Chapter 1777: Chapter 1019: Flaw

There’s not much else to say tonight. Yang Xiao and Sato Shouta are staying together in the service room on the 7th floor, which makes Sato Shouta extremely happy. As long as he can see Yang Xiao, he feels at ease, "Mr. Yang, with you here, I can relax. You’re a very reliable friend!"

"Don’t be so optimistic, let’s get through tonight first," Yang Xiao wasn’t in as good a mood as Sato Shouta. Including tonight, it’s already their fourth night in this world. Six people have died, and they still haven’t figured out the Ghost’s experience before death. This is a setback for him, along with unknown risks.

Moreover, there’s another matter that casts a shadow over his heart. Tonight, they’re divided into five groups. Even among themselves, they’ve been split into four smaller groups.

In other words, tonight there’s a great chance that one of them might be killed by the Ghost.

Although he was mentally prepared before coming, when the real danger arrived, he couldn’t help but feel worried.

Perhaps sensing Yang Xiao’s anxiety, Sato Shouta comforted him while chewing on chocolate, "Mr. Yang, don’t be so tense. Mr. Qingshui is truly a responsible person. He volunteered to take on the most dangerous areas. With him here, we’ll be much safer tonight."

Hearing this, Yang Xiao was momentarily stunned, turning to look at him, "Why would you think that?"

"Isn’t it obvious? The 4th floor has to handle the service room duties, which is a tough task, and..." Sato Shouta lowered his voice, speaking mysteriously, "Mr. Yang, don’t forget, the 4th floor is ominous. Everyone who ever lived there died."

Sato Shouta continued his analysis, "The Ghost first appeared on the 6th floor, then the 5th floor, and then the safe passage between the 4th and 5th floors. By this calculation, won’t it be the 4th floor next? I don’t believe that Mr. Qingshui couldn’t see through something so simple."

Yang Xiao was shocked by Sato Shouta’s naivety but didn’t directly refute him. Instead, he posed a question: "How did Hasegawa Hideji die?"

"He committed too many wrongdoings and was punished by everyone," Sato Shouta replied.

"And Takagi Sayo?"

"Oh, she’s a pitiful woman. She was forced to death by Hasegawa Hideji. That guy really deserves to die; he also couldn’t escape the blame for Miss Sakura’s death." Recalling Hasegawa Hideji’s face, Sato Shouta was filled with anger, feeling it was truly repulsive.

"One was punished to death, and the other committed suicide. What does that have to do with the Ghost?" Yang Xiao finally pointed out the central issue.

Upon hearing this, Sato Shouta clearly pondered for a moment before nodding, "Mr. Yang, you’re right!"

"Furthermore, the Ghost has appeared on several floors, and the people killed are scattered across different levels. Mitsuo Takeda died in the lobby on the first floor, but no Ghost has appeared on the 4th floor, and no one there has been killed by the Ghost. In fact, the Ghost has never entered any of the service rooms. Tell me, where in this building is safer than the place they’re in tonight?" Yang Xiao questioned.

Sato Shouta could feel that Yang Xiao’s emotions were clearly a bit agitated, almost as if he was angry. But he couldn’t understand why, even if he guessed wrong, shouldn’t Yang Xiao control his temper better?

"Yang... Mr. Yang, don’t be angry. It’s my fault, I..."

Sato Shouta instinctively wanted to explain, but Yang Xiao didn’t give him the opportunity, releasing pent-up emotions all at once, "How many times have I told you, don’t trust anyone easily. In this world, the only person you can truly trust is yourself, only yourself, understand?!"

Sato Shouta was scared by Yang Xiao, almost speechless. Since knowing Yang Xiao, it’s the first time he’s seen him lose his temper this way.

The service room fell into prolonged silence. Sato Shouta didn’t dare make a sound until Yang Xiao took the initiative to break the silence, "Sorry, Mr. Sato, I lost my composure. I apologize to you."

"No, not at all, Mr. Yang, you’re my benefactor and also my friend. You’ve helped me a lot. It should be me apologizing to you," Sato Shouta quickly said.

Yang Xiao shook his head upon hearing this, "No, Mr. Sato, you don’t understand. There are things I cannot tell you right now, but I hope that someday in the future, when I make a certain decision, you’ll understand me."

"I’m helpless, truly helpless," Yang Xiao’s voice grew weaker as he spoke.

The next second, Sato Shouta stepped forward and hugged Yang Xiao, patting him vigorously on the back, "Mr. Yang, no matter what decision you make, I will support you. My father told me once that the bond between men is paramount. We’re friends, and friends should understand each other, through fire and brimstone, Mr. Yang!"

"Didn’t you ask your father what ’irreconcilable differences’ mean?" Yang Xiao couldn’t help but smile bitterly inside.

Time ticked away, Sato Shouta was responsible for the first half of the night, while Yang Xiao retreated to the back room to catch up on sleep. The glass door of the rest area remained open so they could immediately sense any situation.

After a day of fussing, and hardly sleeping last night, Yang Xiao dared not sleep during the second half when the Ghost kills. He could only choose to nap now. His energy was heavily drained, and soon he drowsily fell asleep.

Uncertain how much time had passed, in his daze, he felt a hand gently pushing him from behind, and almost instantly, Yang Xiao woke up.

He saw clearly; a figure was crouching beside his bed. It was Sato Shouta!
