Chapter 1082: Chapter 1082: Childhood Sweethearts

Roy Yarn looked down, contemplative.

"So, you and her have been playing together since you were kids?"

Hayes Edwards touched his nose and coughed twice, "Pretty much."

Roy Yarn nodded, his slow-witted appearance making him seem very obedient, and he spoke with utter seriousness, "Is it the kind where you play at your house and she plays at hers?"

Hayes Edwards’ leg shook, and he almost fell right off his chair. Scrambling to sit up straight, he glared at Roy Yarn. "Are you mocking me?"

Roy Yarn quickly waved his hands as if he were a good student threatened by a school bully, "Sorry, that’s not what I meant."

Hayes Edwards snorted and turned his head to look at Hannah, who was surrounded by people, then back at Roy Yarn.

Suddenly, he blurted out, "Hey, do you like Hannah Winter?"

Roy Yarn was startled and his gaze inadvertently fell on Hannah.

She must have heard a compliment she liked, as she started to smile. With light makeup on, her face was full of innocence, lacking the inherent flirtatious charm that lay between her brows and eyes.

Even the older folks nearby began to affectionately call her "Hannah."

Roy Yarn looked away, only to meet Hayes Edwards’ gaze again, and he couldn’t help but blush.

His personality was naturally introverted and shy, prone to blushing, especially when facing Hannah.

This time, as Hayes Edwards caught sight of it, the redness in his face couldn’t be suppressed, spreading to his ears.

He seemed as innocent as a green young lad.

Hayes Edwards thought to himself, but he said out loud, "Don’t even think about it; she already has a boyfriend, and maybe in two more years, she’ll even have a child. When the kid calls you ’Uncle,’ you better not harbor feelings for their mom."

These words seemed to be spoken as much for others as for himself.

They were laced with incredibly complex emotions.

After dinner, someone suggested heading to the hotel’s rooftop bar for a few drinks.

After all, for the young folks, it was still early.

Only the two elder seniors couldn’t keep up, smiling and waving their hands, "You young people have good health; we two old folks won’t join your ruckus, we’re going to our rooms to rest. Hannah is still a lady, don’t let her drink too much."

Everyone nodded, waiting for the two elders to leave first before heading upstairs together.

The rooftop bar was open-air and not too bustling at the moment.

The weather in May or June, when night falls and the breeze blows, still carries a chilling touch.

Luckily, the atmosphere was warm and a few drinks were enough to chase away the chill.

This time, Hayes Edwards seized the opportunity to sit next to Hannah, protecting her from several toasts from others.

Roy Yarn remained quiet as always. Probably because he was normally so polite and introverted, nobody really went out of their way to trouble him that much.

After one round of urging and his refusal, everyone just let it be.

Hannah wasn’t drunk, just a touch flushed as if rouge had been lightly dusted on her face; her soft, misty eyes seemed to carry the glow of affection, even at the corners.

Resting her head on the back of the chair, her eyes lifted slightly, her gaze landed precisely on Roy Yarn’s face, her sparkling smile intoxicating, "Looks like you’ve learned to turn people down."

Roy Yarn didn’t know where to settle his gaze and finally settled on the fuzzy top of Hannah’s head, softly responding, "Uh-huh, getting drunk isn’t safe."

She smiled, her head tilted, her loose hair falling perfectly onto her arm, her smile tender, "How are you getting along with Louis Snyder?"

After confirming Louis Snyder’s identity, the Yarn Family had once held a family meeting.
