Chapter 1044: Chapter 724: Discharge_3
It was a jeep, with both doors open, and nobody inside. He had never seen it before.
An uneasy feeling fermented in his heart. Yang Xiao ran over to check and found Boss Sun’s corpse inside the van. The strong smell of gasoline lingered in the air, and half a bucket of gasoline was left discarded by the car.
Boss Sun was dead. Yang Xiao didn’t see Qu Hong’s body nearby, but he estimated that her chances were slim.
Boss Sun had been stabbed three times, twice in the chest and once in the throat. The cuts were smooth and clean, indicating an experienced hand. Yang Xiao could roughly guess that those whom Boss Sun had offended came for revenge.
"Director Yang, let’s go. It looks like that person got taken out too," Captain Zhou sighed. Although there was temporarily enough time, it was better not to stir up more trouble.
Yang Xiao lowered his head, using a flashlight to search the ground. It had rained tonight, leaving many chaotic footprints. Yang Xiao quickly confirmed that these people had run into the forest in front of him, which was the opposite direction of where he was hiding.
"Hiss—"
Yang Xiao deduced that Qu Hong must have sensed something wrong and used herself as bait to lure these killers away. She knew she couldn’t let them find herself.
"Director Yang, you..."
"Captain Zhou, wait for me a minute, I need to find someone. If not, you go first, I’ll follow soon." Without further words, Yang Xiao pursued the footprints into the forest.
But within seconds, Yang Xiao heard footsteps approaching from behind; it was Captain Zhou catching up.
"I’ll accompany you. Two people are faster," Captain Zhou was not one to talk needlessly. He did not ask Yang Xiao for a reason. He knew since Yang Xiao had made a choice, he must have his reasons.
Three minutes at most; that was the time limit Captain Zhou set for himself. If by then, Yang Xiao hadn’t decided to leave, it would be his own concern.
"I’m looking for a woman named Qu Hong." As soon as Yang Xiao spoke, he sensed something unsettling. He raised his head and looked into the forest ahead, where a gray haze loomed.
The flashlight couldn’t even dispel that haze; it seemed as if it was sucked in by some force.
This feeling was all too familiar to Yang Xiao; it was that Geisha Face, signaling the start of a new paranormal event!
"Captain Zhou, retreat!" Yang Xiao felt something was wrong and turned around to run.
"There’s someone!" Captain Zhou, not far from Yang Xiao, suddenly shouted.
Following Captain Zhou’s pointing finger, they saw a mud-covered person leaning against the back of a tree, head drooping, motionless, uncertain if alive or dead.
Yang Xiao recognized immediately; it was Qu Hong, but her jacket and pants were missing.
Qu Hong was not in the eerie fog, which strengthened Yang Xiao’s resolve to save her. He and Captain Zhou rushed over, and as Yang Xiao squatted down to lift Qu Hong’s face, he was shocked to find her eyes gouged out, leaving two bloody holes.
More horrifying was that her shoulders were tied with a severed hand each, one big, one small, clearly belonging to two different people.
"She’s still breathing!" Captain Zhou checked Qu Hong’s carotid artery, detecting a weak pulse.
Yang Xiao tore off the severed hands and was about to carry her on his back, but Captain Zhou stopped him, "Here, let me carry her." Captain Zhou crouched down, his sturdy physique and strength surpassing Yang Xiao’s.
With Captain Zhou carrying the unconscious Qu Hong on his back, Yang Xiao led the way, and the three headed towards the hospital.
During the bumpy run, Qu Hong suddenly woke up and, almost reflexively, gripped Captain Zhou’s neck from behind, "It’s me, Qu Hong!" Yang Xiao shouted loudly.
Upon hearing Yang Xiao’s voice, Qu Hong paused for a few seconds, then tears of blood streamed down her cheeks as she wailed uncontrollably.
"Well done, mark this as a merit!" Yang Xiao comforted her, then quickly rushed into the hospital building with Captain Zhou.
