Chapter 234: Some information
splash
As much as he wanted to remain in the water and comfort her a little longer, they did not have the entire night to spare.
Checking the timer, he saw that he had roughly five and a half hours left before he needed to reach the ocean and return her to her family.
Worst thing couldnhappen was him not reaching the ocean and the system forcibly pushing out of the dungeon.
It would be disastrous since Synthia would be left alone in the wild with no option of reaching her house or this place. No, he couldn’t let that happen. He needed to act fast.
Once he stepped out of the water, he pulled off his vest and said, "I’ve already planned everything and mapped out the route. Your job is simple..." He tossed the vest aside before finishing, "...stay as quiet as possible. Only speak if the water level starts getting dangerously low, okay?"
He knew that monsters at this hour, especially the alpha ones were very active. They hunt at night and store food for their families.
The system has already warned him that if Luke wandered outside the perimeter drawn on the map then he could meet anything there. That’s why, he has to remain cautious and keep Synthia as silent as possible.
’Haah, I need to stop overthinking.’
A moment later, he removed his lowers as well, leaving himself in nothing but a pair of shorts.
When no response came, he turned toward her.
Only to find Synthia staring at him in complete silence.
"Hmm?" he asked, one brow lifting.
"Luke... what happened to you?" she asked, her gaze fixed entirely on him. "Why are you glowing like that?"
His entire body had become almost translucent. Every contour appeared impossibly pristine and clear, giving him an ethereal quality that felt distinctly inhuman. He looked less like a man and more like a being descended from the heavens themselves.
Luke glanced down at his own body.
This was the first time he had seen the Lunar Warden form in its full glory as well, and he could understand her reaction.
He had become... beautiful.
Not merely handsome, but beautiful in a way that defied comparison. The models and pop idols from his previous world did not even come close. In fact, comparing this form to any physique he had ever seen felt almost insulting.
His skin was flawless, so clear and luminous that every trace of his wounds had vanished. He has sort of transcended.
"You look like those elves..." Synthia murmured.
The words instantly caught his attention.
"Elves?" Luke repeated, turning toward her. "You’ve seen elves here?"
That was an unexpectedly fascinating discovery.
Naturally, he was familiar with the term from his previous life. In fantasy settings, dwarves and elves were among the most common races to appear. The possibility that actual elves existed in this world immediately piqued his curiosity.
"I haven’t seen them myself, but the elders often speak of them," Synthia replied. "They dwell far to the west. Their numbers are few, yet they are said to be vastly superior to both us and humans."
She added the last part somewhat hesitantly, worried he might take offense.
"Is that so?" Luke sounded more intrigued than insulted. "Superior in what sense? Martial strength? Magic?"
Synthia shook her head.
"I’m not sure. The elders mostly talk about their creations. They say the elves possess tools and artifacts unlike anything the other races have. Those inventions are what make them so powerful and prosperous."
Luke’s interest visibly deepened.
A race capable of producing advanced artifacts was certainly worth learning more about.
Still, he resisted the urge to continue the discussion. They had more pressing matters to deal with.
Without much thought, he removed his shorts.
Synthia immediately spun around.
"Luke!" she cried. "You shouldn’t expose yourself in front of a woman like that!"
Luke blinked in confusion.
"You know what this is?" he asked honestly looking at a certain part of his body. "I thought fish reproduced by laying eggs in the water."
Summoning a towel, he casually began drying himself.
"We’re not exactly fish!" Synthia protested before abruptly freezing.
A moment later, she lowered her voice into an embarrassed mumble.
"Ah... I’ve already seen it now. Sorry, Pinna..."
Heat slowly crept across her cheeks as she apologized to her mate.
Luke, meanwhile, remained completely unaffected as he changed into a new pair of clothes, much better and easier to move in.
One thing he learned about them...they have sex to reproduce. Nice.
Once he was finished, Luke said, "You can turn around now. I’m fully dressed."
Synthia did not trust him immediately.
Instead, she cautiously glanced over her shoulder first. Only after confirming that he was indeed wearing clothes and walking away from the pond did she relax.
Her gaze followed him until he suddenly summoned a large container out of thin air.
"Waah..." Her eyes widened. "How do you do that?"
Luke offered no explanation.
Instead, he crouched beside the tank he had purchased for two Gamma Points and began inspecting it.
The container was made of durable hard plastic. Lightweight enough not to strain his back too much, yet sturdy enough to hold a considerable amount of water without breaking.
After checking its condition, he measured its depth by tilting it.
Then he recalled Synthia’s size from when she had jumped onto him earlier.
From the tip of her tail to the top of her head, she was slightly over six feet long.
The tank itself was roughly six feet in length.
Which meant there was only one conclusion.
Her head was inevitably going to stick out.
Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
Still, this was already the largest container he could find that remained practical enough to carry over a long distance.
It would have to do.
’Now that I have the Lunar Warden’s powers, carrying her while hunting beasts along the way should be much easier.’
The timing could not have been better.
Had he awakened this physique any later, the journey ahead would have become far more troublesome.
Without wasting another second, Luke turned toward Synthia.
"You’ll need to get inside once I fill it with water," he explained, gesturing toward the tank. "Your head will probably stick out, and breathing might become uncomfortable. You’ll have to adjust somehow and make the best of the space. Do you think you can manage?"
Synthia studied the container carefully.
Her eyes traced its length and depth before she finally nodded.
"It will be difficult," she admitted. "But I’ll try."
She understood this was not about comfort.
Every moment of discomfort she endured would bring her one step closer to home.
Luke was doing everything he could to return her to her family. The least she could do was bear a little inconvenience.
Seeing her determination, Luke nodded in approval.
"Alright, then."
He reached into his inventory and pulled out several lengths of rope.
"Give me a little time," he said as he began preparing the tank. "After that, we’ll be saying goodbye to this place."
