Chapter 1030: Chapter 1030 Perfect Disguise
Over two years had passed, and upon reflection, Jack Stewart now seemed more like the man she had first known.
He didn’t linger in one place for long.
Hannah looked down at the time and finally got up to leave.
After she left, Jack Stewart, who had been hiding behind the curtain, let out a sigh and turned to leave as well.
*
In the empty corridor, faint footsteps sounded from behind.
Hannah walked on as usual. Halfway through, she stopped and said softly, "Haven’t left yet? Waiting here for me?"
The man stopped in his tracks.
She turned around, facing the figure mostly hidden in the shadows, her gaze pausing momentarily.
Then she regained her composure and said indifferently, "So it’s you."
Jackie Qualls then stepped forward. As the shadows fell away from him, he looked up, revealing a face as smooth and radiant as jade.
He spoke gently, "Who did you think it was just now?"
"I thought..." She stopped mid-sentence, her tone nonchalant, "Never mind, it’s not important. After all, you’re all the same. Did you need something from me?"
She looked up at him, a faint smile playing on her lips. Beneath that, there was a sense of indifference and detachment.
Jackie shifted his gaze away as the corners of his mouth slowly dropped, but his voice remained as gentle and soft as ever, "Louis Snyder has returned to the Yarn Family. Did you know about that?"
Hannah paused, then laughed, "Mr. Qualls, were you an intelligence officer in your past life?"
Jackie looked up again, meeting her clear eyes, and couldn’t help but smile, "No."
She chuckled lightly and turned to look at the bright weather outside the window. The sunlight streaming in bathed her in warmth, concentrating a beautiful yet illusory light in the depths of her eyes.
He came back to his senses, recalling the purpose of his visit, and became serious, "I just came to warn you to be careful around Louis Snyder."
It was when he had seen the way Louis Snyder looked at her from the audience that he remembered certain events from the past.
In his previous life, after Louis had returned to the Yarn Family, his personality underwent what seemed like a major transformation.
Or perhaps it wasn’t a transformation, but rather a gradual revelation of his true nature.
The way he dealt with the Yarn Family, even when he had only heard people talk about it in his previous life, made him unconsciously frown, feeling that the young man was too ruthless.
But these matters were not related to him, and so he didn’t care.
What he truly cared about was Louis’s obsession and possessiveness over Tiffany Lynch in his previous life.
This time, however, it might be directed at Hannah.
That’s why he couldn’t resist coming over to warn Hannah.
"Why?" Hannah looked up, her gaze falling on the man in front of her, while the corners of her eyes caught the dark corner where nothing could be seen clearly.
It was as if her curiosity was genuine, or perhaps she asked deliberately, waiting for his answer.
Jackie was silent for a moment, his brows knit and his expression solemn. Still, he voiced his thoughts, "Although Louis is young, he’s not lacking in ambition and cunning. For a young man his age who has achieved what he has now, his career in show business takes precedence over everything. He might be attached to you, he might express his love, but all of that is predicated on not touching his interests."
He hinted enough and said no more.
Hannah simplified his words and got straight to the point, the key issue, "So, you think Louis might harm me?"
Jackie fell silent, but his eyes conveyed everything.
From the beginning, he had chosen to conceal the truth about reliving his life from Hannah, which doomed all subsequent closeness and concern to be covered up with silence and lies.
