Chapter 1943: Chapter 1101: Night Raid

Yang Xiao calmly accepted Kato Shinjiro’s thanks. He felt a slight sense of relief; at least there was someone in the team who was sensible, even if it was just for show, half-truths were better than those with malicious intent.

After gaining Yang Xiao’s permission, Kato Shinjiro approached to examine the remaining half of the left arm. The fracture was very peculiar, as if it suddenly vanished.

Kato Shinjiro leaned down and gently sniffed. This somewhat intimate action made Yang Xiao slightly uncomfortable, causing him to pull back his arm. "You won’t smell that paint scent. I’ve already had them try; only I can smell it."

"Is it still there now?" Kato Shinjiro asked, looking up.

"There’s still a faint trace at the fractured spot, like it’s blended into the flesh. But the scent is very weak now." Yang Xiao speculated that it wouldn’t take long for the smell to disappear.

"What did you two find today? Surely you didn’t return empty-handed, did you?" Takagi Reina looked at Yandeta Chiyoda and Watanabe Gou with a mocking tone.

Yandeta Chiyoda’s face turned dark. It was only due to the current circumstances that she restrained herself. Otherwise, in the real world outside, if this little witch dared to talk to her like that, she’d have someone tear her mouth apart.

Watanabe Gou, however, maintained his same expression, appearing very honest. He took out his phone from his pocket, "Of course we discovered something. Senior Sister Yuanda led me to find two other marked buildings, and we took photos."

Upon hearing this, everyone gathered around. There were about a dozen photos, divided into two parts. The first part showed an underground parking lot, which appeared spacious in the background, but housed relatively few cars.

The second set of photos was much livelier, depicting an underground street that was quite spacious, with shops lining both sides, bustling with people, and business thriving.

On a wall in the secluded part of the parking lot, a faintly visible red numeral 3 was painted on. Now, with the passage of time, the image has severely peeled off.

"This parking lot used to be Shelter No. 3, and the underground street is Shelter No. 10."

"We didn’t find the corresponding numerical mark on the street because the underground street has been significantly altered over the years. But we found some old photos for verification."

Watanabe Gou continued to scroll through the photos on his phone, having also taken some old photographs.

These photos were crumpled and yellowed at the edges, and combined with a part of the underground street’s structural background comparison, they could verify his claims.

The underground street was indeed converted from what used to be Shelter No. 10, and there was no reason for him to lie about this.

"What do you mean by a shelter?" Yang Xiao grasped the key point.

Putting away his phone, Watanabe Gou spoke solemnly, "This dates back to roughly 70 years ago, during a time of war. To protect the city’s residents as much as possible, the relevant departments embarked on large-scale construction, selecting various locations throughout the city to build over a dozen large shelters."

"According to our investigation, there were thirteen such shelters altogether, spread throughout the city. Now, most have been closed, with the remaining ones repurposed for other uses."

"We have thus far only found two, Shelter No. 3 which has been converted into a parking lot, and No. 10, into a bustling underground commercial street."

"There are only thirteen, so what about the station in Youjian Mountain?" Takagi Reina pressed on.

"Don’t rush, let me explain." Watanabe Gou had a knack for storytelling, keeping everyone on edge. "Although we haven’t tracked down Shelter No. 14, we found someone in the know, a security guard at the underground parking lot converted from Shelter No. 3, who is already in his seventies."

"According to his recollection, he heard some rumors about Shelter No. 14 when he was very young."

"Some say it was exclusively for high-ranking officials and stored inexhaustible supplies and delicacies. Others say it was a prison for detaining opponents of the authorities, while some gossip it was a secret research base..."

"In short, the rumors were varied and increasingly outlandish, but even now, at over seventy, the old man does not know what or where Shelter No. 14 is."

"In his view, it’s just a baseless rumor, a mere urban legend, and Shelter No. 14 never existed."

However, the old man didn’t know, but Yang Xiao and the others did, that Shelter No. 14 indeed existed, though for some reason, it appeared in the form of a station.

Oddly enough, this place was somehow connected to the Black Buddha Mother.

"Everyone, this afternoon I received a message from those people. I took it upon myself to tell them the clues we discovered, including Ogawa Haruka’s encounter last night."

Kato Shinjiro’s tone became cautious, "I also received some intelligence in return. They provided us with the station’s blueprint and informed us that currently, at least three ghosts are wandering inside the station."

"We can now confirm there are three ghosts." Xiao Lin Zhengyan perked up.

Kato Shinjiro looked at him and shook his head, "The Half Ghost on the Ghost Train doesn’t count. It’s not part of the station; besides it, there are three others." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"So that means in addition to the Water Ghost and the Paint Ghost, there’s another unidentified ghost inside the station." This wasn’t good news for everyone.

"Do you know the identity of the third ghost?" Yandeta Chiyoda asked.

"Unknown. They refuse to tell, or perhaps they themselves don’t know," Kato Shinjiro replied.
