Chapter 410 (1): Covered in Stories
Lunar phases, glacier.
Moonlight cascaded down upon the tundra like water, giving it a crystal clear look. From afar, the land blended with the sky; from a shorter distance, the blue transitioned into white in a gradient. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
This was Givenchy’s vitality field.
A vitality field was a legendary mage’s signature and the manifestation of their lifelong knowledge. After drawing the projection of the Astral Plane, a legendary mage filled it with the knowledge they had mastered and became a god in the illusory world, gaining the ability to do whatever they wanted.
It was a mage’s personal dungeon, in a way.
The two Holy Maidens were hung in the air by chains of ice. One end of the chains was connected to the void, while the other end was wrapped around their wrists to lift them off the ground. Two meters from them, Wayne sat on a high-back chair of ice with his chin resting on one hand, looking at them without blinking.
With the excuse of fully disarming them, Givenchy had stripped off all the magical items from the Holy Maidens. Givenchy was a bad woman through and through, and she was loyal to her faith. Knowing what Wayne would like to see, she quickly undressed the Holy Maidens.
She would’ve stripped them naked if Wayne hadn’t stopped her.
“Enough already. Don’t go too far...”
The two Holy Maidens were able to keep their white shirts and underpants. To Wayne’s surprise, Corte also had a binder on, concealing her heavy assets. He stopped Givenchy from taking that off, too.
It would be unwise to burn the bridges. They had misunderstood him, but they still had to befriend each other. He shouldn’t cross the line.
He wasn’t one to exploit such an opportunity, so he tossed the marker to Givenchy and let her do her thing.
Givenchy had never known about another use for markers aside from writing. With Wayne’s hint, she learned quickly and unleashed her creativity, using the four long legs as canvases.
Soon, the two Holy Maidens were covered in stories—stories about millions of seeds making a suicidal charge into and out of a hostile environment seeking to kill them.
With the suggestive masterpiece done, Givenchy put the marker away and returned to Wayne’s side, tentatively seeking permission to get into a suggestive sitting arrangement. She was rejected, relegated to bodyguard duty behind Wayne.
Who do you think you are? You think my lap is meant for you?
Givenchy was beautiful, but Wayne felt nothing for her. Perhaps it was because he had driven in luxury cars so much that other cars seemed shabby in comparison, or perhaps he felt guilty and didn’t want to disappoint his harem. He was no longer the honest scumbag who couldn’t say no.
He had grown up. The honor he wore on his sleeve seemed more polished now.
Wayne gave himself a thumbs-up. Not everyone could control themselves when they had three beautiful ladies imprisoned.
He extended his thoughts to give Galen and Corte a hard tap, waking them up. Corte whined, her head buzzing. The world seemed to spin around her, and everything looked like doubles in her eyes.
She shook her head to focus her gaze until the wobbly images overlapped into one. She got a clear look at the demon seated on the throne of ice with a suggestive smile, joined by Givenchy, his pawn.
Though now a captive, Corte remained defiant. Her divine art didn’t work right earlier, granting her much less divine power than usual. Moreover, her unhelpful teammate had been a deadweight, causing her to suffer a landslide defeat.
“Let me down. I’ll win next time!”
“True,” Wayne agreed, hand propping his head up. “I’ve fought you many times while you were unconscious for more than ten days. You won every time.”
More than ten days? Many times? How do I not know?
Surprised, Corte looked to the side at Galen, about to ask what she thought. Her jaw fell immediately. Galen was covered in texts and symbols that marked her loss of purity. She could no longer be a Holy Maiden.
Worse still, a Holy Maiden losing her purity while holding the title and thus humiliating the goddess was a serious desecration. Even if Galen was lucky enough to escape, she would still have to pay with her life.
Corte’s eyes reddened from heartache. Looking at Galen’s tainted body, she cried out, “Galen, you’ve sacrificed yourself for me. I... I’m sorry. I thought you were a bad woman.”
(는_는)
Would you look at yourself first? Galen thought. Stop showing off your lack of intelligence. The demon’s dying from laughter!
When Galen woke up and found Corte’s compromising appearance, she had thought the same. She thought that the idiot had sacrificed herself and become the demon’s plaything to protect her. Only when Corte cried out for her did she realize that she was similarly marked.
She decided not to read into it.
A gust of wind made the two Holy Maidens tremble. Corte looked down at her long legs. Her expression distorted as she snarled at the demon.
She had a rich vocabulary for insults that matched her fierce personality. She was the most gung-ho Holy Maiden Wayne had ever met.
Among the five Holy Maidens, he had met four. Anastasia was a paragon of virtues and his white moonlight. Corte was honest and straightforward, always speaking her mind. Galen was on the disingenuous side. Though Wayne hadn’t spent much time with her, he could tell that the woman was shrewd.
Desiree was still immature. Aware of her shortcomings, the newbie was doing her best to level up. As for the Holy Maiden of the Church of Death, Wayne still hadn’t heard from her. He would refrain from judging those two for now.
After cursing Wayne out, Corte stopped wasting her breath and realized that there was nothing wrong with her body. She only felt the exhaustion that followed a fight, nothing that would suggest that anything bad had happened to her...
As if!
To a Holy Maiden, being stripped to her undergarments was no different from losing her purity. She had to kill the offender and inquire the goddess to make sure that She didn’t mind. Only then would the matter be resolved.
