Chapter 104: Chapter 104: First Meeting with Lady Death

The Death Realm was not a place of decay, but the embodiment of finality itself.

It existed beyond the veil of mortal perception, a dimension where time had lost all meaning and the concept of end was the only law that held true.

The sky was a colorless void, a canvas that had never known light, stretching infinitely in every direction. Beneath it, the ground was formed from crystallized moments of demise, trillions upon trillions of final breaths compressed into a solid surface. Rivers of silver flowed not with water, but with the last thoughts of the departed, whispering secrets no living ear could ever bear.

At the center of this impossible expanse rose a throne carved from the concept of mortality itself, an obsidian seat that was simultaneously a chair, a grave, and a crown. It sat upon a dais of fallen stars, each one a sun that had exhausted its purpose and surrendered to the dark.

Upon this throne sat Lady Death.

She was not merely beautiful; she was the idea of beauty that existed at the edge of existence, the kind that made mortals willingly surrender their last breath just to glimpse her once. Her hair the color of dying galaxies cascading past shoulders, and eyes like endless voids that held the weight of every soul to have ever crossed her domain.

As she idly traced patterns through the air, casually shaping the fates of worlds, she suddenly noticed a young man standing before her.

Had he just appeared, or had he always been there? It was impossible to tell. It was as though he had simply allowed reality to perceive him now.

He wore ordinary clothes with his hands tucked into his pockets, his expression carrying nothing but casual boredom. He glanced around as though he were inspecting an unremarkable place rather than the domain of Death itself.

Lady Death’s fingers stilled. Her void-eyes widened, a fleeting expression of surprise that had not crossed her face since the first star had died.

"So... you are here." She purred, her voice carrying the weight of a billion final whispers, yet somehow warm, somehow alive in a way that made the crystallized ground tremble.

"You were the one calling for me," he said, his tone flat, unhurried. "So, here I am."

A short while ago, he felt a pull, a summon that had reached across dimensions, across the very fabric of existence, tugging at the edges of his being like a child pulling at a god’s sleeve.

It was the most powerful summoning ever attempted in the history of all realities, fueled by the desperate will of Death itself. Yet it was ultimately meaningless. Nothing could compel the man unless he willed it himself.

Still, out of curiosity, he decided to come. It was much the same reason a man might visit a neighbor who simply wouldn’t stop knocking.

"And what should I call you?" Lady Death said, her voice dropping into a register that made the silver rivers flow faster, a soul-melting purr that had driven madmen to worship and gods to despair.

"Mu Chen." He replied.

"Mu Chen." She tasted the name, rolling it across a tongue that had spoken the final words of universes. "You seem... calm, despite standing before Death."

Mu Chen looked at her with genuine, mild amusement, as though she had just told him a joke that was almost funny.

"Death? It’s just a concept. One that can be played with at my whim." He shrugged, the gesture so casual it bordered on insulting. "Why would I be afraid of it?"

The words lingered in the air like a drawn blade.

Lady Death felt something she had not experienced in eons, a flicker of genuine emotion. It was neither boredom nor amusement, but something dangerously close to... blasphemy.

He spoke of Death as a toy. As a whim. And was she not Death? Was this not her realm, her essence, her very being?

Was he not saying, indirectly, that he could play with her?

"Is that so?" Lady Death’s smile widened, and it was terrifying. It was the smile of a predator that had finally found prey worthy of the hunt.

All of a sudden, the Death Realm screamed, and the full, crushing weight of her authority descended upon Mu Chen. This was not an attack of energy or force, it was the very concept of End itself, given form and fury.

The crystallized ground erupted into a tsunami of final moments, every death that had ever occurred across every reality compressed into a single, obliterating wave. The rivers of silver reversed their flow, becoming spears of absolute termination that pierced through dimensions.

Even the colorless sky folded in on itself, transforming into a crushing weight that sought to unmake the intruder at the conceptual level.

Lady Death attacked with the totality of her domain: entropy accelerated to infinity, the heat death of universes condensed into a single point, the inevitable end of all things given shape, purpose, and malice.

And Mu Chen simply stood there, his hands still tucked in his pockets, his hair ruffled by a cool breeze and that was all.

The tsunami of death crashed into him and simply... stopped, as though reality itself had decided the wave no longer wished to exist in his presence. The silver spears of termination brushed his shoulder before dissolving into nothing, their purpose forgotten.

The crushing sky descended, only to find itself somewhere else, suddenly confused as to why it had been so hostile.

Entropy, the heat death of universes, and conceptual annihilation. All of it passed over him like a gentle spring breeze, tousling his hair and making his clothes flutter ever so slightly.

"Hmmm.... is this why you called me?" Mu Chen said, his tone carrying the same mild curiosity as before, as though she had merely shown him a card trick instead of trying to erase him from existence.

The embodiment of Death stared at him. She, who could unmake galaxies with a thought, who was the inevitable end encoded into the fabric of reality itself, had struck with everything she possessed... and accomplished nothing more than giving him a cool breeze.

"No. I was merely measuring the weight of your words," Lady Death said, her voice noticeably softer as she rose from her throne. "And I must say... you intrigue me. Out of all observable reality, you are someone I cannot perceive."

She found herself growing increasingly captivated as she slowly walked toward him. Since the beginning of time, countless souls had begged, bargained, and wept for her attention.

Gods, demons, cosmic entities, and mad titans had all sought her favor, yet she had never once felt the desire to look any closer. They all wanted her, but every one of them was predictable and boring.

Only now did she realize what she had truly yearned for all along. Someone who would neither grovel before her nor worship her. Someone capable of driving her brilliant mind into complete obsession.

And Mu Chen was that person.

Her cosmic awareness, which could read the final page of every being’s story before they knew the first word, found only a void where Mu Chen stood. A mystery that defied her, that stood outside the narrative she had written for all existence.

His unfairly handsome appearance, his casual indifference as though the Death Realm were nothing more than a coffee shop, and his unfathomable power that effortlessly dismissed the very concept she embodied.

Everything about him drew her in, leaving her more mesmerized with every passing second.
