Chapter 1959: Chapter 1109: Unexpected Change

"You dare to get off the train rashly, on what basis?" Yang Xiao questioned.

Unexpectedly, Kato Shinjiro shook his head with a disappointed expression, "Stop saying such unprofessional things. I don’t believe you haven’t noticed, the situation on that ghost train is already dire."

"It’s undergoing changes, irreversible changes, and rapidly at that. Those ’passengers’ are becoming increasingly alert and irritable."

"Once, moving around quietly among them wouldn’t draw attention. But now, just last night, I merely raised my hand slightly, and a ’passenger’ nearby caught it, staring at me for a long time."

"I’m certain that if I make any other nonconforming moves and they confirm it, I’ll face a catastrophic disaster."

"These guys on the train are gradually ’awakening,’ they’re starting to kill, and the pace is accelerating."

"The train is no longer a safe zone, and the Half Ghost is no longer the only threat. Staying on could just as likely end in death," Kato Shinjiro answered.

However, Yang Xiao was evidently unsatisfied with this response, "That’s not a sufficient reason. With your skills, I think even if people were to die, it wouldn’t be your turn. There must be another reason you’re so eager to get off the train."

"Actually, it comes down to only two possibilities: either you have an unavoidable reason to leave, or... you’re lying."

To someone like Kato Shinjiro, Yang Xiao always remained vigilant. Since the other party proposed a cooperation, he must show enough sincerity to move him, otherwise, no deal.

He had been deceived once before and would not allow it a second time.

"I really need this Resentful Eye for this mission, to save my life. I must get it, even if it costs something."

"This thing can only be mine. I’ve remembered all your faces, and if I can’t get it, I’ll seek you all out for it later."

"I don’t fear trouble. I’ll find you even at the ends of the earth. You can’t imagine the power behind me."

Perhaps realizing his words were too harsh, Kato Shinjiro’s tone softened slightly, looking at Yang Xiao more sincerely, "Mr. Chu Xi, I don’t want to be your enemy. Please make it convenient; it’s most suitable for me to end this mission."

"You didn’t get swept into this nightmare by chance, did you?" Yang Xiao stared at his face for a few seconds, suddenly asking.

"You know quite a lot, but don’t ask any further. It’s not good for you or me," Kato Shinjiro warned.

"This time, I’m taking people off the train, and I’ll bear the risks. You just wait for the mission to end and leave here. That’s good for you, me, and everyone, right?" Kato Shinjiro’s patience was nearly spent.

"If I don’t agree to cooperate, you’ll go to Yandeta Chiyoda or Watanabe Gou to cooperate, using the same words with me, right?" Yang Xiao asked.

"Right." Kato Shinjiro nodded, amazingly frank.

"I agree to cooperate, but I need to see your sincerity," Yang Xiao replied.

A gleam of spirit appeared in Kato Shinjiro’s eyes, "What sincerity?"

"I need you to kill at least one of Yandeta Chiyoda or Watanabe Gangzhong. Also, I’m not discussing this with you; I’m informing you. Agree or we fight."

"I’m not sure about escaping this mission, but I’m confident I can drag all of you to die here with me." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Don’t haggle with me; you’re not qualified. And stop boasting in front of me. The power you pride yourself on is nothing to me. The big figures I’ve met and powers I’ve encountered are beyond your imagination."

Yang Xiao’s face was exceptionally serious, delivering the ultimatum, "Kato Shinjiro, Miss Yamamoto was my friend. She died because of your schemes. You must pay the price for that."

Confronted with Yang Xiao’s arrogance, veins bulged at Kato Shinjiro’s temples. Given his identity and position, rarely had anyone in Japan dared speak to him like that, but if he wanted to execute his plan, he had to cooperate with Yang Xiao.

"Yandeta Chiyoda and Watanabe Gou were certainly options, but in Kato Shinjiro’s view, regardless of their skills, their character was lacking. Collaborating with them was akin to negotiating with a tiger—too risky."

"Who exactly are you?" Kato Shinjiro finally voiced the long-standing doubt in his mind, staring at Yang Xiao’s face.

"Don’t ask. Knowing too much won’t benefit you," Yang Xiao replied, mimicking Kato Shinjiro’s tone in rejecting his question.

After some thought, Kato Shinjiro extended his hand:

"Deal!"

"Looking forward to your performance, Mr. Katou." Yang Xiao extended his hand too, their hands clasping in agreement.

A temporary alliance was formed, but as for how much of it was genuine or false, only the parties involved knew.

Talk was cheap; Yang Xiao was only interested in results. He wanted to force Kato Shinjiro to kill someone to show commitment.

"One more thing, did you get any news last night?" Kato Shinjiro inquired, a hint of anticipation in his calm gaze.

"No," Yang Xiao answered.

Upon hearing this response, Kato Shinjiro nodded, as it was within his expectations. After all, Yamamoto Chunai was a novice, and he didn’t have high hopes for her.

"As for killing Yandeta Chiyoda or Watanabe Gou, I can, but not alone. I’ll need your cooperation," Kato Shinjiro stipulated.

"Fine, we’ll cooperate, but you do the killing," Yang Xiao stated.
