Chapter 1951: Chapter 1105: Schemes

"What did you find out?" At this moment, Takagi Reina could hardly wait any longer. She was thinking too, but hadn’t come to a conclusion yet.

"Who stayed at the Detective Agency during the day today?" Yang Xiao suddenly asked.

"Kato Shinjiro and Sakai Misaki," Takagi Reina replied.

Yang Xiao sneered, "If I’m not mistaken, it was also those two who stayed at the Detective Agency last night, and it was Kato Shinjiro who volunteered."

Takagi Reina frowned, becoming more puzzled, "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"Don’t you get it yet? Where did we discuss the secret code actions?" Yang Xiao’s tone was somewhat harsh.

"At the Detective Agency, before going out." After saying these two sentences, Takagi Reina’s expression suddenly stiffened, and the next second, her gaze turned sharp, "Damn, that bastard tampered with something at the Detective Agency; he planted an eavesdropping device!"

Such things aren’t easy for ordinary people to get their hands on, especially in the era this world finds itself in, but they’re different; their original identities in this world are private detectives.

In a cabinet in their office, there are such things; they had already seen them during previous searches.

Watanabe Gou had tried using one at the time but failed. The thing seemed to be broken, intended to be repaired, so no one paid much attention to it.

But now, looking back, Kato Shinjiro staying at the Detective Agency had its purpose. This guy took the chance to repair the eavesdropping device and secretly installed it in the office.

"Damn it...," Takagi Reina cursed through clenched teeth, "These teammates are no pushover after all; a moment of inattention and they’ll stab you in the back."

At the same time, she couldn’t help but feel secretly relieved; fortunately, they discovered this secret tonight, or they would suffer greatly in the future.

If tonight were a deathtrap for her or Yang Xiao, it would be troublesome. If the person harbors malicious intent, they could easily eliminate them.

Now the reason Sakai Misaki knows the code has been found, but Yang Xiao is still troubled by one problem, and this problem lies with Yamamoto Chunai herself.

"Don’t blame yourself; honestly, she didn’t send the signal; she died, and well... it’s not really your fault."

Knowing Yamamoto Chunai saved Yang Xiao’s life, Yang Xiao has always remembered her favor. Takagi Reina swallowed the harsh words she had spoken, worried about upsetting Yang Xiao.

She initially meant to say she deserved her fate, believing Yang Xiao was already very benevolent to them.

Also, it’s not very appropriate to cause trouble for Kato Shinjiro because of this incident; after all, Kato Shinjiro’s goal wasn’t to trap and kill the two of them; he just wanted to save teammate Sakai Misaki, giving her a chance.

To achieve this for a newcomer teammate as a temporary partner, it’s hard to say he’s inherently bad.

Yamamoto Chunai died due to her own mistake and Kato Shinjiro’s scheme; in Takagi Reina’s view, she bears the main responsibility.

On the other hand, if three people in the car had simultaneously made the correct signals, Yang Xiao would immediately realize the problem and would most likely save Yamamoto Chunai.

Another reason is that Takagi Reina doesn’t want to clash directly with Kato Shinjiro.

For one, Kato Shinjiro isn’t easy to deal with, and for a teammate she’s known for only a couple of days, it isn’t worth it.

Secondly, given the current situation, teaming up with Yang Xiao to deal with Yandeta Chiyoda and Watanabe Gou already puts pressure on them. Adding Kato Shinjiro and Substitute Death Sakai Misaki would tip the scales in the others’ favor.

In the Nightmare World, survival is always the priority.

"When we go back, we’ll dismantle the eavesdropping device, and that’s the end of it," Yang Xiao took a deep breath and said coldly, "I’ve remembered his face; once we’re out, I’ll find him."

Upon hearing Yang Xiao say this, Takagi Reina finally relaxed; she had prepared many comforting words to persuade Yang Xiao to let go of personal grudges, but it turned out not to be necessary.

"That’s right, Chu Xi, be bold and decisive; you’re a true man! First, let’s hold him down; when we’re out and you find him, you can beat him up at his house, and I won’t object!"

After pausing for a moment, Takagi Reina cautiously asked, "What do you plan to do next? I mean... how do we talk to Xiao Lin Zhengyan?"

Takagi Reina’s concern is not without reason; Xiao Lin Zhengyan and Yamamoto Chunai had shared hardships, and the two had deep feelings. If he knew Yamamoto Chunai died because of Kato Shinjiro’s scheme, he might do something foolish.

Newcomers are different from veteran players; sometimes newcomers are even scarier because they are unpredictable.

They often do astonishing things, impossible to calculate, anticipate, or require special reasons; if they happen, they drag them and even the whole team into the abyss.

Yamamoto Chunai is already dead, and neither Takagi Reina nor Yang Xiao wants to see him also die, especially out of anger—it’s meaningless and dangerous.

"We can’t tell him the truth; we’ll shift the blame to Yandeta Chiyoda, saying she orchestrated everything and the listening device was installed by her and Watanabe Gou." After weighing the pros and cons, Yang Xiao gave the answer.

Hearing this, Takagi Reina nodded, "That’s good, saying Yandeta Chiyoda and Watanabe Gou schemed against him and Yamamoto Chunai makes sense."

Actually, if you scrutinize it, there are loopholes in this explanation, like timing; in the past few days, Yandeta Chiyoda and Watanabe Gou didn’t have the opportunity to stay alone at the Detective Agency, so they didn’t have a chance to install the eavesdropping device.
