Chapter 1248: Chapter 1248: Don’t deceive me

The doctor took the needle, ready to draw blood.

Hannah didn’t speak, obediently rolling up her sleeve, very cooperative.

The slender needle seemed to emit a cold light under the illumination, dazzling to the eyes and unsettling to the heart.

Hannah lowered her hand, no longer hugging Arnold, just bowing her head by herself, her long eyelashes trembling slightly, her nose uncontrollably twitching.

As if she were silently shedding tears.

The sight of the girl crying quietly softened the heart of the nurse who was in charge of disinfection.

Arnold’s hands, which he had kept behind his back, gradually clenched tight, his thin lips pressed firmly together, but in the end, he gave in, "That’s enough for today."

The doctor had already said it was just a common cold, but he was not reassured and insisted on another test.

With that statement, the doctor quickly packed up and left.

The hospital room became quiet again.

Arnold looked down at Hannah sitting on the hospital bed.

She sat there as tears fell one by one, splashing on the sheets. Her whole persona was sad and dejected, silently curled up into a ball, not saying a word.

Arnold sat down next to the bed, his hand reaching out halfway before drawing it back in, "Don’t cry, I’ve sent them all away."

Hannah looked up and glared at him, her tearful eyes dark and bright, not at all intimidating, rather making her seem inexplicably well-behaved.

Arnold opened his arms, his voice low and pleasant, with a coaxing tone, "Come here."

Hannah instinctively wanted to go over but after catching herself, she stubbornly turned her head away, refusing to look at him.

She wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand, "No, you want to draw my blood."

Arnold was silent for a moment, then softened his voice, "It’s not me, it’s the doctor."

He gave her a very reasonable explanation.

But the current Hannah was not the same as her delirious self from that night, quite difficult to deceive.

"It was you who let the doctor draw my blood."

Her eyes were red, her little face was covered with tears, and her soft, slightly hoarse voice gave her stern words the air of a clawing and biting kitten.

All bite and claws but no threat.

Arnold bowed his head, his large hand covering her small, soft hand, whispering into her ear with a voice that was incredibly tempting, "Yeah, it’s my fault."

In front of her, he never minded lowering his stature.

Hannah turned to look at him, feeling aggrieved, "I’ve already had one check-up, how could you let me go through it again."

One test equaled one blood draw, another one would mean yet another draw.

"You should trust the doctor’s words, I really just have a common cold." She quietly moved a bit closer, Arnold sensed it and without a word, reached out and pulled her into his embrace.

Lighter than before.

Arnold looked down, his eyes landing on her pale little face, his hand wiping away the undried tears, "Yeah, I know." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

It was just a common cold.

She stretched her body in his arms, then snuggled into a new comfortable position, lightly tapping his chin with her hand, meeting his deep, profound gaze.

Her gentle, soft voice asked him, "Arnold, are you scared?"

Arnold took her finger that was touching his chin, gently pinching it, using the warmth of his palm to chase away the chill on her fingertips, "No."

Hannah shifted upward a bit, sitting up straighter, looking into his eyes, "Really not scared?"

She looked at him with bright, clear eyes that seemed to peer straight into his heart.

"Don’t lie to me."

She added slowly.
