Chapter 76: Chapter 75: The 11th Floor
"Hey, look! Wen Qingye is still going!"
"It looks like he’s on the tenth layer. I wonder if he can clear it."
"Even if he doesn’t, it’s no big deal. You have to remember, not a single freshman in the entire Qig Mountain Academy has ever passed the tenth layer."
Suddenly, the stone monument up ahead lit up. Everyone was stunned.
An abrupt silence fell over the area by the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion, then, like boiling water, it erupted into an even greater uproar.
"D-did he pass?"
"Unbelievable! Wen Qingye has left Xia Moyu in the dust, clearing the tenth layer of the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion!"
"To think our freshman class has someone so incredible! He actually passed the tenth layer! His strength is already on par with the senior students!"
Yann Xiangyang was also stunned, her eyes filled with disbelief. Wen Qingye had actually passed the tenth layer.
......
Wen Qingye gasped for breath, his limbs feeling weak and numb. The Cyan Mist Sword in his hand still gleamed with a sharp, cold light. The Primordial Qi around him had not yet dispersed, forming a blanket of white mist—all signs that a vicious battle had just taken place here.
Wen Qingye held his sword, calming his mind. A glint of fighting spirit reflected in his eyes.
"Today, I’ll test the might of the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion’s eleventh layer."
With that said, Wen Qingye took a step forward, and his figure slowly vanished from the tenth layer of the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion.
As soon as Wen Qingye entered the eleventh layer, a green, humanoid monster appeared before him. The monster radiated waves of Primordial Qi, and Wen Qingye felt an oppressive aura from it.
The green humanoid monster abruptly threw a punch. Its arm suddenly stretched out, striking viciously toward Wen Qingye’s chest.
Wen Qingye was shocked. ’I never thought this monster could stretch its arm like that!’ It was too late to dodge. He had no choice but to block with his sword in front of his chest.
BANG!
The monster’s speed was astounding. Caught off guard, Wen Qingye felt a violent jolt in his chest and a sweet taste in his mouth as he spat out a mouthful of blood.
Wen Qingye hadn’t expected to suffer such a major setback the moment he reached the eleventh layer. He grew even more cautious.
WHOOSH!
The green humanoid monster kicked out, its speed so incredible that Wen Qingye couldn’t track it at all. He subconsciously executed Butterfly Step, his body floating away like a leaf.
THUD!
Just as Wen Qingye moved, a huge crash echoed from the wall where he had just been standing.
Wen Qingye felt his blood boil. He lunged forward, his sword a blur of motion.
"Bright Moon in the Sky!"
Wen Qingye’s sword moved rapidly, creating flashes of cold light. Crescent-shaped streams of Sword Qi gathered, coalescing into a bright moon that shot toward the green humanoid monster.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Wen Qingye’s footwork was fast, and his strikes were faster. The green humanoid monster was hit by his Sword Qi, and its body began to crack apart.
Wen Qingye’s brow suddenly furrowed. He saw the monster’s wounds healing at a visible rate. In moments, the green humanoid monster was as good as new.
Wen Qingye hastily dodged a heavy punch from the monster. As the fist flew past, he felt only a cold draft; nothing else.
"Clear Wind Chasing Moon!"
Wen Qingye’s body suddenly transformed into a clear wind, becoming fluid and agile. He rushed forward at high speed, his sword like a sliver of moonlight in the pitch-black darkness as it slashed down.
The green humanoid monster moved, throwing a punch to meet Wen Qingye’s sword.
Wen Qingye sneered. ’You really think I can’t handle you?’
Suddenly, the light on Wen Qingye’s sword flared. Primordial Qi enveloped the entire Sword Body, emitting a dazzling radiance.
THUD!
Wen Qingye’s sword stabbed directly into the green humanoid monster’s arm. He immediately felt a powerful recoil and stumbled back several steps.
The monster’s arm was pierced through. The Primordial Qi coating the blade began to spread through the limb, attempting to stop it from healing.
Wen Qingye clenched his teeth. He knew he had to endure pain beyond what an ordinary person could bear. His sword whipped forward, moving like a Spiritual Snake.
"Spiritual Snake Frenzy Dance!"
SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
Flurries of Sword Qi slashed toward the green humanoid monster. Its arm was slowly healing, but Wen Qingye’s Sword Qi tore into the wound again, ripping it open even wider.
The green humanoid monster seemed to ignore the damage, viciously punching at Wen Qingye.
Wen Qingye focused his entire being, dashing forward and sideways to evade the heavy blow.
One had to admit, Wen Qingye was incredibly audacious. The monster’s fist brushed past his clothes; if he had been off by a hair’s breadth, he would have been mercilessly sent flying.
"Moon Falling into the Milky Way!"
Wen Qingye unleashed his most powerful move. Tiny specks of light, like stars in the night sky, appeared on his Sword Body. The surroundings instantly became pitch-black and dim, with only the starlight emanating from his sword. It was as if Wen Qingye was standing above the Milky Way. He swung his sword forward, and a torrent of Sword Qi flew out like the galaxy itself pouring down from the heavens.
SQUELCH!
The green humanoid monster was sliced in two by Wen Qingye’s sword. Its head and body were separated.
Wen Qingye swung his sword again, dicing the green humanoid monster into several pieces. Only after seeing no further changes did he stop.
Looking at the green masses on the ground, Wen Qingye finally let out a sigh of relief.
In this battle, Wen Qingye had given his all. The slightest deviation would have meant he couldn’t have defeated this green humanoid monster.
Wen Qingye sheathed his sword and slowly walked toward the exit.
.......
The stone monument of the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion flashed violently!
At this moment, the area outside the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion was dead silent. The crowd was speechless.
"Is Wen Qingye really a freshman?"
"A freshman passing the eleventh layer of the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion just three months after enrolling... that’s a rare sight in the entire history of Qig Mountain Academy!"
"Xia Moyu only made it to the 9th Layer, while Wen Qingye actually reached the eleventh layer. The two of them aren’t even in the same league!"
"With the strength Wen Qingye has shown, he can completely challenge the senior students. In fact, some of them might not even be his match."
The Qig Mountain Academy students around the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion all had looks of shock on their faces, discussing the unbelievable event.
Yann Xiangyang bit her lip. ’Impossible. I don’t believe it. Wen Qingye must have cheated. His cultivation is only at the Refining Essence Third Layer Heaven. How could he reach the eleventh layer, same as me? Just you wait until the Four Mountains Martial Arts Gathering. You’ll definitely be exposed then!’
"Make way, make way!"
Suddenly, an urgent voice cried out from the crowd.
The Qig Mountain Academy students couldn’t help but part to form a path. Lil Ya stared intently at the entrance of the Heaven-Reaching Martial Pavilion, his heart pounding with excitement. ’To think that the random recruit I picked up would turn out to be a genius—and no ordinary genius at that!’ How could he not be thrilled at the thought?
The crowd looked at the old man, wondering who he was.
Just then, Wen Qingye walked out. All eyes were fixed on him.
Seeing Wen Qingye emerge, Lil Ya strode forward delightedly. "Good! Truly worthy of being the pride of my North Mountain! Well done!"
"Mountain Master, what are you doing here?" Wen Qingye asked, puzzled.
It was only then that the crowd realized who he was. This was the North Mountain Master, Lil Ya, the one who was rumored to be as elusive as a divine dragon.
Lil Ya looked at Wen Qingye and said excitedly, "I’ve prepared a large amount of Primordial Stones for you, and those herbs you mentioned last time. I’ve got Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade ones. Come on, let’s go back and talk properly."
Wen Qingye nodded, and the two walked away side by side.
The crowd watched Wen Qingye with envy. For a Mountain Master to be so eager to curry favor with him was more than enough to prove the heights of his talent.
"Wait for me," Gao Yuerou said softly, walking up to Wen Qingye’s side.
Wen Qingye pointed at Gao Yuerou and said, "This is..."
Lil Ya glanced at Gao Yuerou, then gave Wen Qingye an understanding look and nodded. "I get it, I get it. I’m not some old fossil. It’s fine, it’s fine. Let’s go. We need to go back so I can properly tell you about the Four Mountains Martial Arts Gathering."
