Chapter 1874: Chapter 1065: Curse (Part 2)

"Everyone, we can’t just wait around to be killed; we must take action while there’s still time," Hirano Yuuhi said with a firm and confident voice.

After glancing at the wall clock, Yang Xiao suggested, "It’s 3 PM now, and there’s still some time before it gets dark. I propose we split into two teams: one team will follow the clues provided by Sasakimotoka and search along the station, focusing on Shirahata Station, which Sasaki Sakura believed to be the disembarkation point."

"The other group should stay behind, keeping an eye on the surroundings while remaining in the office. After all, I think we’ll have to be active in this area for the next few days," Yang Xiao added.

This was a conventional suggestion, and anyone with mission experience would arrange it this way. Thus, there were no objections, and everyone unanimously agreed.

However, when it came to who would go outside, there was a split. Yang Xiao definitely wanted to go to the station personally, but several people jointly vetoed him, citing concerns about exposing his identity as a foreigner and causing unnecessary trouble.

The explanation almost made Yang Xiao laugh. If they wanted to guard against him, they should just say it directly instead of making such superficial excuses.

Nonetheless, this incident was a reminder for Yang Xiao that these guys weren’t trustworthy, and he should be cautious in future collaborations.

Especially that middle-aged woman, Yandeta Chiyoda, whose seemingly peaceful face concealed a gaze of rejection. She really didn’t like him.

Yang Xiao didn’t care whether a middle-aged woman liked him or not, as long as he could survive, he was willing to cooperate with her temporarily; he could accept that.

But if she dared to play dirty tricks behind his back, Yang Xiao wouldn’t mind teaching her and others who prejudiced against him a lesson. His reputation as Rongcheng’s Extremely Fierce Tiger wasn’t for nothing.

Moreover, if they failed to kill him during the mission and he managed to escape alive, this wouldn’t be over. After leaving, Yang Xiao would certainly confront them for an explanation.

"Be safe on the road and don’t take unnecessary risks," Yang Xiao thought to himself, but as he saw off Yandeta Chiyoda and others, his face still bore a reassuring smile, and he reminded them to protect themselves.

After Yandeta Chiyoda and the others left, those remaining didn’t idle around and split into two teams again. One group stayed behind in the Detective Agency, and the other team, led by Watanabe Gou, scouted the surroundings.

Once most had left, only four people remained in the Detective Agency.

Yang Xiao, Takagi Reina, the terrified Slap Girl Yamamoto Chunai, and the food processing plant employee Xiao Lin Zhengyan.

Basically, aside from the voluntarily staying Takagi Reina and the excluded Yang Xiao, the other two were considered the least useful people.

Yamamoto Chunai was a complete novice, while Xiao Lin Zhengyan seemed inherently timid and submissive, the kind preferred by bosses who dare not resist any form of exploitation.

Xiao Lin Zhengyan even admitted that the last nightmare mission he participated in was one he barely scraped through.

He was fortunate to have relied on strong support during the mission. Though he wasn’t competent, he was obedient, and his strong ally led him to pass without injuries.

"So this time, you need to perform better. We have many skilled people here, and everyone will help each other," Yang Xiao noticed the middle-aged man’s nervousness and smiled to offer comfort.

He didn’t have the habit of looking down on newcomers. As long as they were well-behaved and obedient, he would help them as much as he could.

"Thank you... thank you, Chu Jun, you’re amazing. I hope you can look out for me in the future," Xiao Lin Zhengyan gratefully thanked Yang Xiao, bowing politely and emotionally moved.

The office wasn’t very large, so Yang Xiao and the others quickly conducted a thorough search, even moving the sofas. They found a few keys in a small box on the cluttered shelf behind the door.

Some keys still had keychains, clearly indicating they were house keys. In total, there were five, and meanwhile, Yang Xiao found several contract forms in a drawer.

They were rental contracts, a total of five.

"It seems these guys didn’t plan on staying here long-term. Otherwise, with their income, they could’ve bought a house already," Takagi Reina commented as she flipped through the rental contracts, assessing the original members of the Detective Agency.

"They also know what they’re doing can’t see the light of day; once exposed, they’d face pursuit by various powers. They estimate they shoot and move on, earn some money, and flee, not daring to stay long in any city," Yang Xiao analyzed.

"I don’t think they’d dare to go to big cities either; too many knowledgeable people there. A spell-type magical artifact is a valuable thing; once exposed, it could be deadly," Yang Xiao continued.

From these people’s ability to swindle money from ordinary folks, Yang Xiao inferred they weren’t very skilled; they probably just acquired this spell-type magical artifact by chance and dared only to bully average people.

Facing a fight with an Angel Envoy directly, they wouldn’t dare, nor did they have the ability.

Just as Yang Xiao was carefully examining these contracts, Takagi Reina patted his shoulder, nodding towards the door, "Hey, Yang Xiao, come with me for a bit."

"Where to?" Yang Xiao asked, confused by the interruption.

"The bathroom, I need to go," she replied.

"You want me to go with you to the bathroom?" Yang Xiao found the request a bit excessive; without a big sister to supervise, he always prided himself as a gentleman.

"Hey, you think I want to ask you? Look around, who else could I ask?" Takagi Reina put her hands on her hips, admonishing Yang Xiao with righteous indignation.

Yang Xiao looked around: one was the still-shocked Yamamoto Chunai, and the other was Xiao Lin Zhengyan, indeed...
