Chapter 1304: Chapter 1304: Be Careful

To take home, just for oneself to see.

Arnold Simmons had the same thought.

He laughed again and lowered his head to seek that touch of warmth, softness, and sweet clinginess, "Mmm, I am yours."

For a lifetime.

*

One month later.

During a break from a magazine shoot, the assistant Lowe brought over Hannah’s cell phone.

"Sister Winter, someone sent you a text message."

Hannah reached out to take it.

She opened it.

It was from an unfamiliar number.

——Congratulations. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Just those simple two words.

Normally, Hannah would have dismissed it as spam, but this message was followed by a name.

Jackie Qualls.

It had been half a year since he had left.

Hannah had nearly forgotten about him.

After some thought, she still replied with a thank you.

Before long, a call came through.

An international call.

The voice of Jackie Qualls was as always smooth and gentle, "The results for the Best Actress award are out, congratulations, Hannah."

Hannah was still a bit slow to react.

The announcement of the results was supposed to be in three days.

Realizing Hannah’s confusion, Jackie Qualls offered an explanation.

After he had gone abroad, he continued to be a film producer leveraging his previous connections and adeptly re-established his network within the film industry,

utilizing his twice-lived delicate sensibilities.

Among this film festival’s jurors were his friends.

When he found out Hannah was in the running, he had asked someone to keep him informed so he could be the first to know of any news.

Judging the Best Actress, Jackie was even more anxious than Hannah.

The final result, indeed, was as he expected.

Hannah didn’t know what to say and just thanked him again.

There was a moment of silence.

Hearing Hannah’s voice again, even if it was just a simple pair of words, Jackie involuntarily smiled; yet within that smile lay nostalgia and bitterness.

Once his emotions had settled, he spoke again, "I already know about the situation with the River Family and the Yarn Family. Although it might be somewhat inappropriate for me to say this, I hope you’ll be cautious around these two."

The River Clan was still deep in crisis, while not directly bankrupt, their assets had shrunk by more than half, and their future prospects were not looked upon favorably.

The Yarn Family’s progress, on the other hand, had improved a lot, thanks to a good decision by Oliver Quach; except for Roy Yarn and Louis Snyder, the rest of the Yarn family had moved abroad.

All of this was vastly different from the previous life Jackie remembered.

Yet he still felt a subtle unease.

It wasn’t concern for himself, but for Hannah.

"I understand, thank you for the warning, I’ll be careful."

Their conversation was more like a polite exchange of pleasantries.

Nevertheless, Jackie still felt at ease.

Before long, he heard sounds from the other end of the phone, likely the crew signaling that they were ready for Hannah.

He initiated once more, "I won’t keep you then. If there’s anything you need help with in the future, I’m willing."

Hannah’s response was still, "Thank you."

Even so, Jackie was content.

After hanging up, Jackie instinctively looked up at his reflection in the mirror.

Apparently, the urge to cry earlier wasn’t false.

He held back the tears, but his eyes reddened.

He shook his head, chortling.

Just then, one of Jackie’s friends approached and noticed his slightly downcast mood, he couldn’t help but tease, "Qualls, are you really not thinking about finding a girlfriend?"
