Chapter 732: Chapter 561: Night Parade of One Hundred Demons_2

Evil thrives on the edge of fear, Yang Xiao summoned the Human Bone Staff and swung it towards the Samurai with about 70% of his strength. The Samurai mechanically drew his katana to block, and Yang Xiao sneered inwardly—the Human Bone Staff’s attack targeted the spirit, making ordinary physical defenses ineffective.

Yet, within moments, Yang Xiao witnessed an inconceivable scene. As the force from the Human Bone Staff collided with the blade, a crisp "ding" sound rang out. Following that, the power of the strike dissipated into nothingness.

At the same time, the Samurai sheathed his katana by his side, and the next second, he swung out a very rigid but impeccably executed Iaido Slash. As the blade sliced through the air, Yang Xiao’s pupils constricted sharply. He could sense that he was locked on by the strike, and no matter where he dodged, he would be hit. He had experienced this feeling of being locked on before when he was attacked by Huang Sanbing, the previous owner of the Human Bone Staff.

That katana was a Magic Artifact similar to the Human Bone Staff, capable of assaulting the spirit and, furthermore, it possessed the ability to track its target.

"What in the world are all these Demons and Ghosts?" In this moment, Yang Xiao realized he had underestimated the Ghost Tomb. The fear instilled by the ghosts interred here exceeded one another in terror. If these creatures were to escape, corpses strewn everywhere wouldn’t suffice to describe it—the whole Ru Lin Academy... no, the entire Yun Qi City would become a dead city!

With no way out, Yang Xiao had his back against the wall. He had no choice but to brace the Human Bone Staff in front of him, readying himself to take the hit head-on. In the nick of time, the curtain to Yang Xiao’s left was suddenly flung open. An arm reached out swiftly and, catching him off guard, yanked Yang Xiao into the room.

Thanks to his recent combat experience, Yang Xiao reacted quickly. He didn’t fall but instead got his footing immediately, crouching low, ready to face any incoming attacks. The room was pitch-black, but Yang Xiao knew there was a ghost in there with him.

"Don’t move, and don’t speak!" a deep voice came from the darkness, a voice very familiar to him—it was the Old Clan Leader!

Before Yang Xiao could gather his thoughts, the Samurai Ghost made its way to the door. Peering through the gap beneath the curtain, Yang Xiao could see the straw sandals on the feet of the Samurai.

After standing outside for a few seconds, the Samurai Ghost walked away with stiff steps, the sound of its footsteps fading until they disappeared.

"Phew—" a sigh from the Old Clan Leader came from the darkness, "It’s gone now."

The next second, a beam of light shone through the darkness. The Old Clan Leader walked slowly out from the shadows, holding a lantern. In just a few hours, the Old Clan Leader looked a lot more disheveled, his body covered with many more wounds, his clothes stained red with blood.

"Old Clan Leader, what happened to you?" Yang Xiao exclaimed in shock.

"On my way out, I was ambushed by a ghost. They almost snatched the lantern. Now..." The Old Clan Leader stared at the lantern in his hand and inhaled sharply, "this lantern won’t last much longer."

The lantern now flickered like a candle in the wind, its flame barely moving, as if it could go out at any moment. "What will happen if the lantern goes out?" Yang Xiao pressed.

"We will be lost in this Ghost Tomb forever, never finding our way out." With his hair in disarray and his clothes torn, the Old Clan Leader looked utterly different from before.

At this point, despair rose in Yang Xiao’s heart. He wanted to ask the Old Clan Leader why, knowing the dangers of the Ghost Tomb, he would bring them here. However, now was not the time for internal disputes, and some words could only be suppressed.

"Old Clan Leader, what should we do now?" Yang Xiao asked in a low voice, glancing towards the door, "Earlier I encountered a ghost wearing wooden clogs—it was terrifying. That ghost used an iron hook to drag away another ghost."

Hearing this, the Old Clan Leader slowly raised his most injured left arm, "I know the one you speak of; it’s the one that ambushed me. This arm was broken by its hand."

"Then let’s not delay any longer and look for a way out quickly. We are not far from the exit now," Yang Xiao urged, aware that facing the ghosts hidden in the room was one thing, but encountering the wooden clogs ghost would spell doom.

Moreover, with the Old Clan Leader present, they should be able to handle most problems as long as they don’t run into the wooden clogs ghost. Even though the Old Clan Leader was seriously injured now, a starving camel is still bigger than a horse, and even among those of Netherworld-level, he was not weak.

But the Old Clan Leader, with a look of worry, shook his head and motioned Yang Xiao to look outside as he approached. Seconds later, Yang Xiao saw a frightening sight—a pair of dark blue, bare feet appeared outside on the corridor, their toes pointed menacingly towards the room.

Another ghost had arrived, and Yang Xiao was horrified. At this rate, the number of ghosts able to leave the room was increasing. Soon, the corridors would be haunted by countless Fierce Ghosts, and then they would have no chance.

Yet, strangely, no matter how much Yang Xiao pleaded, the Old Clan Leader refused to take the risk of breaking out, seemingly content to wait it out like a shrinking turtle in this room. This stirred Yang Xiao’s suspicion, for his impression of the Old Clan Leader was that of a decisive killer, not a weak man.

As he observed more closely, more doubts surfaced—the Old Clan Leader seemed to be intentionally keeping his distance. Whenever Yang Xiao made a move, or walked a few steps, changing his position, the Old Clan Leader would also subtly reposition himself accordingly.

To test his suspicion, Yang Xiao boldly took two steps towards the door. Sure enough, the Old Clan Leader followed, once more aligning his feet to target Yang Xiao directly.
