Chapter 1159: Chapter 1159: The Light Bulb

She walked over, like a flower blown down by the wind, landing right before my eyes.

"Ah, my little nephew, you’re here too?" Hannah linked her arm into Arnold’s, waving at Jimmy in front of her, "Were you having a heart-to-heart with your uncle?"

Jimmy’s gaze shifted from Arnold to Hannah, and after a moment of silence, he finally said, "You could say that."

Arnold placed his hand on Hannah’s slightly cool shoulder. The palm of his hand was warm and dry, continuously transferring warmth to her.

"Has the banquet ended?"

With a bend in her brows and eyes, Hannah’s hand naturally rested on Arnold’s waist as she looked up at him, "Not yet, but it should be soon."

After she spoke, she turned to Jimmy, "On my way here, I saw George seemed to be having trouble; don’t you think you should go and check on him?"

This was her way of telling him to leave.

Jimmy, the lightbulb, was indeed a bit too bright.

Yet Jimmy, oblivious to the disdain in Hannah’s words, simply said, "George’s business doesn’t concern me."

Hannah found it odd, "Aren’t you guys good brothers?"

Jimmy answered, "That was in the past."

Hannah felt that Jimmy, the lightbulb, was already affecting her mood.

She didn’t want to talk to him anymore.

As for George’s business, it wasn’t something she’d made up.

On her way over, she had seen Anna entangling George.

He was acting quite odd, probably drugged with something, just like in the original story.

Anna was trying to take George away, but after all, he was a grown man. She couldn’t move him, and with so many people nearby, she couldn’t make too much of a scene.

In an urgent, hushed voice, "Director River, you seem unwell; I’ll take you to rest for a while."

She had driven here today, all to facilitate her own plans.

But who knew George would be so uncooperative? His mind was cloudy, yet he still refused to leave, especially after spotting Hannah.

He had only glanced at her from afar, but George began to run towards her like a madman, his eyes filled with longing and adoration.

To stop him, Anna broke the heel of her high-heeled shoe, her complexion turning pale and ugly.

But the commotion still alerted those around them.

When Hannah left, guests had already gathered around, and even the house servants had come to check the situation. Meanwhile, worried about being exposed, Anna didn’t even think before running away.

Indeed, even without the heroine, the villainess from the original storyline still failed to succeed.

Hannah looked at Jimmy, the lightbulb still shining, and then resolutely pulled Arnold to head home.

Her long dress was a bit inconvenient, and she had to hold it up as she walked.

The only difference was, she had held it herself on the way there, whereas now Arnold was holding it for her.

The tall man bent down, his actions gentlemanly and restrained.

It wasn’t until their figures disappeared into the night that the smile on Jimmy’s face completely vanished.

He reached into his pocket for a lighter, lit a cigarette, and then dialed a number on his phone.

Soon after, the other side replied, saying George had been drugged and was now being taken to the hospital.

Jimmy hung up the phone and scoffed, "Idiot."

George fainting at the banquet didn’t become widespread knowledge.

Out of respect for the River Family’s status, even those who whispered did so sparingly. A few in the know held back their words, only jesting among themselves in private.

After all, such an incident involving George was quite unexpected.
