Chapter 343: Chapter 297: Mirage
Tong Han still tried to discuss things with him while holding back his anger, but this kid wasn’t taking any advice. About half a minute later, the young man wearing a chef’s hat seemed to sense something. He took out his phone from his pocket, and after seeing the numbers displayed on the screen, his lips curled up, and a smile he couldn’t contain spread across his face, "Not bad, you folks have some sense. Follow me."
Yang Xiao understood that it seemed Tong Han had brought a bug with him, and Mo Daidai, who had stayed behind in Rongcheng, had someone transfer the money to the young man.
"We had an agreement," the young man warned in a low voice, "after you guys steal the jewelry from Yanhe Tian’s woman that she got at the auction, you’re supposed to leave immediately. Don’t cause a big scene, I damn well don’t want to offend Yanhe Tian. Also, don’t think that just because I’m young, I’m easy to bully. If you don’t play by the rules and try to cross me after the job’s done, you’ve miscalculated."
Squinting, the young man showed a cunning expression as he threatened, "To tell you the truth, I have already taken pictures of the two of you and sent them to a friend of mine overseas. If he doesn’t receive a video call from me personally after a while, he’ll immediately release your photos. You should know what kind of man Yanhe Tian is. He will surely skin you alive."
"Understood, we don’t want to cross Yanhe Tian either. Just lead the way," Tong Han responded to the young man with a smile, appearing very sincere.
"What are you looking at me like that for?" the young man stared at Yang Xiao.
"Nothing, just admiring your good looks," Yang Xiao averted his gaze, not bothering with the self-righteous fool. He could already foresee the guy’s fate, and it would be unsightly.
Following the young man, the group took a small path around to the back of the villa and climbed up to the third floor using a rope, then entered through a window into what seemed to be a storage room. The location was secluded; the young man told them to stay put while he stepped out for a bit.
A few minutes later, the young man returned, pushing a food cart with a tower-shaped cake on it. Then the three of them proceeded together: Yang Xiao responsible for pushing the cake cart, Tong Han carrying a large bouquet of flowers filled with love poems and blessings, and the young man in the lead, holding a small notebook in a black leather cover.
The trio took the elevator to the fourth floor. As the elevator doors opened to the corridor, which was short, they saw at the end an opulent, ornate double wooden door. Standing outside the door was a burly black-clothed bodyguard with the character Yan embroidered on his chest.
Before they even got close, Yang Xiao could already hear the music and occasional laughter and cheers from behind the door, indicating some sort of celebration was going on.
"Qiang, we’re here with the cake," the young man, pulling down his mask, nodded and bowed to the black-clothed bodyguard, obviously familiar with him.
The black-clothed bodyguard looked past the young man, fixing his gaze on the masked Yang Xiao, his straight brows furrowing, "Who is he?"
"He’s my new apprentice. Xiao Tang got diarrhea and is resting in his room. This useless guy always screws up at critical moments," the young man continued to joke.
But the duty-bound bodyguard immediately took out his walkie-talkie, ready to verify the young man’s claim. However, as he looked down, his throat was slashed by a dagger. Tong Han had made his move swiftly, then reversed his hand, stabbing the dagger into the man’s neck.
The young man was stunned by this turn of events. They had an agreement that these two were here to steal a valuable piece of jewelry from Yanhe Tian’s mistress, but now it was...
He didn’t continue his thought. And of course, he wouldn’t have the chance to, as Yang Xiao covered his mouth from behind and stabbed him in the heart from under his ribs, then gave a vicious twist. The young man’s eyes quickly emptied of life, as he took his final breath.
After disposing of the two dead bodies, Yang Xiao pulled out two submachine guns hidden on him and tucked them into a concealed compartment in the food cart, while Tong Han’s guns were secreted within the huge bouquet of flowers. They acted as if nothing had happened, using the bouquet and cart to cover the blood on their clothes, and they pushed open the door and walked in.
As soon as the door opened, deafening music enveloped them. The large room had been turned into a ceremonial hall, with several tables set up for a banquet and a temporary stage erected where a singer was giving a lively performance.
There were four tables in total, with about 40 guests, all drunk to the bone, oblivious even as Yang Xiao and Tong Han approached with the cake cart. Some were already passed out face-down on the tables.
Normally, these people shouldn’t have been so unguarded, but aside from the alcohol, the effects of some drug must have been at play too.
Yang Xiao spotted the main guest of the banquet, a middle-aged man in a blue Chinese tunic suit. The man was thin, seated in the place of honor, with a fierce expression and a mustache resembling catfish whiskers. Beside him was a plump and beautiful woman.
Having seen a photo of their target previously, Yang Xiao could verify that this man was indeed Yanhe Tian, and the woman was his mistress.
This wasn’t a good man. When Yanhe Tian’s first wife wouldn’t allow the woman into the house, he had someone play the fall guy and run over his first wife with a car.
Finally, one of the flushed-faced men noticed Yang Xiao and the others. He stood up and staggered over.
Now Yang Xiao and his accomplice were only a few meters away from some guests and no more than a dozen meters from others. They exchanged a quick glance and in the next second, they drew their guns.
