Chapter 63: The Birth Cave Breach

October 10th. Doomsday.

It was the exact day on the calendar that effectively decided the Uchiha clan’s extermination. If the Nine-Tails rampaged tonight, the village elders would blame the Uchiha, isolate them, and push them down the path that ended in Itachi slaughtering everyone.

Ren stood in the master bedroom of his estate, staring at the calendar.

"Not on my watch," Ren muttered.

He didn’t put on his usual tailored charcoal suit or his expensive midnight-blue overcoat. Tonight wasn’t about looking good for the nobles. He pulled a dark, heavy tactical cloak over his shoulders, pulling the hood up to cast his face in shadow. He reached onto his desk and grabbed a blank, featureless white porcelain mask, securing it tightly over his face.

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a premium presence-sealing talisman he had acquired months ago. He slapped it onto his chest. Instantly, the faint, natural hum of his chakra completely vanished. To the world, he was now a ghost.

"I already paid the informant network a fortune to track down the Hokage’s classified safehouse," Ren sighed, double-checking his coat. He had the suppression tags. He had the Senzu fragments. He had his Mangekyō. "Nothing can go bad today."

He slipped out the window, disappearing completely into the darkness of the night.

The classified birth cave, located miles outside the borders of Konoha, smelled of damp earth, sweat, and copper.

The echoing, agonizing screams of Kushina Uzumaki bounced off the cold stone walls. In the center of the cavern, the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, knelt beside the stone altar. He was drenched in sweat, his hands locked in complex sealing formulas, desperately channeling his chakra to suppress the furious, bubbling red aura of the Nine-Tailed Fox trying to rip its way out of his wife’s weakened seal.

"Push, Kushina! You’re almost there!" Biwako Sarutobi, the wife of the Third Hokage, ordered firmly.

Despite her senior status in the village, time had been exceptionally generous to the Sarutobi matriarch. The practical, loose-fitting midwife robes couldn’t completely hide her striking, remarkably preserved figure; she still possessed the wide, incredibly fertile hips and the heavy, plush curves of a woman in her absolute prime. She exuded an elegant, deeply feminine authority, and as the lead midwife, her hands were perfectly steady, entirely unfazed by the terrifying demonic chakra leaking into the room.

With one final, ear-piercing scream, the tension in the cave suddenly broke, replaced by the sharp, healthy wail of a newborn baby.

Minato let out a ragged gasp of relief, his shoulders slumping.

Biwako quickly wrapped the squalling infant in a soft blanket, her stern face melting into a rare, gentle smile. "A healthy baby boy. Well done, Kushina."

Kushina panted heavily, her red hair plastered to her forehead. She weakly reached a hand out toward the bundle. "Naruto..."

Minato smiled, tears pricking the corners of his blue eyes as he looked at his son. "I’m a father."

Hidden deep in the shadows near the cavern ceiling, Ren crouched silently. His talisman kept him entirely undetected by the ANBU guards stationed outside, and even shielded him from Minato’s legendary sensing abilities.

But Ren’s focus wasn’t on the happy family. His eyes were locked on the space directly behind Biwako.

The air began to twist.

It started as a faint, spiraling distortion, like looking through warped glass. Out of the spatial vortex stepped a figure draped in a heavy black cloak, wearing a spiraling orange mask. Obito Uchiha moved with absolute, remorseless silence.

He raised a standard-issue kunai, aiming the cold steel directly at the back of the Third Hokage’s wife. His objective was simple: execute Biwako, seize the newborn hostage, and force Minato away from the seal so he could extract the Nine-Tails.

Left Eye: Red Ledger.

Beneath Ren’s porcelain mask, his newly awakened Mangekyō flared to life. The interlocking, three-pointed gear in his left iris spun violently.

To Ren, the world instantly slowed to a crawl. The Red Ledger flooded his optic nerve with visual threat-audit data. He didn’t just see the masked man; he saw the exact, highlighted trajectory of the blade. More importantly, he saw the spatial vulnerability. A faint, glowing red window appeared over Obito’s arm—the precise, unavoidable millisecond the physical mass had to transition from intangible to tangible in order to strike.

There, Ren calculated.

He didn’t weave a hand seal. He didn’t mold chakra. Instead, the terrifying, hyper-dense musculature he had spent a fortune to build coiled like a steel spring. Channeling every ounce of raw kinetic energy into his legs, Ren pushed off the wall.

