Chapter 205: Wiped Out!

Their swords and axes pointed downward. Directly at the Yuimons. They fell like rain, green-eyed soldiers descending from above, their weapons aimed at the Yuimons’ heads and necks.

The creatures looked up, their circular mouths opening in surprise, but it was too late. The knights were already upon them.

The attack was devastating.

Twattvhk! The first knight struck, his axe burying itself deep in a Yuimon’s skull, splitting bone and flesh.

The creature’s body went rigid, its circular mouth twitching once before going still.

Pwartck!

Another knight landed on a second Yuimon, his sword piercing through the armored hide and into the soft tissue beneath.

The Yuimon roared in pain, but the sound was cut short as more knights descended, their weapons finding gaps in the armor, striking at joints and necks.

The undeads already fighting on the ground moved back as the upper ones landed, creating space for the deadly rain of steel.

They had been pressing the Yuimons from the front, holding them in place, keeping them distracted.

Now, with the knights dropping from above, they joined in all at once to finish the job.

The wolves darted in, snapping at the creatures’ legs, forcing them to shift their weight. The Rops attacked from the flanks, their wide mouths tearing at exposed flesh. The undead Yuimons pressed forward, their massive bodies overwhelming the living ones.

The Yuimons couldn’t even shout this time. All of his undeads were on them. Even the Slitherer, which Darion hadn’t seen until now, was definitely slithering in the battlefield, doing damages that seemed too little for the normal eyes to see.

It moved between the legs of the creatures, its armored body coiling and striking, its circular mouth tearing at tendons and joints. It was small compared to the Yuimons, but it was relentless, and every wound it inflicted added to the chaos.

They all joined in executing these creatures, these Yuimons that had proved so difficult. They were all wiped out. Not a single one of them here.

"Woahh!" Seren exclaimed as she looked at Darion and then back at the scene. She took a step forward now, toward the scene. Her bow was still in her hand, but she had lowered it completely. There was no need to shoot anymore. The fight was over.

Darion smiled. He couldn’t blame her reaction.

Yeah, he knew, this finishing was really cool, and thinking about it now, what even made him decide on something like this?

Perhaps the fight would just have ended on the ground. Maybe if he had pushed harder, they would have won it. The undeads were strong, the Yuimons were losing ground, and it was only a matter of time before they fell.

But sending undead knights to climb on trees and having them descend downwards was definitely dramatic in every way.

It was risky. It was theatrical. It was the kind of move that either ended the battle in seconds or got a lot of undeads destroyed.

But it had worked, and it had sealed it. So quickly. So fast. Made him think that perhaps if he had started earlier, this would have been quicker.

Not exactly, because you had to let the fight go on for some time.

When the Yuimons first emerged, they had been very aggressive, fighting so brutally, pressing so devastatingly.

If he had tried the tree tactic too early, the creatures would have been too alert, too focused on the attackers, too ready to react.

They would have seen the knights climbing, would have seen the ambush coming, and they would have been ready.

Timing the landing well was even good. He had to make sure it landed well because if the Yuimons sensed you as you just took off, they would just open their mouths, things that looked like a grinding machine, and obliterate Darion’s undeads.

The circular mouths were designed to crush and grind, and they would have made short work of any knight caught mid-descent. So this was definitely better.

He had waited until the Yuimons were distracted, until they were fully engaged with the ground forces, and then he had struck.

Darion walked to the Yuimons now. Time to revive his hard work. The corpses lay scattered across the battlefield, their bodies still and lifeless, their wounds still fresh.

The undeads stood over them, their green eyes glowing, their weapons still raised. The ground was churned and torn, covered in debris and blood. The air was thick with the smell of death and victory.

He walked toward the nearest Yuimon, his boots crunching against the forest floor. The creature’s massive body lay on its side, its circular mouth open, its teeth glistening in the dim light. It had been powerful, aggressive, relentless.

Now it was just a corpse. He could feel the heat radiating from its body, the last traces of life fading away.

He crouched down beside the creature, placing his hand on its chest. The skin was still warm, the muscles still tense. He could feel the lingering presence of life, just barely, waiting to be seized. But it was dead.

He focused his energy, felt the familiar pull in his chest, and spoke the word.

"Arise."

Green light spread from his palm, washing over the Yuimon’s body. It seeped into the wounds, filled the hollow spaces, and wrapped around the bones.

The creature’s body twitched, its limbs spasming, its massive frame shuddering. Then its eyes opened, glowing green, cold and dead. It rose slowly, its movements stiff, its massive frame unfolding from the ground. It was his now. It would serve him. It would fight for him.

He moved to the next one.

"Arise."

And the next.

"Arise."

And the next.

"Arise."

One by one, the Yuimons rose from the dead, their green eyes burning in the dim light, their bodies still and waiting. They were his. All of them. The ones he had killed, the ones he had revived, the ones that would now fight alongside him.

Darion smiled. The Yuimon hunt Battle was officially over. He had lost some, but he had gained more. His army was stronger now. And he was ready for whatever came next.

Now his status screen appeared in front of him:

[Congratulations host on a well deserved victory]

[Congratulations on killing 11 Yuimons]

[Congratulations on making 11 undead Yuimons]

[Congratulations on your tactical shift to win the battle]

His stats appeared now:

[STATUS]

Darion stared at his stats, higher increases compared to what he had been getting before. Intelligence had jumped by six points, reaching 108.

Strength and endurance had both climbed by four, putting him in the low eighties. Even perception had seen a solid increase, now sitting at 72.

The battle had pushed him further than any fight of recent, rewarding him for the victory, for the tactics, for surviving against overwhelming odds.

This was one the most thrilling battles he had engaged in since arriving in this world. One that required a lot of fighting, different places and different angles.

Also, a lot of tactical thinking from him.

And though he had lost some undead knights and some undead animals, it was worth it at the end of the day.

Killing and gaining 11 undead Yuimons was definitely something that didn’t happen often with him before.

The net gain was massive. He had entered the forest with a modest inventory and was leaving with an army of creatures that could crush most threats without breaking a sweat.

With these Yuimons in his inventory, the creatures he would be facing now seemed very certain.

Any threat, any enemy, any challenge, it all felt manageable now.

Darion wasn’t sure he had ever gotten this much confidence in his life before. The weight of the Yuimons’ power was reassuring, a solid foundation that made him feel prepared for whatever came next.

He summoned all the undeads in his inventory except a Rop, his original undead wolf, and two Yuimons.

Fuck the sound they would make, he needed real protection on where he was about to tread now.

The forest was still dangerous, and he wasn’t going to take any chances. They would definitely meet creatures as strong and fierce as the Yuimons or even better.

He commanded them through the binding to be real quiet though, to move silently, to stay hidden until they were needed.

Seren watched all the undeads go into wherever they went except what Darion left.

The green light flickered as the army dissolved, disappearing into the inventory, leaving only the wolf, the Rop, and the two massive Yuimons standing guard. She turned to him, her bow finally lowered, her face unreadable.

Then she hugged him.

Darion froze. The contact was sudden and unexpected.
