Chapter 1968: Chapter 1114: It’s Done

The content of the message was very simple, just one sentence:

"Don’t turn off your phone tonight."

"Hey, what’s he up to? He can’t be planning to set us up, can he?" Takagi Reina blinked at the message on the screen, distrustful of Kato Shinjiro.

Yang Xiao put away his phone, unconcerned, "Unless he wants to die."

If Kato Shinjiro could escape an attack from the Water Ghost, there’s no reason he couldn’t do so himself.

And if he found out that Kato Shinjiro dared to play tricks on him, then once they got out, he would certainly find him and make him pay for his stupidity.

"Mr. Xiaolin, hide well tonight, you’re the only weakness among the three of us." Yang Xiao turned and instructed Xiao Lin Zhengyan.

Perhaps sensing the tension and pressure before a major battle, none of the three of them got much rest that night.

Time passed quickly, and as Takagi Reina pulled an old ticket from her pocket, there was no more suspense about who the "ghost" would be tonight.

Yang Xiao and the others immediately set off for Old Valley Town Station, sending a message to Kato Shinjiro along the way, informing him that they would proceed according to the plan.

This time they didn’t board the train in advance but stayed at the station to observe.

But even when that strange dizziness hit, they saw neither Kato Shinjiro nor anyone from Yandeta Chiyoda’s team, thinking that everyone was on guard against each other.

When Yang Xiao opened his eyes in a daze, a familiar scene played out again, and he found himself back on that Ghost Train.

The difference was this time he was a passenger, sitting in a nondescript spot in carriage number 4.

This time, his soul inhabited a middle-aged woman, big and broad-shouldered, probably from years of manual labor, her body more robust than Yang Xiao’s, full of strength.

Yang Xiao steadied his mind, silently praying that everything would go smoothly that night.

Meanwhile, in carriage number 6, a Ghost Shadow slowly opened its eyes, revealing terrifying whites—it was Takagi Reina waking up.

It was her first time being the "ghost," and everything in the carriage seemed shrouded in a weird black-and-white filter.

It wasn’t a complete black and white, but as if a layer was peeled off the original colors, stripping away vitality and leaving only dead silence.

She struggled to stand from her seat, her body cold and stiff, her knees barely able to bend, her neck unable to turn freely.

Reflected in the window, a pair of slender, pale dead arms hung around her neck, with the Half Ghost suspended behind her.

She took half a minute to adjust, while scanning the carriage with her eyes, soon spotting a hunchbacked old man with a bamboo basket.

The old man stood at the back of the carriage, the special passenger Kato Shinjiro had mentioned.

At first glance, there was nothing special about the old man, but as she kept watching, the right strap of his bamboo basket slowly slipped off, and just as it was about to fall, the old man suddenly gave an unnatural shrug of his right shoulder.

The movement was very small, easily missed if not closely watched, but just enough to reset the slipping strap.

But soon after, the right strap began to show signs of slipping again.

Takagi Reina understood this was a cycle, lasting a few minutes, greatly accelerated by constant looking.

It seemed to be one of the Ghost Train’s rules, continuously "correcting" passengers’ actions in a way they couldn’t yet understand.

Time was pressing; she had to act. After a brief search, she left carriage number 6, moving swiftly through the train.

Carriage number 5, carriage number 4, carriage number 3...she barely stopped until reaching carriage number 2, where she breathed a long sigh of relief.

She had found her target for the night, a young man hiding behind the right handrail in carriage number 2 — Sakai Misaki.

Takagi Reina wasn’t going to follow Kato Shinjiro’s initial plan; she would first root out Sakai Misaki. As long as she found her, she’d have an invincible position tonight.

To avoid any mishaps, she entered carriage number 1, confirming no one there was as bad an actor as her, finally locking in the identity as none other than the pure newbie, Sakai Misaki.

Just as she was about to leave, a commotion at the far end of carriage number 1 caught her attention, several passengers raised their heads, fixating on a slender young girl standing in the corner, restless.

Takagi Reina seemed to realize something, slowly walking over, seeing the girl’s eyes show little fear, even turning them toward her slightly.

Seeing this, Takagi Reina instantly understood; this guy was Kato Shinjiro, deliberately drawing her attention.

What a bold guy.

At the same time, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief; so far, the plan seemed unchanged, as Takagi Reina had feared losing track of everyone.

Everything seemed normal for now, so she planned to execute the original plan, carefully inspecting each carriage next.

She moved quickly, following the behavioral habits they had summarized before, and luckily found a man in number 3 wearing boots and an old military uniform, whom she suspected was Yandeta Chiyoda.

Great, her task for the night was almost complete. She had confirmed Kato Shinjiro in carriage number 1, Sakai Misaki in carriage number 2, and the suspected Yandeta Chiyoda hiding in carriage number 3.