Just as Obito’s kunai descended to execute the elderly matriarch, a dark blur slammed into the space between them.

CLANG!

Ren’s heavy boot connected perfectly with the flat of Obito’s blade. He didn’t hit empty air. Guided by the Red Ledger, Ren had struck exactly inside the millisecond Obito’s hand solidified.

The sheer, overwhelming physical force of the kick shattered the steel kunai into a dozen jagged pieces. The kinetic shockwave of the impact was so violent it threw Obito backward.

Before Obito could even process that his perfect, invincible space-time jutsu had just been physically parried, Ren grabbed Biwako by the collar of her robes. He yanked her backward, sliding across the stone floor to put a safe distance between her and the attacker.

The sudden explosion of movement snapped Minato to attention. The Fourth Hokage spun around, his hand instinctively reaching for a three-pronged kunai, his blue eyes wide with shock.

Biwako, clutching baby Naruto to her chest, was breathing heavily. The sheer physical force with which she had been pulled back caused her robes to slip slightly, but she didn’t care. She looked up at the person who had just violently pulled her out of the jaws of death.

She expected to see an ANBU captain.

Instead, she saw a figure in a dark cloak wearing a blank porcelain mask. But as he held her back, shielding her, she was pressed incredibly close to him. From this intimate proximity, looking up from just inches away, the porcelain shell couldn’t hide everything. Biwako could see perfectly under the edge of the mask and straight through the wide eyeholes.

She recognized the sharp, aristocratic line of his jaw. She recognized the perfectly groomed dark hair.

Biwako’s mind completely blanked. Ren Uchiha?

The obscenely wealthy tycoon who spent his days counting coins? The boy the Uchiha elders had completely written off as a useless, chakra-less coward?

But what completely froze the blood in Biwako’s veins were his eyes. A thick, dark trail of fresh blood was weeping rapidly from his left tear duct, sliding down his pale cheek beneath the porcelain. In his blood-red irises, the terrifying, geometric gears of the Mangekyō Sharingan spun furiously.

He’s been lying to the entire village, Biwako realized in pure terror. The businessman persona is a mask.

Ren shifted, breaking her line of sight. He wiped the blood from under the edge of his mask with his thumb, his face twisting into a scowl beneath the porcelain as a sharp migraine spiked behind his left eye. The overhead cost on that prediction is brutal, Ren grumbled internally. I can’t spam this.

Obito stumbled back a half-step, staring at his empty hand. The shattered hilt of his weapon fell to the stone floor. Nobody had ever countered Kamui like that. Nobody was supposed to be able to touch him.

But Obito had been trained by Madara Uchiha. He didn’t freeze. He adapted.

Realizing he had lost the element of surprise against a terrifyingly fast opponent, Obito blurred into motion. He didn’t attack Ren. He lunged directly at Biwako, plunging his hand right through Ren’s defensive guard using Kamui, and snatched the bundled newborn right out of the stunned woman’s arms.

Obito leaped backward, landing near the cavern entrance, holding the crying baby.

"Step away from the Jinchūriki, Fourth Hokage!" Obito demanded, his voice disguised by a deep, hollow distortion.

Minato froze, his eyes locked on his son. "Calm down! Don’t hurt him!"

Obito didn’t hesitate. With a flick of his wrist, he slapped a line of sizzling explosive tags directly onto Naruto’s blanket and tossed the baby high into the air.

"Naruto!" Minato yelled.

In a flash of yellow light, Minato teleported, catching the baby mid-air. Recognizing the burning tags, the Hokage instantly flashed away from the cave, teleporting his son to a safehouse to remove the explosives before they detonated.

The distraction worked flawlessly. With Minato gone, Kushina was completely defenseless.

Obito phased instantly to the stone altar, grabbing the exhausted, terrified Kushina by the collar. He prepared to warp her into his Kamui dimension to extract the fox.

But before he pulled her in, Obito paused. He looked back over his shoulder at the masked teenager standing in the cavern, his single visible eye locking onto Ren’s bleeding Mangekyō.

"A Mangekyō? In Konoha?" Obito whispered, genuine shock bleeding through his distorted voice. "Who are you? You are not supposed to exist."

Ren stood up straight, casually dusting a speck of dirt off the lapel of his cloak. He looked the masked terrorist up and down with an expression of profound, unimpressed corporate disdain.

"Corporate security," Ren stated smoothly through his mask. "And you are currently trespassing on an unauthorized timeline."
