Chapter 622: Chapter 513: Dragon No.243_3

He halted in his tracks and looked in the direction from which the malicious intent had come. Twenty meters away, by the right side of a lavishly decorated Christmas tree, stood a person.

The person evidently hadn’t expected to be discovered so quickly. He appeared to be a short, overweight man wearing a shabby old suit that didn’t fit well, as if it wasn’t his own but stripped from someone deceased.

A mask, somewhat too small, covered his face—it was Sky No. 41.

Lu Chenzhou noticed him too. He slipped a hand inside his coat, clutching a clay figurine, while his eyes scoured the area, worried that the man might have accomplices.

He didn’t possess a Magic Artifact like Yang Xiao. Yang Xiao was sure the man was alone; he had either failed to find a suitable teammate or was audaciously skilled.

The man seemed to be waiting there, clearly targeting the balloons in his hand, daring to plot against the two of them alone, suggesting he was no ordinary foe.

The elusive Dao Zi 131 from the Withered Bone Pavilion and the Dragon No.243 he always worried about had yet to show up. Yang Xiao didn’t want to waste his energy on this man and risk unwanted complications, but retreating might make him appear weak.

The next second, Yang Xiao stepped forward, striding towards Sky No. 41 while making a gesture as if to hand over the balloon he was holding.

Twenty meters, fifteen meters... At first, the man managed to keep his composure, but as Yang Xiao drew closer, he panicked, stepping back before turning to run. Despite his bulky frame, he was surprisingly fast and vanished into the crowd in the blink of an eye.

Yang Xiao didn’t chase after him; driving him away was the best outcome. He figured that after such a scare, the man wouldn’t trouble them again soon.

On the way to Sector A, Yang Xiao remained vigilant, but after a full round, they spotted no one else. Lu Chenzhou grew nervous; after all, he still had no life-saving balloon in his possession. Yang Xiao, seeing through but not addressing it, didn’t bother to reassure him.

Suddenly, the overhead broadcast sounded, announcing another disappearance, coincidentally the very same Sky No. 41 they had encountered not long ago.

Less than five minutes later, the broadcast sounded again, this time delivering a message. The battered loudspeaker was grating, and at the beginning of the announcement, Yang Xiao stopped in his tracks.

"Dragon No.243 greets all the guests of tonight’s playground, especially his friends who have traveled far to join him. He invites his friends to the blood donation station in Sector D where he has found a gift, a precious gift that ensures everyone’s safety."

Finally... he had appeared!

Dragon No.243... the guy who had traveled from Rongcheng with him.

When they heard the broadcast, they were by the roadside. Yang Xiao took out the park map to mark the location and route, deciding to check it out.

It wasn’t really about honoring the invitation; he planned to hide in as safe a place as possible to see what was going on. He was very interested in the true identity of Dragon No.243. Whoever had survived until now must be quite capable.

Along the way, Lu Chenzhou whispered, "If it’s not a trap, I think the fellow must have found a piece of green Jade, and that place is somewhat safe, but it comes at the cost of erasing the characters on our masks."

Losing the characters would mean losing their eligibility to continue in the competition, something Yang Xiao couldn’t tolerate. He glanced at Lu Chenzhou, gauging his resolve, "Lu, if it comes to a big fight for the last spots, one that might even lead to death, would you agree?"

Lu Chenzhou nodded emphatically, "Yes, I have reasons that compel me to do so, or else I wouldn’t be here."

Yang Xiao nodded, satisfied, "Good, I feel the same."

"Today, whoever damn well tries to block our way, be it gods or demons, they must die!" Lu Chenzhou declared fiercely.

Yang Xiao was quite pleased with this teammate of his. Lu’s spiritual power was at the lower levels of the Fierce Grade, but the clay figurine he held was impressive; catch off-guard, even Yang Xiao himself would be at a disadvantage against it.

As they passed Sector C, Yang Xiao found a statistical board. Both he and Lu Chenzhou were startled upon seeing the numbers; the real-time count of guests in the park had increased from 4,417 to 4,420, undoubtedly due to three balloons. The bearers of the balloons had been accepted by the park, upgrading their status to official guests.

But what was key was the last row of numbers, the current total count in the park, which had dropped from an initial 5,419 to 5,413. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Ghosts couldn’t be killed, so it had to be humans who were missing, six people less!

In other words, barring Yang Xiao and Lu Chenzhou, there were only two other living people left in the vast Kongling Mountain Playground.

"How could this be?" Lu Chenzhou exclaimed in shock, as he remembered there should still be six people around.

According to the order of deaths, the first was Sky No. 41, killed by a ghost; the second was Prisoner No.199, killed by Yang Xiao; the third was Long Zi 78, killed by a ghost; and the recently announced deceased Sky No. 41, also killed by a ghost.

"There hasn’t been any recent announcement, so just a short while ago, two people were killed, definitely by someone else," Yang Xiao stated bluntly.

Lu Chenzhou had a realization, and a tall, thin figure sprang to mind, his face turning pale: "It’s Dao Zi 131, definitely him. He teamed up with that Dragon No. 29 woman to take out another team!"
