Chapter 1199: The Angel King Rises
A pressure so heavy it felt like it could crush the sky at any moment descended over the battlefield.
Ethan hadn’t expected a being at this level to be hiding in this world.
At this point, he didn’t dare relax for even a second. He shot upward and hovered above the camp. Transparent lightning crawled along the outside of his body, and the newly formed sphere of energy in his chest began to rotate, slow and steady.
He stared the other man down.
"Who are you?"
Ethan’s voice rolled across the heavens.
"Do you not know this is Emerald Castle territory? Why have you trespassed here?"
The man across from him rolled his neck with a small stretch.
He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he swept a contemptuous gaze over the assembled army below.
Sky Fortress. Fallen Star Guard. Powered Combat Armor. The local elites Korvath had brought. Even Emerald Castle’s forces, only recently recovered.
His eyes paused on each of them, one by one.
Then his gaze locked onto a patch of empty air.
There was nothing there.
And yet his eyes narrowed, as if he were looking straight at some lingering trace.
"So my brother was here."
The man spoke slowly. There was no anger in his voice—only killing intent, so cold it made the space around him feel sharp.
"And you dogs killed him."
Ethan’s heart jolted.
He immediately thought of the enemy Ataneya had ripped apart earlier—the one who had left behind that transparent box and the red sphere.
So that guy had been this man’s brother.
The man lifted his eyes to Ethan.
"In that case... I can only kill you all and make you pay with your lives."
The moment the words fell, the purple-red lightning in the sky multiplied in a violent surge.
Ethan didn’t bother explaining.
In a situation like this, explanations were useless. The other side had already decided they were enemies. From here on out, there was only the fight.
He detonated the power inside him.
Transparent lightning, the lingering force from the fire-red crystal, Infernal Primordial Power, and the energy of his Primordial Core all roared out at once, pouring behind him and condensing between heaven and earth into a colossal dragon.
A phantom dragon coiled upward. Its claws pressed down on the clouds, and when its wings spread, the air above the camp was shoved outward to either side.
Ethan stood before the dragon’s shadow, palm angled down, ready to strike at any instant.
The man opposite him still looked bored.
He only lifted one hand and gave it a lazy flick in midair.
Purple-red lightning rushed into his palm. The violet gem in his forehead fired a deep, heavy beam. The two forces twisted together, weaving rapidly until they hardened into an energy spear.
The instant the spear took shape, the surrounding space fractured.
The world’s energy went feral with it.
The still-unstable aura of the mineral veins, the summoning energy spilling from the Creature Dwellings, even the defensive radiance hanging over the army’s formation—everything was dragged in by the spear’s pull, ripped into chaotic surges that rolled outward in messy currents.
The man snapped his wrist.
The spear tore through the air, screaming straight for Ethan’s chest.
Ethan’s pupils shrank.
He could tell at a glance that, measured against the power he was releasing right now, taking that hit head-on would not end well. The Infernal Primordial Power packed into that spear was too condensed, and the purple-red lightning carried a terrifying penetrative force. If it pierced him cleanly, even if he didn’t die, he would be crippled.
He was just about to gamble everything—
When a holy presence suddenly rose from the side.
Andona floated into place in front of him.
The instant she appeared, the energy between heaven and earth shifted. The air that had been churned up and pinned down by the purple-red lightning was suddenly washed clean by a layer of white radiance. The black cracks along the edges of shattered space stalled under the holy light, and even the soldiers in the camp—already bracing to charge—felt the pressure in their chests ease a notch.
"Master, leave this one to me."
Andona didn’t look back. She simply raised the Angelic Sword in her hand.
"Go wait over there."
Ethan glanced at her and didn’t argue.
He understood perfectly: this wasn’t the time to fight over an opponent. If Andona was stepping forward on her own, it meant she had confidence in what she was about to face.
Ethan drew his aura in, turned, and drifted toward the edge of the sky. Somewhere along the way, a fruit appeared in his hand.
He took a savage bite, never letting his eyes leave the battlefield.
Andona lifted the Angelic Sword and gave the air a casual sweep.
Boom!
Holy—yet violently oppressive—power blasted outward, forming a massive phantom of an Angel King between heaven and earth.
The figure wore a crown of light. Layer upon layer of sacred wings unfurled behind its back, and in its hand was an enlarged Angelic Sword that mirrored Andona’s.
Holy radiance flooded out like a tide.
The purple-red spear the man had thrown was stopped dead by the oncoming light. Where the two forces met, white-and-violet sparks erupted in a spray. Then sacred runes crawled rapidly along the spear’s surface, crushing the purple-red lightning inch by inch.
And it didn’t stop there.
The holy light kept pushing forward, wrapping around the man’s body. Runes forged from sacred power branded themselves into the space around him, crackling with sharp pops—as if they were trying to peel the Infernal Primordial Power off his skin by force.
The man’s eyes finally widened.
He clearly hadn’t expected Andona to be able to erupt with this kind of power.
Now he didn’t dare hold anything back. He brought both hands together in front of his chest. The violet gem in his forehead flared, and a brutal torrent of energy surged out of him, spearing straight into the sky.
From far away, Ethan stared, almost blank.
He hadn’t realized Andona had already reached this level.
Especially that phantom of the Angel King—the pressure it released had already surpassed most of the beings present. It wasn’t just "holy light." It carried the weight of rulership, the kind of force that could suppress, purify, and tear apart an enemy’s energy structure at the root.
While Ethan was still stunned, Andona lifted the Angelic Sword high overhead.
Behind her, the Angel King’s phantom raised its blade in perfect sync.
The next moment, both swords came down.
Sacred power surged out like a world-ending wave. It shattered the man’s freshly formed defenses first—then slammed into his body like a hammer.
The purple-red lightning coating him exploded into countless shards of light, and he dropped from the sky, driven straight down into the earth.
Rumble—!
The ground split on impact.
Cracks spiderwebbed outward from the point of collision. Then one fissure kept widening, like a wound split open by something enormous, until it stretched into a yawning abyss.
Ethan’s breathing caught.
So did everyone in the camp.
The soldiers all stared at the collapsed ground. The powerhouse who had been crushing them with sheer presence a moment ago had been smashed into the earth by Andona’s single strike.
But almost immediately, something heavier rose from the abyss.
The man who had been driven underground gathered his power again. His figure slowly rose from the abyssal fissure and returned to the sky. A thick, weighty barrier of energy coated his body. Purple runes flowed across it, repairing the slashes torn open by the holy light.
He stared at Andona. There was no lazy contempt left in his eyes.
"I never thought I’d see the power of the Angel King here..."
He lifted a hand and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.
"But in front of me, your strength is laughable."
His voice cooled further, sharpening with every word.
"To me, you’re nothing—barely even worth naming."
He spread his arms wide. The violet gem in his forehead erupted with blinding light.
"Today, I’ll show you what real power looks like."
As he spoke, the energy around him expanded in a full release.
Between heaven and earth, a towering figure began to take shape.
It was built from purple-red lightning and Infernal Primordial Power—vastly larger than the man’s own body—standing with its feet in the world and its head in the sky.
Dense clusters of violet runes floated across it, each one turning slowly. The energy structure carved inside them radiated a destructive pressure that made the air itself feel fragile.
As the runes brightened, the space around them started collapsing—inch by inch.
