Chapter 1261: Chapter 836: Farewell

"What are you looking at?" Sopa asked curiously, staring at Yang Xiao sitting across from him.

Regarding Musa’s warning, Yang Xiao did not hide it from the two teammates, as there was no need to.

He handed the note to Sopa, who, after reading it, had a somewhat strange expression and nodded, "Adila is not a trustworthy person. My brother also warned me to stay away from him."

Hafeez also craned his neck to look at the note. After a moment, he looked at Yang Xiao with some confusion, "Chu, the mission is almost over. Adila has no reason to harm his teammates, right? Or does it mean they’ll definitely encounter trouble tonight?"

In the past, Yang Xiao might not have answered every question from newcomers, but Hafeez was different. Yang Xiao had a good impression of him.

"They will definitely encounter trouble. There’s no absolutely safe place in this mission. Those two will face the pursuit of corpse ghosts. It’s possible Adila might use Mr. Musa as a shield, something he’s done before," Yang Xiao explained.

"But now that we know the way the ghosts kill, theoretically, their risk should not be high." After thinking for a moment, Sopa voiced his opinion.

Yet Yang Xiao shook his head, his gaze cast towards the depths of the fog, "Not necessarily. Think about it, how many times have we lured out the Ghost Ship using corpses?"

"The... third time," Hafeez answered quickly.

"What about the results of the first two times? Each time at least one life was lost."

Hafeez opened his mouth wide, past scenes flashing through his mind. Last night Maria died, and the night before that, Aisha and Shari died.

"Are you saying that the corpse ghosts we’ve provoked are different from those Ghost Village People we encountered in River Immortal Village, that they won’t leave without killing?" Sopa was also a bit frightened by his own thought.

"I don’t know." At this point, Yang Xiao spoke candidly. He wouldn’t make things up about unknowns, but he didn’t rule out the possibility.

After all, these corpse ghosts that came by boat gave him a different feeling. They were actively lured out, and their pursuit lasted much longer.

"Hush—" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Suddenly, Sopa, sitting to the side, stared behind Yang Xiao, signaling for everyone to keep silent.

Yang Xiao’s first reaction was to look at the pitch-black ghost behind Hafeez, but it was very obedient, like a withered tree root, motionless.

"Splash—"

"Splash—"

Yang Xiao dared not turn around, but he heard the sound of water waves, causing his heart to clench.

According to earlier estimates, they were still some distance from "River Immortal Village"; they shouldn’t have reached the shore so soon.

Meanwhile, Hafeez, who was sitting next to Sopa, seemed to see something terrifying, his mouth agape with shock, and soon after, he hurriedly covered his mouth.

"Splash—"

"Splash—"

The sound of the waves grew clearer, almost brushing against Yang Xiao’s back, very chaotic. He discerned that it was another boat.

Behind him, a boat was pacing alongside them.

At this moment, there shouldn’t be any living people on the lake besides them. Yang Xiao instinctively held his breath, as he already detected a waft of stench of corpses.

It was the Ghost Ship!

A Ghost Ship sailed out of the mist behind them!

Yang Xiao’s brain worked rapidly; he couldn’t comprehend why the corpse ghosts supposed to be attracted by Musa Adila abandoned them and came back for the three of them.

Could it be because of the pitch-black ghost?

After all, at this moment, the pitch-black ghost was on Hafeez’s back.

But this was not on land; they were on the lake. If attacked, they had nowhere to escape.

Yang Xiao calmed himself, as the seconds passed by, the water sounds behind them gradually faded away, and soon Yang Xiao noticed from Hafeez and Sopa’s reactions that the Ghost Ship had left.

"What happened?" Once confirmed safe, Yang Xiao asked Sopa.

Sopa’s face was pale as he stammered, "It... it was them! They came back, Aisha, Shari, Davi, and... and Juan, they were all there!"

"All on the same boat?" The thought made Yang Xiao’s back chill.

"Yes, yes, on one boat!" Seeing those eerily sinister faces of their former teammates, Hafeez’s already unstable mental state almost collapsed.

Yang Xiao might not have seen it, but Hafeez saw very clearly—those "resurrected" former teammates stood stiffly along the boat’s railing, staring straight at them through the thin mist.

"Was Datou on the boat?" Yang Xiao suddenly asked.

"No," Sopa replied, but soon painfully shook his head, "I can’t be sure either. There are shadows on the boat, but it’s unclear."

"Which direction did the boat go?" This was Yang Xiao’s main concern.

Sopa raised his hand, pointing to the other side of the lake. Following her gesture, Yang Xiao’s face darkened, as it was the direction of the shore they had set off from, where Adila and Musa were.

"They are in trouble," Yang Xiao worried, as Musa’s mobility was poor; should they face a prolonged chase, it could be disastrous.

Especially with the restless time bomb that is Adila by his side.

"Look quickly!" Hafeez, filled with low spirits, widened his eyes as if discovering a new continent, pointing towards the bow.

At this moment, the thin mist over the lake gradually dispersed, revealing a dense forest in front of the three.

In the dim forest, shrouded in mist with protruding hills, this scene, straight out of a horror movie, unfolded before Hafeez.
