Chapter 1008: Chapter 1008: Cutting Off Old Ties

It wasn’t until someone approached from behind that he snapped back to reality, his eyes growing even more somber, "It’s time to move our plan forward."

George River didn’t agree or disagree, instead, he reminded, "Don’t forget what you promised me."

Jimmy Simmons turned his head, looking at George River with a hint of mockery in his gaze, and patted his shoulder, "We are brothers after all, over a woman, of course, I will help you."

George River detected the disdain in Jimmy Simmons’s words and frowned, "Hannah is different from the other women."

"Of course, she’s different," Jimmy Simmons withdrew his hand, as if recalling something, and said deliberately, "After all, she belongs to Arnold Simmons."

George River was silent for a few seconds, anger flaring in his eyes, but it was just a moment before he suppressed it himself.

Calmly he said, "There’s no need to test me, since I’ve agreed to collaborate with you, then Arnold Simmons is also my enemy."

Jimmy Simmons smiled, "That’s good to hear."

Ever since their last falling out, the relationship between the two had severed all past bonds; their cooperation was simply based on the utility value they saw in each other.

They were similar in temperament, but due to different environments as they grew up, George River had developed a bit more restraint compared to Jimmy Simmons.

After confirming some details for the steps ahead, just as he was about to leave, George River suddenly asked, "How has Tiffany been recently?"

At the familiar nickname, Jimmy Simmons paused in the motion of lighting a cigarette.

The next second, the cigarette was lit, and through the smoke, his eyes narrowed slightly as he leaned back casually, his voice tinged with sarcasm, "It seems she wasn’t wrong about you being a heartless philanderer. What, have you started to miss an old flame?"

Both knew exactly who "she" was.

George River adjusted his tie and ignored Jimmy Simmons’s mockery, maintaining his elegant and aloof demeanor, "The last time we met, she brought up the matter with the Lynch Family from back then. Did you tell her about it?"

Jimmy Simmons threw away the lighter in his hand and casually picked up a glass of wine from the table, "Consider it a favor to help you get over your past fling, no need to thank me."

In reality, apart from the Lynch Family themselves, hardly anyone cared about their affairs. If there were to be one more person, it would probably be George River.

But that was only when he still held feelings for Tiffany Lynch.

After all, in business, tides turn every so often. Today you make a fortune, tomorrow someone else does, it’s all unpredictable.

Moreover, the Lynch Family’s assets were not considerable to begin with; they just loved to hold themselves in high esteem.

After a windfall, they really thought themselves business prodigies and started acting high and mighty, heading toward bankruptcy eventually.

As for the alleged incitement and division of the Lynch assets by the River Family and the Simmons Family, such matters were far too common.

The reason Jimmy Simmons had initially pinned all the blame on the River Family was indeed because he had developed some feelings for Tiffany Lynch and wanted to cut off any potential between them.

But now, it seemed superfluous.

George River was unaware of Jimmy Simmons’s true thoughts, and still harbored a bit of past affection, "If you truly care for her, treat her well."

Jimmy Simmons had always thought his friend liked to put on a show, and now, it seemed he wasn’t just a pretender, but also not very bright.

But this was precisely the scenario he delighted in seeing and, by doing so, he tacitly acknowledged his own feelings for Tiffany Lynch.

As long as George River believed that the person he, Jimmy Simmons, cared for was Tiffany Lynch.
