"Rai, don’t worry. We’ll be careful. Everyone starts somewhere. We’ll work hard to become top ANBU members!" Harumiko said reassuringly to Rai and his sister.
"Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s go home and eat," Hiroshi said.
Harumiko, Rai, and his sister nodded.
"Hiroshi, Harumiko, good luck in the ANBU!" Rai said with a smile.
Hiroshi nodded, watching Rai and his sister leave.
"Hiroshi, you must be upset," Harumiko whispered, watching Rai and his sister walk away.
Hiroshi nodded softly. "Of course. We’re a team, we fought together. It hurts that we can’t all join the ANBU."
"Before school ended, I was so conflicted. Should I let Rai and his sister join? If they did, their lack of strength would make things incredibly difficult. If they didn’t, they’d be heartbroken. It was a tough decision," Hiroshi said, looking down at the ground.
Harumiko turned to him, realizing Hiroshi was far more mature than she’d initially thought.
"Hiroshi, you’re much more mature than us. You act like an adult. It’s strange!"
"But when you said the prize was the ANBU, I worried about Rai and his sister. This kind of opportunity doesn’t come often. It’s disappointing to miss out due to insufficient strength," Harumiko said, smiling at Hiroshi.
Hiroshi smiled at Harumiko’s comment about his maturity. He thought, Mature? Of course! I’m decades older than you. If I couldn’t handle this, I’d be a child!
