Chapter 1955: Chapter 1107: Hell on Earth

If it’s truly something like a Ghost Hitting the Wall, then she would never be able to get out of here in her lifetime. To her, the stairs beneath her feet seemed endless.

At the same time, she realized there was indeed a Ghost present here, and the urgent task was to confirm the identity and location of this Ghost.

She slowed her pace and tried to steady her emotions. Mr. Chu Xi had taught her that the more critical the situation, the more important it is to remain calm; panic doesn’t solve problems; it only leads to a quicker death.

So far, Mr. Chu Xi hadn’t deceived her. What he taught her and Mr. Yamamoto was very practical.

While cranking the flashlight, she cautiously descended, Yamamoto Chunai was on high alert, paying close attention to her surroundings.

Yet, up until now, she hadn’t discovered anything. The place was "strangely" clean and disturbingly quiet.

Suddenly, there was a faint breeze from behind her; calling it a breeze wasn’t quite accurate—it was more like an insignificant slight air current disturbance, something unnoticeable unless you were keenly aware.

However, the highly tense Yamamoto Chunai sensed it. What truly made her shiver was the dangerous smell she detected within it.

The scent wasn’t too strong but stung a little; it was the smell of paint.

This smell instantly dragged Yamamoto Chunai’s memory back to the scene of Chu Xi losing an arm—it was the sneak attack of a Paint Ghost that severed Mr. Chu Xi’s arm.

Two days ago, veteran player Suzuki Takashi also perished at the hands of this Ghost.

It’s the Paint Ghost!

It’s here!

Yamamoto Chunai shivered suddenly; not long ago, she had saved Chu Xi from the Paint Ghost’s attack. She hadn’t expected so soon to encounter this ghost again.

Yamamoto Chunai knew this entity was difficult to deal with and more dangerous than the Water Ghost. They knew too little about the Paint Ghost.

The breeze was coming from behind her, and the Ghost should be walking toward her from behind. At this thought, Yamamoto Chunai couldn’t stay calm anymore and quickly ran down the stairs.

But no matter how fast she ran, the paint smell never dissipated; instead, it grew stronger—an extremely dangerous signal.

The Paint Ghost was getting closer to her. In her mind, Chu Xi’s severed arm appeared, along with the dreadful state of Suzuki Takashi’s corpse she had seen in phone photos.

When it rains, it pours. Yamamoto Chunai sprinted downwards but accidentally slipped, tumbling downward. She rolled over god knows how many times, and after rolling into a platform, she hit the side wall of the passage at a tricky angle.

At this moment, Yamamoto Chunai was extremely disheveled, with blood oozing from her face and arms, completely filthy. It took her over ten seconds to regain her memory, recalling who she was and why she was here.

The flashlight in her hand was lost during the tumble; now she was surrounded by darkness, except for that faint paint smell.

The Ghost was still there, but strangely, it didn’t attack her while she was down, and from the intensity of the paint smell, it seemed it had gotten further away.

But now wasn’t the time to think about these things; her strong will to survive overshadowed everything else. Yamamoto Chunai struggled to stand, propped herself with her left hand on the wall, and limped along the stairs down in the dark.

After running for maybe less than half a minute, a miracle occurred—she unexpectedly reached a relatively spacious area and dashed out of the dark passage, with rows of houses on either side outside.

When she looked back again, she could no longer see any stairs, just a blur of darkness, as if a strange force concealed the path she came down.

The paint smell, like a haunting specter pursuing her, was gone too.

"Survived..."

Yamamoto Chunai stood dazed in place. It took her several seconds to confirm this fact.

Big drops of tears burst forth—only those who experienced it can understand the feeling of surviving a catastrophe.

Having narrowly escaped the pursuit of two groups of Ghost passengers and survived an attack from the Water Ghost, she now escaped from the Paint Ghost’s territory. This achievement was difficult even for seasoned players to replicate, yet Yamamoto Chunai managed to do it.

She attributed all this to Mr. Chu Xi’s help, and of course, a good amount of luck is indispensable.

The first two times were more manageable to discuss, but especially the last time, she didn’t even know how she escaped the Paint Ghost’s chase.

Originally, she thought she was surely dead; unexpectedly, after a hard fall, she miraculously escaped.

Her fingers gently touched the wound on her arm, and Yamamoto Chunai hissed in pain, but knew the setback was worthwhile.

New here, Yamamoto Chunai didn’t choose to immediately explore the new underground world; instead, she found a place that seemed relatively safe to hide and sent a message to Yang Xiao.

She fully disclosed the presence of the Paint Ghost guarding the passage, the explosives hidden at the entrance, and how she inadvertently escaped after falling. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

She also warned Yang Xiao that beneath the station lies an underground world, seemingly as big as the above-ground station.

She found a good angle and raised her phone to take a photo and sent it to Yang Xiao.

In fact, after seeing this underground world, Yamamoto Chunai felt a bit of despair. To survive, she needed to find a radio, but the place was so vast—where would she find a radio?

Moreover, even if she found one, who knows if it’s the right one?

But at this point, it was meaningless to say anything more. She mustered courage, encouraged herself, and embarked on the journey anew.
