Chapter 1207: Holy Light Opens

Ethan finally let out a breath.

Once he was sure Ataneya could keep the newly arrived enemy pinned down, he retreated without hesitation, drifting backward until he reached the high air at the edge of the battlefield. It was a little farther from the main fight. Spatial rifts still flickered there, but they weren’t nearly as violent as the ones over the center.

He forcibly calmed the surging power inside him, then pulled out a fistful of medicine from his storage space and stuffed it into his mouth.

The medicinal strength melted down his throat and spread through his body, barely suppressing the burning agony that kept chewing through his meridians.

His body was already wrecked.

He’d swallowed energy cores back-to-back, forcibly fused multiple powers together, and traded blows with the Abyssal Empress all the way to the end. Flesh and bone had been pushed past their limits. If he kept fighting, he really could die here.

The war between heaven and abyss had reached its final stretch.

Emerald Castle’s people started cleaning up—collecting energy cores, shattered gems, and scraps of weapons the enemy had left behind. The Sky Fortress slowly lowered its altitude. The Fallen Star Guard split up to patrol, while the Powered Combat Armor squads dragged their damaged plating into formation again.

But the enemy who’d just appeared had everyone’s nerves pulled tight.

Ataneya’s fox tail swayed behind her in an eerie arc. Every swing snapped fire-red runic power off the tip. The runes crisscrossed in midair, forming a net that kept surging forward until it wrapped the enemy inside.

Even the red sphere in his hand was melting under her flames.

It had been pulsing nonstop, pure Infernal Abyss energy churning within—but once Ataneya’s fire closed around it, the surface began to liquefy layer by layer. In no time, it shrank down to the size of a palm, its light much dimmer than before.

The man’s eyes went wide, terror spilling across his face.

He clearly hadn’t believed the red sphere he brought could be suppressed so easily.

At this point, he didn’t dare slack off for even a heartbeat. He gathered everything he had. Sylvan Magic surged out of him, carrying a twisted, living presence as it condensed into a massive energy sphere overhead.

But right as he prepared to smash it into Ataneya—

Ataneya was already in his face.

Fire-red radiance blasted from the tails behind her, slamming down and crushing toward his chest.

On the other side of the battlefield, Ethan’s pupils abruptly dilated.

He saw the space along the outer edge of Mournvale Abyss ripple all at once. Countless energy entities pushed out of rifts and black fog, appearing so suddenly it was like they’d been lying in ambush around the abyss perimeter, waiting for the moment the battle ended to swarm in together.

Ethan’s power immediately spread outward, forming a thick, heavy barrier around him.

Then he retreated fast.

The aura coming off those entities was a brutal Mournvale Abyss signature. It wasn’t simple darkness—it was abyssal corrosion. Even a thin wisp of it made the surrounding space start to rot. The edges of nearby cracks blackened, like they were being eaten away by poison.

When that power touched Ethan’s barrier, a shrill, grating sound rang out.

The corrosive force crawled inward along the shield, chewing through more than half of the thick defense in seconds. Ethan’s breathing turned sharp. With his body already on the verge of collapse, he couldn’t afford to collide head-on with an unknown abyss aura like this. All he could do was keep backing up.

The entities advanced step by step.

The pressure of corrosion kept rising, forcing Ethan farther and farther until he was nearly cornered.

He was still figuring out how to deal with it when holy light dropped from the sky like a blade.

Andona was suddenly in front of him.

She gripped the Angelic Sword with both hands. White brilliance erupted along the blade, and she slashed hard into the oncoming corruption. Holy radiance tore from the sword edge, forming a curved light arc that carved straight into the corrosive energy.

The abyssal aura—strong enough to erode everything—actually began to disperse under the purification of the Angel King’s power.

The black corrosive fog twisted when the holy light hit it, then fractured, then dissolved into colorless energy that drifted away. The advancing entities were forced to stop, their surfaces splitting open with large, burn-like white cracks.

Ethan’s eyes flicked.

He hadn’t expected Andona’s power to work like this.

He didn’t waste the opening. His body blurred into transparent lightning as he slipped away to the side.

That Mournvale Abyss corrosion was too damn strange. Even his domineering Infernal Abyss lightning couldn’t get close cleanly—once it made contact, it showed signs of being eaten away.

Luckily, the Angel King’s power on Andona could purify it.

Ethan steadied his breathing and gave an order immediately.

All units with angelic holy power—frontline, now.

In the camp, streaks of white light flared one after another. Warriors with holy attributes surged out from the ranks and formed a line at the very front, facing the corrosive entities head-on. Andona stood at the tip with the Angelic Sword, the sharpest blade of the entire defense.

As Ethan reorganized the formation, Queen Seraphine suddenly floated into the air.

A terrifying power burst from her all at once—an extreme sanctity even purer than ordinary angelic energy. Divine Power spread outward, unfolding into a radiant curtain that instantly engulfed every corrosive entity nearby.

The entities thrashed violently.

But the Mournvale Abyss corrosion on them collapsed in front of Divine Power, breaking down almost immediately. Before anyone could even process what they were seeing, the entities—so threatening just a moment ago—were purified into pure energy sources.

Those streams of light flowed into Queen Seraphine without end.

Everyone’s eyes widened.

No one had imagined Divine Power could be this overwhelming. Even Mournvale Abyss entities that could corrode space itself were being directly purified—and absorbed.

Ethan didn’t hesitate any longer.

"Push in."

He led Seraphine and Andona straight into Mournvale Abyss.

The others followed at once, weapons raised, their own energy surging out behind them. Holy power cut the path up front, and Emerald Castle’s army advanced through the corridor carved by purification, pressing deeper into the abyss.

Before long, they broke into the middle region of Mournvale Abyss.

The pressure here was several times heavier than the outskirts.

Black abyss fog poured in from every direction. There was no real ground beneath their feet—only layered streams of dark energy. The deeper they went, the heavier the air became, until even a normal breath felt like sucking in freezing mist laced with corrosion.

Then a figure rose into the air ahead of them.

The man radiated a vicious, poisonous malice. From his forehead hung a single strange strand of white hair, swaying lightly in the black fog and shining with a pale luster that didn’t match the surrounding abyss aura at all.

Ethan adjusted his breathing and took a slow step back.

The remaining power inside him erupted. Transparent lightning swept out, weaving into a massive thunder web in front of everyone. The net hung across the air, blocking the cold, sinister presence spreading from the man.

The man opposite them rolled his shoulders like he was loosening up.

His joints cracked—sharp and clear.

Then his gaze settled on Andona and Seraphine.

Those eyes had been icy and cruel, but the instant he saw the Divine Power on them, heat flooded in—sudden, hungry.

"Well, I’ll be damned," he said slowly, excitement he couldn’t hide seeping into every word.

"To think there’s still Divine Power this pure in a world like this."

He licked the corner of his mouth, eyes sliding back and forth over Andona and Seraphine like he was picking out merchandise.

"And you two... you’re pretty, too."

That stare made the air feel sticky.

"So how about it?" He took a step forward, the smile on his face warping further. "From today on, you stay by my side."

His excitement rose, like he genuinely thought he could just keep them.

"I’ll make you into something this world’s never seen before—one of a kind."

But one look at the leering, filthy expression on his face made it obvious his intentions weren’t pure in the slightest.

He wanted to take them for himself.
