Chapter 1217: Golden Rain Breaks Cores

Ethan’s gaze swept the battlefield, his mind already turning over countermeasures. There were too many of those energy entities up front—trying to punch through with raw formation pressure was suicide. The core energy in their bodies could soak ordinary attacks, and the gemstones in their foreheads were clearly the source. If they couldn’t lock those down first, the fight would never end.

Before Ethan could finish weighing options, Andona rose into the air.

Behind her, twenty pairs of golden wings spread at once. As they beat, golden light spilled from the edges of every feather. It didn’t fall to the ground right away—instead it gathered overhead into a dense layer of sacred ripples, then rolled across the canyon like a heavy, holy tide.

Power swept down between heaven and earth.

Boom—!

Boom—!

Boom—!

A chain of thunderous impacts pressed from the sky, like the whole gorge was being struck by a divine hammer. Every time Andona’s wings snapped, a ring of Divine Power expanded outward, ripping through the air and slamming into the region packed with energy entities.

The Angel King’s Divine Power was the natural bane of this kind of corrosive energy.

When that golden radiance descended, the front-row entities had barely lifted their arms before their strange energy was torn open head-on. Holy light drilled in around the gemstones embedded in their foreheads, spreading inward along their unstable outlines. Their movements stuttered—then their bodies cracked with huge fractures.

In the next instant, they were swallowed whole.

Energy entities shattered one after another under the golden rain. Forehead gemstones couldn’t withstand the impact—popping in rapid succession. The moment core energy tried to burst free, the following wave of sacred power wiped it clean. In the span of a blink, more than half of them were erased.

Ethan’s chest surged with fierce relief.

He’d already seen that the Angel King’s power countered these things—but before, the suppression had been incomplete, more like canceling out a big portion of corrosion rather than truly clearing the field in one sweep. What Andona was releasing now was dozens of times stronger.

It gave Ethan an opening.

He steadied his breath and detonated his own energy. The forces between heaven and earth answered his pull, streaming toward him and gathering between his hands. Transparent lightning leapt from his palms, then dragged in the canyon’s remaining corrosive power, compressing it into a massive lightning sphere.

The moment the sphere took shape, the air above the canyon began to tremble.

Transparent lightning crisscrossed wildly inside. Corrosive force flowed along the outer layer. The two powers were forced together, grinding and colliding with dull, heavy booms. The sphere grew brighter—heavier—until the surrounding energy was being dragged toward it hard enough to warp the air into a visible twist.

Ethan’s breathing turned sharp.

He could feel how terrifying the ball in his hands had become—already beyond what he could comfortably control. Every internal lightning burst sent a backlash into his arms, pain stabbing through his finger bones.

He didn’t let go.

Ethan clenched his teeth and poured in the last of his strength. Transparent lightning fed down his arms, compressing the sphere tighter. The surrounding energy was crushed further and further until the ball swelled to its limit.

Then he shoved both arms forward and threw it down with everything he had.

The sphere fell from the sky, aimed straight at the densest cluster of entities.

Along its descent, electric light shredded the air. Broken stone from the battlefield was yanked upward, then blasted into dust a heartbeat later. The entities looked up, the gemstones in their foreheads flaring as they tried to draw core energy to block—

Too late.

The instant the lightning sphere hit among them, its power detonated. Transparent lightning burst from the center first, racing outward along the ground and spearing through body after body. Then the corrosive layer wrapped around the sphere exploded outward as well, joining the lightning in tearing at the gemstones.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

A chain of explosions rang through the canyon. Huge numbers of entities were destroyed on the spot—bodies pierced by electric light, gemstones shattered, core energy spraying out only to be swallowed by the aftershock.

Ethan hovered in the air, gulping breath in huge, ragged pulls.

After throwing that sphere, there was almost nothing left in him. His arms sagged, and he couldn’t even keep transparent lightning stable in his palms. He forced himself to stay upright and began greedily absorbing the surrounding energy to refill what had been drained dry.

By now, the ground fight was nearing its end.

Whether it was because Emerald Castle finally had a method, or because Andona and Ethan had cleared too many of the strongest entities, the enemy line began to collapse. The remnants were pushed step by step toward the canyon’s depths, until they were forced into a narrow corner.

The battle on the ground finally tilted in Emerald Castle’s favor.

But the battle in the sky was still white-hot.

Catheryn and Velyra hadn’t stopped for even a moment. Their powers kept colliding overhead—violet light, snow-white force, and sapphire-blue brilliance tearing space open again and again. Each eruption left another crack in the sky above the canyon, the fractured edges flashing with dangerous light.

"Velyra, you filthy bitch!" Catheryn’s teeth ground audibly, fury blazing so hard it looked like it might burn straight through Velyra. "You tricked me and kept me sealed for years. If I don’t tear you into pieces today, I’ll never swallow this hatred!"

She raised a hand. Energy erupted nonstop from her palm, forming a heavy impact that slammed toward Velyra. The snow-white gemstones spinning around Catheryn injected wave after wave of power, making the attack swell as it crossed the air, pressing straight toward Velyra’s chest.

Velyra didn’t give an inch.

Violet energy flared all over her body, condensing into one energy sphere after another. The purple orbs shot out in a stream, smashing into Catheryn’s attack—then forcing their way through gaps in the explosion’s aftermath to slam into Catheryn herself.

"And you’re any better?" Velyra’s voice was sharp with poison. "Back then, that Primordial Core energy—we found it together. And you swallowed it all!"

At that, Catheryn’s rage deepened.

Back then, the two of them had discovered a hidden realm and found a Primordial Core energy source inside. The energy was unbelievably dense—just getting near it made you feel the pure, vast power packed within.

They’d agreed to take it back and split it evenly.

But on the way out, something changed.

That Primordial Core energy acted like it had suddenly chosen an owner. It liquefied on its own and flowed straight into Catheryn’s body. Catheryn hadn’t taken it deliberately. She hadn’t secretly stolen it.

Velyra didn’t care.

To Velyra, there was only one outcome that mattered—Catheryn had taken what should’ve belonged to both of them.

So Velyra went for the kill.

She sealed Catheryn in a valley and stripped away everything she could. And truthfully, Mournvale Abyss had been Catheryn’s territory from the beginning—Velyra had simply stolen it.

Now Catheryn wanted to kill that sister-and-brother pair and take Mournvale Abyss back.

It wasn’t ambition.

It was what she was owed.
