fists clenched, revealing his suppressed emotions.

The role he had in ’Falling Spring’ was attained through Hannah Winter.

As for how Hannah managed to get it, he didn’t care. Even if she exchanged her body for it, he didn’t mind.

However, if one day, such a thing happened to him...

He’d been in this field for almost three years and had made no splash. Everything he did was just to get closer to Tiffany, to stand by her side.

But what could he use to compete against George River?

George is wealthy, has family connections, and could easily sweep up numerous envy-inducing opportunities for Tiffany. But Tiffany was stubbornly independent and refused to accept George’s help.

Tiffany wanted to make it on her own; he was there to accompany her.

But he longed to protect her, just as George River could.

But now, on what ground?

Even his current resources relied on exploiting Hannah Winter, the silly woman. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Hannah Winter...

The young man silently murmured the name. Suddenly, the wound that had already started to heal at his back seemed to ache faintly.

In front of his eyes reappeared that night... under the warm yellow light, her fair profile, the warmth and care in her eyes.

Louis had decided in his heart and shadows appeared on his face. He stood up.

The Vice President looked up at him, "Have you made up your mind?"

"Yes," Louis nodded vaguely, pretending not to understand the implications in her words, "I think the previous contract suits me well."

"What did you say?" The Vice President was shocked, evidently not expecting Louis to refuse.

Others she had fancied, though unhappy, still obediently complied with her in the end.

Now, having been turned down, the Vice President felt she had lost face, her anger rising, "Louis Snyder, don’t be ungrateful!"

Louis played dumb, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first."

"Louis Snyder!" The Vice President smacked the desk, "Don’t forget, you’re still a part of the company. I can freeze your career anytime I want."

Despite the threat, Louis remained resolute, committed to his decision.

The Vice President seethed with rage and gritted through her teeth, "In that case, you might as well take a break!"

Without changing his expression, Louis left the room.

The moment he stepped out of the company building, looking back at the towering skyscraper, he finally caught his breath.

There are some things he would never do in his life.

True to her words, within one day, the Vice President halted all he had in progress and transferred scripts meant for Louis to other artists in the company.

Louis was stripped of resources.

He had exploited Hannah to get precious resources but now ended up paying for his actions.

Still, he refused to give up. He knew that Tiffany would participate in a talent show and might have a promising future. He did not want to lag too far behind Tiffany. For his love, who he saw as the pure white moonlight, he returned to his old life of taking bit roles in shows.
