Chapter 1104: Chapter 1104: Let Him Have a Try

"Louis, I made you some soup. Would you try a sip?"

Louis Snyder didn’t answer; he just said, "When I was a kid, life at home was tough. My father would get drunk and hit people, sometimes me, sometimes my mother. The house was always a mess; occasionally, when neighbors complained, my mother would hug me and hide in the room."

He recited each word slowly, his youthful voice still slightly green and hoarse.

Grace Yarn could only listen halfway before she couldn’t help but tear up.

Louis heard the quiet sobs beside him, his eyes calm, but with a hint of scorn at the corner of his mouth.

Grace, unable to speak through her tears, said, "Louis, it’s my fault. If I had found you earlier, you wouldn’t have had to suffer so much."

She took all the blame upon herself.

Too much time had passed since that solitary act of rebellion when she jumped into the sea.

After that, there were countless reconciliations.

Reconciling with her parents, with Lynn Yarn who had run away from home, and with the rebellious younger sister in her memories.

The only one she hadn’t reconciled with was herself.

She reached out to embrace the boy beside her, but seeing the unease in his eyes, she withdrew her hand, comforting him, "It’s okay, Louis. We’ll take good care of you from now on. You won’t suffer anymore. Could you stop being sad, please?"

Louis nodded, no more words spoken.

He wasn’t sad.

When his father was drunk, he would hit him, and so would his mother.

Occasionally, when things were normal, they would sit down for a meal like any other family, but it often ended halfway with someone starting a fight.

What began with verbal abuse would escalate to physical violence.

After a quarrel, he would always be the one with the most bruises.

So, why would he feel sad for such people?

Grace thought that these were sad matters for Louis, akin to childhood traumas, so she didn’t probe further.

But before she left, she reminded him to drink the soup.

Louis nodded obediently, but as soon as the door closed, he turned around and poured out the soup.

He disliked other people’s false kindness.

Grace didn’t know any of this and simply went back to her room that evening to discuss with Oliver Quach about getting Louis involved with the Yarn Family enterprise.

Oliver was peeling an orange for Grace. Hearing her suggestion, his eyelid twitched, "What made you think of that?"

Grace sighed on the sofa, "I just feel like it’s too exhausting for Louis to struggle alone in the entertainment industry, and there’s not much we as a family can do to help."

Oliver tried a piece of the orange before feeding it to Grace, "I think it’s pretty good. I’ve heard that stars can earn tens of millions for a single film, which is quicker money than the average business."

Grace slapped the back of his hand, "I’m being serious with you."

Oliver smiled, "I know what you’re thinking, but you can’t rush these things. Business isn’t simple, and besides, Louis has no experience."

"I know he doesn’t have experience. That’s why I want him to give it a try. It’s got to be better than having to please people in the entertainment industry."

Saying this, Grace couldn’t help but furrow her brows again.

She was genuinely worried.

Previously, Shu Bai’s single viral video had drawn so much criticism, and it pained her greatly. And Louis, who was actively involved in the entertainment industry, must be facing far worse.

Oliver had come to understand what kind of person Louis was inside.
