Chapter 1192: Chapter 1192: It Might Be True
"Just the other day, I went for coffee with people from the office and overheard employees from the River Clan discussing it at the next table."
The person spoke out of the blue again about Anna seducing George River. Although the details were not elaborated, the central idea expressed was singular.
It was that George River also liked Hannah.
Someone exclaimed, "Two inside the circle, two outside, how many more suitors does Hannah Winter have after all? Is she some kind of Mary Sue? Might as well open a harem."
No sooner had the voice fallen than the door to the break room was abruptly pushed open from the outside.
The significant noise startled everyone, prompting them to quickly turn around.
It was Hank Ward.
Jimmy Simmons’ capable assistant.
"All of you loitering here with nothing better to do?"
Hank, originally a bodyguard, radiated an aura of deadly seriousness when he kept a stern face.
There were even rumors within the company that Mr. Ward’s hands were stained with blood.
Startled by his shout, everyone dared not linger, leaving their coffee untouched and their sunflower seeds uncracked, swiftly making their way out one by one.
Not even daring to greet each other.
As the people left, the break room emptied.
Only then did the always stern-faced Hank soften his expression, turning to face Jimmy who stood aside, his demeanor respectful.
Just now, due to the angle, no one had noticed Jimmy standing to the side.
The man was looking down, his drooping eyes unclear, his voice teasing, "Pining for your little aunt-in-law?"
Where there’s a crowd, gossip invariably follows—a timeless rule.
Though they were all employees of the same company, regulating so many people’s idle talk wasn’t feasible.
Nevertheless, this bit of gossip was rather...
Hank couldn’t quite articulate it, but he vaguely felt that Jimmy’s current state seemed a bit off.
He had been assigned by Old Sir Simmons to work as Jimmy’s bodyguard from a very early age.
Back then, Jimmy was only a teenager, yet he had a rebellious streak, defying everyone. His speech and behavior all carried a chillingly ruthless edge.
Especially after the old man passed away, Jimmy became even more unpredictable and prone to irritability, with breaking objects or hitting people being mere trifles.
Jimmy was not like Arnold Simmons; his ruthlessness was overt, direct.
Arnold’s cruelty, on the other hand, was oppressive; by the time people realized what was happening, the crisis would already be upon them, leaving no escape.
Compared to Arnold, Jimmy appeared much greener.
This naivety was evident when he initially confronted Arnold directly about the cause of his parents’ death.
But Jimmy now...
Seemed as if he had suppressed all the ferocity within him, giving off a more sinister vibe.
Unable to ascertain Jimmy’s attitude, Hank could only say, "Young Master Simmons, all these are just idle rumors spread within the company."
How could Jimmy possibly get involved with Arnold’s people.
Especially with that person being Arnold’s fiancée, Jimmy’s future little aunt-in-law.
Jimmy suddenly laughed, a hint of malice emerging on his roguish face.
He reached out and patted Hank’s shoulder, "Rumors, how do you know they’re rumors? Maybe they’re true?"
Hank was taken aback, "Young Master Simmons, could it be you really...?"
"Shh." The man put his index finger to his lips, signaling for silence, "How is the south city project coming along?"
Despite his shock, Hank saw that Jimmy had brought up a serious matter and could only respond, "The plan is on schedule, the River Clan has already taken on the project."
Jimmy chuckled softly, "As long as they have taken it on, all my efforts won’t be in vain."
