Chapter 1608: Chapter 943: Fu Qingzhu 3

If someone else had said it, Yang Xiao would have been cautious, but since it’s Fu Qingzhu, there’s no need. Although Fu Qingzhu is seen by outsiders as ruthless and willing to do anything to achieve his goals, to Yang Xiao, he is a reliable friend, and that’s enough.

At exactly 8 PM, a light rain started to fall. It was late autumn, and the rain brought a chill. The cold wind penetrated Yang Xiao’s thin windbreaker as he got out of the car, flipping up his collar. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Director Yang, welcome for guidance." As soon as he got out of the car, Fu Qingzhu approached with a mischievous grin, opened his arms, and hugged him.

"My good brother, how have you been lately?" Fu Qingzhu patted Yang Xiao’s back and pulled him along, "Come, let me show you my new office. Just finished renovation, it’s terrific!"

Taking the elevator, Yang Xiao was soon led to a spacious office. Upon arrival, he was stunned by the scene before him—decorated with an elegant, antique style, featuring a mountain-and-river screen that seemed like jade and a giant tea table.

This place was nothing like the office he imagined, more like a high-end club.

Just the tea table and nearby areas alone were larger than Yang Xiao’s entire office.

"Is this your office?" Yang Xiao looked around, feeling incredulous, "Given your rank, isn’t this against regulations?"

"Of course not. This used to be the office space for three vice presidents. I arranged for the other two to leave and combined their and my office spaces." Fu Qingzhu surveyed his office with pride.

"Arranged to leave? Where did you arrange for them to go?" A sense of unease washed over Yang Xiao.

Fu Qingzhu chuckled upon hearing this, patting Yang Xiao’s shoulder, "My good brother, what are you imagining? I sent them home. These two were cooperative enough to resign willingly; otherwise, I would indeed have planned to deal with them."

As if recalling something, Fu Qingzhu smirked, "You don’t know, these two old fellows used to trip me up a lot, relying on their seniority. Now, retiring with all limbs intact is quite a favor for them."

"Let bygones be bygones, don’t go too far. You have to give others a way out." Yang Xiao had heard too much about Fu Qingzhu’s methods. After the old President Qiu Huai De’s death, he had swept through the Rongcheng Association, not only sidelining the newly appointed President sent from above but also dealing with several vice presidents who opposed him. His firm hand left even an old martial arts figure like Nalan Shuo deeply impressed.

"I give them a way out, but who the hell gives me one? If you hadn’t pulled me up, I might have been buried in Chaos Burial Mound!" Fu Qingzhu’s emotions suddenly surged, "Keeping them alive is already giving them a lot of face!"

After these words, Yang Xiao was at a loss for what to say. Fu Qingzhu’s statements were indeed facts; outsiders only saw Fu Qingzhu’s madness and ruthless side but missed how much he had suffered to get here, how many times he had been on the brink of death.

"Without experiencing others’ hardships, don’t persuade them to be kind," Yang Xiao thought, considering that if he were Fu Qingzhu, he might not spare those who had harmed him.

"Alright, brother, today let’s not talk about these things. I’m going to give you a gift." Fu Qingzhu stood up, motioning for Yang Xiao to follow him.

The two took the elevator deep underground to the third basement floor, where they passed through a dim, narrow corridor reaching a heavily guarded secret room.

This underground area resembled a prison, and it was Yang Xiao’s first time knowing there was such a place.

"Bring the person out," Fu Qingzhu ordered the guards.

Shortly, two men dragged out a man by his arms.

The man looked terribly miserable, covered in blood and barely alive, evidently having undergone severe torture. But this scene for Yang Xiao was nothing—holding the Ghost Bamboo Stick, he was a master in this area.

"Wake him up for me," Fu Qingzhu sat on a chair brought by the guard, and Yang Xiao received similar treatment.

After the man was shocked awake with cold water, he soon confessed what he knew. Only then did Yang Xiao learn that this person was one of the unidentified Angel Envoys that Nalan Shuo had warned him about.

The man couldn’t bear inactivity, sneaking into Rongcheng looking for fun, only to be caught by Fu Qingzhu’s watcher at the entertainment venue and brought here.

"His words are too vague; the specifics are all here." Fu Qingzhu handed Yang Xiao a kraft paper bag. "About fifty people came, scattered in three bases outside the city. Each base has a leader, and the leader of this man’s base is quite strong, almost reaching Ghost Level strength."

"Inside here are details of people this person is familiar with at their base, but unfortunately, he doesn’t know much. He isn’t aware of the details regarding the other two bases," Fu Qingzhu explained.

"Why have they come here?" Yang Xiao asked while examining the documents.

"To kill, but he doesn’t know who they’re targeting. This person is too low in rank. According to him, only the leaders of the three bases know," Fu Qingzhu explained.

"Killing..." Yang Xiao frowned. So many people targeting someone could not be ordinary, they must possess Ghost Level power at least.

Truth be told, at that moment, the most likely candidate he could think of was himself.
