Chapter 5766 Uncontrollable

These violet chains were too fast, instantly binding Long Chen the moment they appeared.

“What are you doing?!” Long Chen shouted, struggling crazily.

But no matter how he fought, he found himself utterly powerless in this strange space.

“Struggling is meaningless. Since you bear the bloodline of the violet blood race, your fate is sealed. You will be slaughtered here today,” the middle-aged man said coldly.

“That again? Why do you always resort to threats of killing?” the woman beside him scoffed.

That man was speechless. He said, “This little fellow is too rude. What’s wrong with scaring him a little?”

“His killing intent is so heavy. Do you think you can scare him? Stop wasting time and get to work. If our descendants sent him here, there must be a reason,” the woman said impatiently.

Suddenly, violet flames erupted around Long Chen, their searing heat scorching even his soul. An unbearable pain wracked his body.

“You old fogeys, what the hell are you up to?!” cursed Long Chen.

“Old fogeys?”

The group exchanged confused glances. They didn’t understand the term, but judging by Long Chen’s expression, it clearly wasn’t a compliment.

“AH!”

Long Chen roared as black runes surfaced on his body. A surge of Ghost Qi billowed forth, sending chills down their spines.

“As expected, there really is a problem! It’s the Ghost Sovereign’s mark!”

“You little brat, how do you have the Ghost Sovereign’s mark on you?!” one of them shouted.

“None of your damn business! Let me go!” Long Chen barked.

“This child has lost his mind. The Ghost Sovereign’s mark will turn him into its puppet sooner or later. Don’t be afraid, we will help you remove it,” one of the ancestors said, his tone surprisingly gentle as if comforting Long Chen.

“Afraid my ass! I’m keeping it! I have major plans for it!” Long Chen roared in frustration.

“What nonsense are you talking about? This thing will take your life. No disciple of the violet blood race should be tainted by such filth—it’s an insult to our lineage!” the stern middle-aged man retorted.

“Hey, stop messing around! This thing is actually useful to me!” Long Chen protested as he saw them preparing to act.

The Ghost Sovereign’s mark had appeared on him back when he was on the Ghost Ship. At the time, he had been too weak to even notice it. Later, during a breakthrough, a sliver of his blood soul energy had been extracted by the mark. Initially, he had intended to resist it, but the Dragon Sovereign actually told him to leave it be, describing it as the planting of a seed. Even now, he was waiting to reap that harvest.

Back then, he hadn't understood the reasoning. But as his cultivation deepened, he gradually grasped the Dragon Sovereign’s intent. The Ghost Sovereign’s mark was a connection—if it was erased, the blood soul power he had invested would be lost as well.

Seeing that his ancestors were determined to remove it, Long Chen turned green with panic. He roared, “I don’t need your good intentions! This mark is mine! I’ve invested in it!”

But Long Chen’s shouts fell on deaf ears. They were convinced he had lost his sanity to the Ghost Sovereign’s influence.

“Don’t waste words. If we don’t save him now, it will be too late,” said one of the ancestors.

Seeing Long Chen struggling fiercely, his eyes burning with defiance, they mistook his resistance for the Ghost Sovereign’s will trying to fight back.

Long Chen was furious. Yet, no matter how much strength he summoned, he was powerless. This strange space had stripped him of all his abilities—even his connection to the Earth Cauldron and Evilmoon was severed.

Just as they were about to erase the Ghost Sovereign mark, a noble, majestic will appeared.

BOOM!

The violet chains binding Long Chen shattered in an instant. The ancestors stared at him in shock.

“That’s...”

Their expressions shifted dramatically. Slowly, they fell to their knees.

Long Chen was about to curse at them furiously when he saw this.

The sacred will faded as quickly as it had appeared, and the world returned to normal.

“Uh... Well, you guys did wrong me first, but since you're ancestors of the violet blood race, I really can’t accept you kneeling like this,” Long Chen said awkwardly.

In his fury, he hadn’t even realized what had happened. He had simply struggled with all his might, and then—somehow—an invisible force had erupted from within him, obliterating the chains. He suspected the primal chaos bead had sensed that he was in danger and intervened.

The ancestors slowly rose. This time, when they looked at Long Chen, their gazes were filled with deep reverence.

“Since you insist on keeping the Ghost Sovereign’s mark, we will not interfere,” their leader finally said. “However, I must warn you—the mark will erode your will and feed your heart-devil as you grow stronger. Do not let it consume you.”

Long Chen nodded. “Junior understands. I will be cautious.”

Long Chen had calmed his temper. One reason was that their actions had stemmed from genuine concern, while another reason was that they had also stopped acting so high and aloof.

Suddenly, the world around him changed, and his mind left the totem pole.

Luo Yanfeng and the others remained fast asleep beneath the totem pole’s divine radiance, their bloodline power seemingly in hibernation. Long Chen silently studied the totem pole, his mind swirling with questions.

The ancestors’ sudden reverence unsettled him. It wasn’t him they had been kneeling to—at least, it didn’t feel that way.

Since Luo Yanfeng and the others were still undergoing their transformation, Long Chen decided to leave first.

Just as he departed, the race leader entered the chamber. He approached the totem pole and bowed deeply. In the next instant, his consciousness was drawn into the totem pole’s space.

“Greetings, ancestors.”

The race leader respectfully kowtowed. These heroic spirits were the revered guardians of the violet blood race—their most honored predecessors.

“Rise,” the middle-aged man leading them said, lifting him up personally. “Why did you send him here?”

“Our branch is at a critical juncture. We must make an important choice, and Long Chen is at the heart of this decision. I can sense powerful killing intent and a sinister aura from him. But his power blocks me from sensing him more deeply. Given the stakes—the survival of our branch—I could not make this decision alone. I sought your wisdom,” the race leader explained respectfully.

The middle-aged man’s expression remained calm. “He is worthy of trust. That is unquestionable.”

The race leader sighed in relief, but then the middle-aged man added, “However, let me warn you—he cannot be controlled.”

With that, the middle-aged man vanished, and the race leader was ejected from the totem pole’s space.

He stood there, his brow furrowed in deep thought.
