Chapter 1140: Chapter 774: Prisoner

The Dharma Sect elder removed the waist badge he wore, and immediately a Magic Disciple with a mole by his cheek stepped forward, accepting the badge with both hands. The elder then whispered a few instructions to him in a deep voice.

A moment later, the Magic Disciple turned around, gazing coldly at Yang Xiao, speaking harshly: "Follow me."

Following the disciple out the back door, Yang Xiao treaded on a path paved with white goose egg stones, walked for quite a while, and finally arrived at a heavily guarded small courtyard.

Outside the gate were two Magic Disciples standing guard, one carrying a knife, the other holding a戒棍, both with fierce and villainous expressions.

After the guide displayed the waist badge, the gatekeepers opened the courtyard gate and let them inside.

Stepping over the threshold, the courtyard was similarly tightly guarded, with four Magic Disciple guards dressed in white robes, and the leader among them was a one-armed elder. He sat cross-legged on a meditation mat in the courtyard, embodying an air of a sage, clearly not an ordinary person.

Yang Xiao guessed this person was undoubtedly a Ghost-level Apostle, could he be the Dead Mouth Lama?

The guide took a cloth bundle, turned around and handed it to Yang Xiao, speaking with a hostile expression: "The person you want to meet is inside, but before entering, you must know a few rules."

"First rule: Inside, you must wear a mask at all times, cannot take it off, nor reveal your identity."

"Second rule: Forbidden to ask any questions related to the Dharma Sect."

"Third rule: No physical contact with the Lama, especially not inquiring about the Lama’s identity, violators will be severely punished!"

After obtaining Yang Xiao’s promise, someone led him to a secluded room in the courtyard.

This room was rather unusual, constructed not of common wood or cement bricks, but large stone slabs stacked together, appearing very sturdy.

The room had no windows, only a black iron door; it’s easy to imagine that living inside would be very oppressive. Such a place only reminded Yang Xiao of one thing, a prison.

The so-called Dead Mouth Lama was imprisoned here; he was a prisoner of the Dharma Sect.

"You don’t have much time, hurry up," urged the Magic Disciple who followed behind.

The large lock on the iron door had already been opened, the iron chain removed, and inside the bundle was a Ghost Face Mask, which Yang Xiao now wore on his face. He took a deep breath, pushed open the iron door, and stepped into the room.

Inside, the room lacked lights, damp and dark, with a chill in the air. The next second, Yang Xiao’s gaze halted, as deep within the room was an Iron Sedan parked.

Yang Xiao slowly approached; the sedan was quite old, the edges already showing rust, and its size was much larger than ordinary sedans. Each side of the sedan hung a White Lantern, its candlelight flickering, casting shadows around.

"Is anyone there?" Yang Xiao asked aloud.

"Ask," an elderly, gravelly voice rasped from within the sedan, sounding like sand scraping against a blade.

Yang Xiao’s brows furrowed; this was definitely not a normal elder’s voice, this person’s throat must have been ruined by poison.

Before coming, Professor Cui had warned him that this opportunity was precious, to ask the most important questions, and assured him that this so-called Dead Mouth Lama would never reveal secrets.

Now, Yang Xiao had many questions he wanted to ask, such as the identity of the Opera Robe Ghost, how to restrain her, who held Ghost Lantern’s handle, the whereabouts of Yu Yuan Sect’s former Sect Master, and of lower priority, the identity of the Alien Race girl.

However, the Nether Garment is his lifeline; he absolutely would not disclose such a thing to anyone, and it’s not appropriate to ask about the Alien Race girl now. If she had any association with the Dharma Sect, it would be one thing, but if her family opposed the Dharma Sect, it would only harm her.

Yang Xiao’s worries aren’t without reason, after all, the Yin Temple isn’t just one but a coalition of over a hundred tribes of varying sizes. The relationships within are complex, beyond what he can unravel at present.

After brief consideration, Yang Xiao had formulated his plans; he stood before the Iron Sedan, first clasping his fists in salute to the person inside, though a thick curtain might obscure him from view.

"Senior, I’d like to know the whereabouts of Yu Yuan Sect’s former Sect Master." As long as this person remains alive, Yang Xiao is restless even in sleep.

"Don’t know, don’t recognize." Immediately, a voice filled with impatience sounded from inside the sedan.

Yang Xiao: "???"

Yang Xiao considered many possible outcomes, but never that the other would simply answer "don’t know."

In the next instant, Yang Xiao’s heart surged with nameless anger; he knew Professor Cui had gone through great lengths to secure this opportunity for him. If he returned like this, wouldn’t the money spent be wasted?

"What do you mean by that, not knowing anything yet running a place?" Yang Xiao had initially thought this was similar to the Peace Hotel, but now sees it’s entirely different.

Seconds later, a clear metallic sound of friction came from within the Iron Sedan, like chains moving. The elder’s impatient voice rang again, still carrying weakness, "I only handle questions related to Magic Artifacts, know nothing else."

After a few exchanges, Yang Xiao noticed the person spoke fluently, with no strong accent; he quietly speculated about the elder’s identity, suspecting he, like himself, was also from the country.

"Ask quickly if you’re going to ask, otherwise... I’m asking you to leave." The elder inside the iron sedan was very irritable.

"Ask." Yang Xiao quickly seized the opportunity, put down his backpack, reached in, and the moment he touched the Nether Garment, immediately pulled out the Ghost Lantern, "Senior, please examine this artifact."

"Bring it up."

As Yang Xiao neared with the Ghost Lantern, the curtain on the sedan door slowly opened, and with the faint light, Yang Xiao saw someone sitting inside the sedan.
