Yang Xiao moved swiftly, his steps light, already sensing from the clapping sounds that their plan had succeeded—Clapping Ghost had been lured away by Takagi Reina and Xiao Lin Zhengyan.

However, in terms of strength, Yang Xiao didn’t trust Xiao Lin Zhengyan much, so he must hasten his pace to quickly end this nightmare.

He still needed to find Yamamoto Chunai and do his best to bring her home.

As he could already see the spired structure of the building, he arrived at an old street covered with dirt, and at the corner he spotted a familiar figure.

It was Kato Shinjiro, collapsed to the ground in a strange pose, with his phone dropped beside him.

Upon seeing Yang Xiao, Kato Shinjiro almost burst into tears, "Chu Xi, Chu Xi, you’ve finally come!"

"Wait, let me shut off that radio!" Yang Xiao didn’t waste time with him, directly running toward the spired building.

Encountering no obstacles along the way, he found the radio in the secret chamber at the top of the spire, just like in the photo.

Yang Xiao immediately took out the radio fragments wrapped in layers, and his hammer came in handy now.

After a series of clangs, Yang Xiao forcefully hammered the fragments into the radio, merging the two together.

Although the method was a bit rough, it was barely usable; at that moment, the radio emitted a crackling electric sound.

This sound gave Yang Xiao a very bad feeling, as if something was about to emerge from the radio the next second.

Yang Xiao quickly pressed the stop button, and this radio that had been out of control for decades finally went completely silent.

With the radio’s shutdown, Yang Xiao distinctly felt the eerie sensation enveloping the entire underground base dissipate.

Yet simultaneously, he faintly heard some other noises, not from the radio, but... but from the base itself.

"Not good..." seemingly realizing something, Yang Xiao immediately turned and ran back, still holding the hammer.

By the time he reached Kato Shinjiro, Kato Shinjiro had already changed posture, freed from his constraints, able to move but his body was still stiff; forget running, even walking was difficult, needing support.

"Where is Yamamoto Chunai?" Yang Xiao grabbed him and asked.

"You...you get me out of here first, then I’ll tell you." Kato Shinjiro replied breathlessly, aware that the surroundings had changed; he could distinctly feel many things awakening within the base.

At that moment, a "rustling" noise came from nearby buildings, as if something was crawling, occasionally accompanied by terrifying, eerie howls like unknown beasts.

But Yang Xiao knew there were no beasts here; those were the test subjects... those failed experiments that had broken free, now able to move at will.

"Kato Shinjiro, telling me clues is also to save yourself, but I’ll return the favor; if you dare deceive me, don’t tell me where Yamamoto Chunai is, or you simply don’t know, it won’t end well, you’ll definitely regret it," Yang Xiao said sternly.

"Of course, I...I know where she is, as long as... as long as you get me out of here!" Kato Shinjiro assured.

Dragging Kato Shinjiro with him, Yang Xiao ran, moving toward the exit that had now appeared; they just needed to follow their instincts to reach it.

The journey wasn’t far, yet it wasn’t easy; many paths were blocked, and the number of failed test subjects exceeded expectations, easily numbering over a hundred.

This was just what they saw and encountered; the total number within the base must be several hundred at least. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

These creatures could no longer be called "humans," resembling mutated beasts; Yang Xiao even witnessed two people glued shoulder to shoulder, crawling on the ground using all limbs like lizards.

More terrifyingly, Yang Xiao could see a pure hatred in their eyes.

They hated themselves, hated that they weren’t like them, hated that they were normal, not cursed.

One half-melted creature fell from the roof, landing about 3 meters from Yang Xiao.

Glancing quickly as he ran by, Yang Xiao suddenly noticed the creature’s abdomen was cut open, seemingly stuffed with something.

That item was originally boxed, but as it fell, the box shattered; the mangled abdomen was still pierced with several sharp splinters.

"It’s the Resentful Eye!"

Yang Xiao instinctively realized these inhuman creatures had sewn the Resentful Eye into this person’s belly.

After a fierce escape, Yang Xiao, supporting the half-dead Kato Shinjiro, finally reached their destination—a peculiar semi-circular building with the exit at its doorway.

"Chu Xi, Chu Xi, get me over there, I’ll tell you, tell you where Yamamoto Chunai is!" Kato Shinjiro’s eyes brightened upon seeing the entrance nearby.

But then he yelped in pain, as Yang Xiao smashed his fingers with a hammer, breaking two of them, "Don’t push my limits, speak! Where is she!"

Yang Xiao was anxious; the situation was very bad, every second of delay reduced Yamamoto Chunai’s chance of survival.

And until now, he hadn’t seen Takagi Reina and Xiao Lin Zhengyan; their situation was unknown.
