Chapter 1130: Chapter 1130: The Southern City Project

Jimmy Simmons lowered his head and lit the cigarette in his hand.

He didn’t speak, just watched the cigarette burning between his fingers, inhaling the faint scent of tobacco in the air, tinged with a burning warmth.

Finally, the silence was broken.

Jimmy Simmons spoke up, "The Simmons Clan has no plans to compete for this development project."

His words were casual and offhand, a sarcastic smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

The Simmons Clan was never his to dictate alone. On the surface, those people were respectful, feigning a facade of loyalty, but when it came down to it, they were all just a bunch of old fellows driven by self-interest.

Whoever could bring them greater benefits, they would heed.

Clearly, that person would only be Arnold Simmons.

The few old shareholders who had squawked about Arnold’s impure lineage had been dealt with by Arnold himself, now too scared to even fart.

A bunch of fools.

George River wasn’t surprised by Jimmy Simmons’s response, "It seems that your situation in the Simmons Clan isn’t very good."

There was no sarcasm in his words.

After all, they were brothers for many years. Although they had fallen out at one point, some semblance of camaraderie remained.

Jimmy Simmons was notorious for his bad temper, and few people dared to make such teasing remarks in front of him.

All feared being hit by him.

When Jimmy Simmons threw punches, he really tried to hurt, and many who had seen it still retained a certain psychological shadow.

"So, it seems you’re quite interested in that project in the southern city?"

Jimmy Simmons was still nonchalant when discussing serious matters.

George River knew him, so he didn’t mind this, "If we can secure the southern city project, it would definitely be a significant boost to our plan."

They had a common enemy to confront.

As long as that remained unchanged, their cooperation would never be broken.

Jimmy Simmons extinguished the cigarette in his hand and met George River’s gaze, a serious look in his eyes, "What are you planning to do?"

Outside the window, the rain grew heavier.

The wind drove the rain against the transparent glass, quickly fogging up the windows.

Exiting the recording studio, it was nearing two in the morning.

Hannah leaned wearily against the car window. She hadn’t had time to remove her makeup, just changing her clothes.

She leaned against the window and wiped away the fog on the glass.

Warm yellow light from outside streamed in. Raindrops fell into the light and hit the window, fast and furious, as if trying to invert the entire city.

Jack Stewart had the assistant switch to a more soothing music track and draped a coat over Hannah.

Lately, Hannah had been swamped with engagements. Even though Jack had declined most of them, the remaining schedule was still packed full.

Finding extra time to rest was nearly impossible.

Jack originally wanted to persuade Hannah to give up a few shootings that weren’t compulsory but Hannah had refused.

An unexpected surge in effort and professionalism.

Because she said, "I need to make money faster..."

Faster at what?

Hannah thought about it and then smiled, "Faster at making money."

She blinked her eyes, her smile impeccable despite a full day of continuous work.

Jack was left with no choice but to compromise.

After all, even the big shots of the Simmons Family couldn’t manage her, so what could he say?

The road back was rough, probably due to nearby construction.

Hannah bumped against the window several times. It wasn’t hard, just a gentle sound, but it still hurt after a while.

Yet she seemed slow to react, merely yawning and then murmuring softly, "I’m so sleepy."
