Chapter 674: Chapter 531: Here Comes_4

"What do you mean by that?" the middle-aged man frowned.

"I killed the person," Yang Xiao said calmly.

"Nonsense, you alone could kill two elders of the Law Enforcement Hall?" another man, who seemed to have some status, said angrily.

"If you’re not stupid, then what are you doing here looking for me?" Yang Xiao asked, puzzled. "If you want to close the case quickly, just arrest me and make up the numbers. I don’t know what level your elders are, but I’m just a Fierce Grade low-level Little Apostle. Do you think your leader will believe you?"

"Excuse the interruption." The middle-aged man didn’t waste any more words, and stood up to leave. The others in the room followed suit, retreating with the middle-aged man.

Sure enough, these guys didn’t have any evidence, they just came to bluff him. The middle-aged man had already used a Magic Artifact to probe his depth and knew that he wouldn’t stand a chance against the two elders, so he left.

But Yang Xiao did not plan to tell these people what he had seen. Who knew who sent them, and if they were subordinates of the person from last night, he would be walking right into a trap.

Now, Yang Xiao also sensed the scent of danger. He planned to write down what he saw to send to Yang Cha before he entered the next competition. To open the file, a verification code would be required, and he decided to set it as "Sui."

Yang Cha was smart; he would surely guess it.

The middle-aged man and his men had come for him. After checking on him, they left. Yang Xiao went to the window and lifted a corner of the curtain. He watched the middle-aged man lead the group away. But as he watched, Yang Xiao suddenly felt something was off. How many of them came in again? It felt like... like there was someone missing?

Yang Xiao had a good eye. He carefully recalled that there seemed to be eight people who had entered the room, including the middle-aged man. But after they left... he counted each one on the street below, and only seven remained. Then... where did the missing person go?

Yang Xiao wasn’t sure if his idea was true, it was just a guess, because no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t remember what the missing person looked like—their height, gender, dress. He only had a vague impression. But the vaguer it was, the more frightened he became.

A few minutes later, he couldn’t sit still any longer. First, he donned his Drama Robe, then, with a Human Bone Staff in one hand and a Ghost Lantern in the other, he ignited the flame inside the Ghost Lantern and started checking around the room. First was the bathroom, then under the bed, behind the sofa, in the wardrobe, even outside the window. Yang Xiao checked everywhere but found nothing. The room was very clean.

Then, as if a thought struck him, Yang Xiao looked up at the ceiling, lifting the lantern high.

"Huff—"

There was still nothing. Yang Xiao, gasping for breath, removed his mask and sat on the sofa, his gaze ceaselessly roaming the room. He didn’t even know what he was expecting. Was he hoping to find something abnormal or hoping not to? He couldn’t articulate it himself.

Going to the bathroom, he turned on the faucet, and cold clear water flowed out. Yang Xiao scrubbed his face several times with the water.

Turning off the faucet, he propped himself up on the sink, staring at his reflection in the mirror. He looked very haggard; the recent experiences had him on edge. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he felt paranoia about every little thing.

He leaned closer to the mirror, prying open his eyelids to see the bloodshot in his eyes. His complexion was also terribly pale, revealing the blue veins beneath his skin.

Originally, he had just wanted to participate quietly in the underground competition to find a solution to the Mirror Ghost but had ended up getting into big trouble.

The people of Ru Lin Academy weren’t fools. They wouldn’t just arrest him to close the case. Yang Xiao sighed, wiped his face dry with a towel, turned away from the mirror, and walked out, casually turning off the bathroom light. But he never would have imagined that, in the darkness behind him, his reflection in the mirror did not follow his movements but stood silently in the mirror, watching the direction he left.

After an indeterminate amount of time, the reflected Yang Xiao in the mirror began to move. His body rigid and still, his left arm slowly, slowly raised. Soon, a head with silver hair stained with blood appeared in the mirror, held in the hand of Yang Xiao.