Corte bit her bottom lip, immediately resolving to free herself and kill Wayne. However, she couldn’t even form a strategy since she knew she couldn’t defeat him.
When Corte lowered her head in silence, and Galen closed her eyes without saying anything, Wayne nodded approvingly and said, “To tell you the truth, I’m Lord of Lust’s familiar, known as Bruce the Lust Demon. I’m the notorious Lord of Lust Junior in Hell. No stunning beauty ever walks away from me without eating more than they could swallow.”
“I didn’t do anything to you, not because I wanted to become a good demon, but because it would be boring to do anything to someone unconscious. Now that you’re awake, let’s get started.”
Wayne stood up and grabbed his belt.
“What are you doing?” Corte barked. “I’m warning you. It’s not too late to stop now, or the goddess won’t forgive you.”
“What am I doing? You two, of course.” Wayne scoffed. Taking his hands off his belt, he pointed at Galen. “You should learn from her and stay quiet in the face of danger. You, on the other hand, spit out warnings and act all defiant. You’re making yourself the target.”
Corte’s expression twisted. She glared at Galen for selling her out. She knew it. Galen was a bad woman.
“Calm down,” Galen said coldly. “This is how demons manipulate people. He’s pitting us against each other, so don’t fall for it.”
“What a rational woman.” Wayne walked up to Galen with a grin. “I’m starting to like you. Why don’t I start with you?”
Galen stilled. She wasn’t sure whether the demon was telling the truth, but to prevent what was written on her body from becoming reality, she said, “Sorry to disappoint you. I won’t struggle or resist, so you won’t feel the pleasure of conquest from me.”
“You’re right. I should pick her instead.”
Wayne turned toward Corte once more.
“Bastard! Bastard!” Corte cursed Galen out for throwing her under the demon, then she hurriedly protested, “You’re a demon. Why would you just believe her? I promise that while she looks calm, she’s more scared than anyone. Try it. She’ll definitely resist until the end.”
How fun!
Wayne almost failed to smother his grin. He turned it into a sneer. “Perhaps, but she’s dishonest, clearly lacking in passion. You’re different. Both your body and temper are scorching hot, and we both have a high affinity with fire elements. We’ll fit perfectly.”
He reached Corte, placing a hand on his belt to tell her a short bedtime story.
It would be a dull, simple story with repetitive actions and lines, so boring that it would put someone to sleep quickly.
Corte’s face darkened with fright. She wasn’t sure if she had imagined it, but she seemed to hear Galen sigh in relief that she had luckily escaped the same fate.
While cursing her out, Corte tried to find a way to save herself.
Her body acted faster than her brain. Before she could come up with a solution, her body realized that Wayne was standing close enough for a scissor choke. Flexing her arms and torso, she swung her long legs up to grapple his neck and break it.
As the two taut legs flew toward him, Wayne hesitated for a moment before stepping sideways to dodge the attack. He patted his chest, still reeling from the threat.
“That was close. I almost got a mouthful.”
Corte glared at the demon after the failed attack. She expressed her fury through her murderous eyes.
“Kekeke, you’re so weak that you look adorable when you’re angry!”
Wayne caught her whipping leg and gripped her ankle, raising it above her head.
The vulnerable position was driving Corte mad.
“Friendly reminder,” Wayne said helpfully. “I’m a serious germaphobe. If you shit yourself now, I definitely won’t do anything to you.”
Corte’s eyes widened. She seriously considered the viability of that plan.
“Corte, don’t believe the demon,” Galen hurriedly said. “He’s humiliating you. If you believe it, you’ll be falling into his trap.”
“Tsk, look at your companion.” Wayne raised his voice. “She knows that she can’t do it, so she’s worried that I’ll target her instead once you shit yourself. What a generous friend she is. Even I would call her demonic.”
He had always been a good instigator.
“Corte, he’s manipulating you. Close your ears!”
“Shut up. You aren’t any better.”
The two Holy Maidens started arguing. Wayne lifted Corte’s leg one moment and grabbed Galen’s ankle the next moment, leaving both women exhausted physically and mentally.
Once they were tired of the argument and Wayne had had his fun, he sat back down in his high-back chair and snapped his fingers, having Givenchy lower the Holy Maidens.
The chains of ice shattered, dropping Galen and Corte to the ground. Galen pulled her shirt down to cover her thighs, while Corte glared at Wayne and demanded, “What do you want? To turn us into your puppets?”
“Would that be possible?”
“Only in your dream!”
“That’s decided then. Doing what I know is impossible would be the villainous thing to do, but not the demonic thing to do.” Wayne rested his chin on his palm, smiling. “I’ve gotten what I want. The way you generously let the other have it is heartwarming. I’m quite pleased.”
He found it heartwarming, while the only thing remotely warmed for the Holy Maidens was their tempers. They were seething.
Wayne conjured two long black robes with a snap of his fingers, presenting the neatly folded clothing to them. “Put these on. You bare your thighs to me when we’ve only just met, and you call yourselves Holy Maidens? I can’t bear to look at you any longer after half an hour.”
Corte furiously pointed her fingers at him like a blade. “We’re Holy Maidens, and we do not take alms from a demon, much less a disingenuous offer like this. If you want to kill me, do it. I will not yield.”
“Well put,” Wayne said with a smile, tilting his head. “But you seem to be the only one who thinks so.”
“???”
Confused, Corte turned around and saw Galen put the black robe on. Only then did she find out about the betrayal.
