Chapter 12: The Shinobi Tycoon System

Ren stared at the floating blue text, his jaw slightly unhinged.

The holographic screen hovered perfectly in his field of vision, casting a faint, ethereal glow over the dust motes dancing in the abandoned teahouse. He waved a hand through it. His fingers passed right through the light without any resistance, but the screen remained completely stable.

A system? he thought, his heart doing a frantic tap-dance against his ribs. I actually got a cheat code.

He had spent twelve years raw-dogging the Naruto universe with nothing but his wits, his shamelessness, and an encyclopedic knowledge of how badly the timeline was going to crash. Now, right when he had officially severed his ties with the ninja path, the universe had handed him a lifeline.

The text on the screen scrolled rapidly, the system recognizing him as a legitimate business owner and opening the Tier 0 interface.

[SHINOBI TYCOON SYSTEM ONLINE.]

[Host: Ren Uchiha]

[Current Business: Unnamed Teahouse]

[Business Capital (BC): 0]

[SYSTEM RULES:]

[1. The primary currency is Business Capital (BC).]

[2. Golden Rule: BC is generated ONLY through clean profit from legitimate businesses owned by the Host.]

[3. Exclusions: Clan money, family loans, stolen funds, political subsidies, and gifts DO NOT convert into BC.]

Ren read the exclusions twice, a deep scowl forming on his face.

Of course, he grumbled internally. I can’t just raid Fugaku’s wallet or embezzle from the Police Force treasury. The system demands actual, grind-it-out capitalism.

He tapped the air where a small blinking icon labeled [TIER 0 SHOP] hovered.

The screen expanded, revealing a list of cheap, modern recipe templates and basic business tools.

[AVAILABLE (TIER 0):]

[Boba Tea Recipe - Cost: Free (Starter Gift)][Iced Milk Tea - Cost: 10 BC][Sweet Buns Template - Cost: 15 BC][Basic Customer Flow Analytics - Cost: 20 BC]

Ren’s eyes immediately locked onto the first option.

Boba tea. It didn’t exist in the Elemental Nations. The shinobi world was fueled by hot green tea, bitter matcha, and incredibly dense, traditional sweets like dango. The concept of a cold, highly caffeinated, aggressively sugary drink with chewy tapioca pearls was completely alien.

In a village filled with stressed, exhausted, sugar-deprived soldiers, it was practically a biological weapon.

Ren tapped the Boba Tea Recipe.

A rush of information flooded his brain. It wasn’t just a list of ingredients; it was absolute, perfected knowledge. He instantly knew the exact boiling temperatures, the precise ratio of brown sugar to tapioca starch, and the perfect steeping time for black tea leaves to maximize caffeine extraction without burning the flavor.

I am going to weaponize sugar, Ren whispered to himself, a manic grin spreading across his face.

But knowing the recipe was only step one. He needed ingredients, and he needed them immediately.

Ren sprinted out of the teahouse and ran all the way back to his bedroom in the main compound. He dug under his futon and pulled out a small wooden lockbox. While other Uchiha kids spent their allowances on premium kunai, weapon polish, and shuriken holsters, Ren had hoarded every single coin his parents had ever given him.

He dumped the coins onto his bed, counting rapidly. It wasn’t a fortune, but it was enough seed money.

Thirty minutes later, Ren entered the village markets.

The atmosphere was tense. Because the Third Shinobi War had been raging for two years, wartime supply chains were highly unstable. Merchant stalls that used to overflow with foreign goods were now sparsely stocked. Prices fluctuated wildly by the day, and merchants regularly exploited the high demand from military logistics.

Ren walked up to a weathered supply stall run by a grumpy, scarred merchant.

"I need tapioca starch, black tea leaves, raw brown sugar, and a daily supply of milk," Ren ordered, slapping a portion of his coins onto the wooden counter. "And I need cheap wooden cups. A lot of them."

The merchant looked at the twelve-year-old boy, noting the Uchiha crest on his back, and sneered. "War rations, kid. Sugar is at a premium. The medics are buying it up for energy pills. I’ll give you half a bag for those coins."

Ren didn’t flinch. He leaned against the counter, his eyes narrowing.

You think you can fleece me just because I’m a kid? Ren thought, his modern business instincts flaring up.

"You have three crates of raw brown sugar sitting under that tarp," Ren said smoothly, pointing a thumb at the back of the stall. "I can smell it. It’s clumping because of the humidity. In two days, it’ll be a solid brick and you won’t be able to sell it to the medics anyway. I’m offering to take the damaged stock off your hands right now."

The merchant blinked, completely taken aback by the sheer audacity and accuracy of the assessment.

Ren tapped the coins on the counter. "I am going to be buying in bulk every single week from now on. You can either give me the full bag at a fair market rate and secure a long-term contract with an Uchiha, or I can walk down the street to old man Sato’s stall. Your call."

The merchant grumbled, clearly annoyed that a twelve-year-old was out-haggling him, but he reached under the counter and pulled out the bags.

Ren walked away with a heavy sack of supplies over his shoulder, his pockets significantly lighter, but his inventory secure.

By evening, the old teahouse had transformed into a makeshift laboratory.

Ren stood in the cramped kitchen, a fire roaring in the hearth. He had scrubbed the pots until his knuckles were raw.

He followed the system’s exact temperatures perfectly. He boiled the water, kneading the tapioca starch and brown sugar into a smooth, dark dough. He rolled them into tiny, uniform pearls, dropping them into the boiling water until they floated to the top, glistening and perfectly chewy.

Next, he brewed the black tea, steeping it to the exact second the system demanded, before shocking it with cold water and mixing in the milk and liquid sugar.

He poured the mixture into one of the cheap wooden cups, dropping a handful of pearls at the bottom. He didn’t have plastic straws, so he had carved a wide bamboo shoot to act as a substitute.

Ren took a sip.

His eyes widened.

The ice-cold shock of the milk tea hit his tongue, followed immediately by an aggressive, beautiful rush of pure sugar and caffeine. The tapioca pearl was soft, chewy, and coated in rich brown sugar syrup.

It was perfect. It was better than perfect. It was the exact taste of modern capitalism.

Oh yeah, Ren thought, taking another massive gulp. They are going to become completely addicted to this.

He wiped down the front counter, arranged his freshly carved bamboo straws, and walked over to the front door. He picked up a wooden plank, quickly painting a single word on it, and hung it on the rusty nail outside.

He flipped the sign to read: OPEN.

The Uchiha Tycoon was officially in business.
