Chapter 34: Chapter 33: Healing
The woman shot to the top of the tree, closing the distance to the Golden-beaked Eagle. The sword in her hand glinted with a bone-chilling light as she repeatedly unleashed streams of azure Sword Qi.
Although the Golden-beaked Eagle was nimble, its body was enormous. The woman’s Sword Qi was even swifter and fiercer, but when it struck the eagle’s body, it only left a white mark.
Seeing this, the woman couldn’t help but frown slightly, her grip on her sword tightening.
WHOOSH!
The Golden-beaked Eagle suddenly dove, pouncing toward the woman like a bolt of lightning and creating a sound that ripped through the air.
"Cyan Light Realm!"
The woman thrust out her left hand, and watery ripples shimmered into existence before her. Tinged with specks of cyan light, they formed a shield that looked just like a mirror.
BANG!
The Golden-beaked Eagle crashed into it relentlessly, creating a deafening impact. Cracks slowly began to appear on the mirror in front of the woman.
With a flick of her wrist, she executed several sword flourishes. Each flourish contained a unique essence, slowly outlining a giant, deep cyan flower that shimmered in the air, dazzlingly brilliant.
"Cyan Flower Dance!"
The cyan flower formed of Sword Qi shot toward the Golden-beaked Eagle. The eagle, still momentarily stunned, felt its demonic beast instincts scream of immense danger as the flower rushed toward it.
WHOOSH!
The Golden-beaked Eagle opened its golden beak, firing a razor-sharp golden blade of energy toward the cyan flower of Sword Qi.
The golden blade of energy shot through the air, swelling in size as it flew. By the time it was about to collide with the cyan flower, it had grown to nearly ten feet long.
BOOM!
The two attacks collided in mid-air with a tremendous explosion. The Golden-beaked Eagle was slammed into a tree and plummeted to the ground. The woman was thrown backward, hurtling directly toward Wen Qingye.
Wen Qingye instinctively pushed off the ground and caught her.
Wen Qingye frowned, then laid the woman down beside a tree. He picked up her sword. ’A Fifth Grade sword,’ he noted. ’Much better than my Ancient Moon Sword.’
Then he walked to the Golden-beaked Eagle’s side. The eagle’s body was still twitching, clearly clinging to a sliver of life.
Wen Qingye walked up to the Golden-beaked Eagle. With a quick slash of the sword, a fountain of blood erupted from its neck. The eagle’s body convulsed a few times, then went still.
Wen Qingye had no intention of letting the Golden-beaked Eagle’s blood go to waste. He positioned himself under the wound, letting the blood drench him. As the red liquid poured over his body, he instantly felt a scorching heat, as if he were bathing in boiling water. His own blood seemed to boil in response.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Wen Qingye sat down cross-legged and began circulating the Longevity Technique. The surrounding Primordial Qi surged toward him in a frenzy. He felt the ambient Primordial Qi become almost liquid, allowing him to absorb it several times faster than when cultivating with Primordial Stones.
After an unknown amount of time, Wen Qingye slowly opened his eyes. The blood that had drenched him had completely dried, and even the crimson stains had vanished without a trace.
At this moment, his cultivation had reached the peak of the Qi Cultivation Ninth Layer Heaven, just one step away from a breakthrough. After the baptism of blood, his body had also become much tougher and more powerful.
"This Golden-beaked Eagle’s blood is truly incredible. It nearly pushed me into a direct breakthrough," Wen Qingye chuckled. "But I don’t want to break through just yet."
Most people believed that the Refining Essence Realm came directly after the Qi Cultivation Ninth Layer Heaven. However, Wen Qingye knew that there was another realm above the Ninth Heaven: the Qi Cultivation Tenth Layer Heaven.
If a person cultivated all the way to the Ten Layers of Heaven in the Qi Cultivation realm, it might take more time, but it would build an incredibly solid foundation that would provide immense benefits in the future. The Qi Cultivation Tenth Layer Heaven was Wen Qingye’s true goal.
Once he reached the Qi Cultivation Tenth Layer Heaven, future breakthroughs would come naturally and much more quickly than for an ordinary cultivator.
Wen Qingye stood up and walked over to the woman. Her breathing had grown faint. He looked down at her chest; it was covered in blood, and her clothes were tattered.
Now he got a good look at her face. Her features were as exquisite as a painting, though her skin was currently deathly pale. Her long eyelashes trembled, and a trickle of blood stained the corner of her mouth. Even in her unconscious state, her dark brows were slightly knitted, a hint of pain etched onto her lovely face that made her look all the more tragically beautiful.
Wen Qingye didn’t have any Healing Medicine on him. Spotting a few vials at the woman’s waist, he picked them up, uncorked them, and took a sniff. Only then did he feel a sense of relief.
After applying the medicinal powder, Wen Qingye tore a strip from her long skirt and began to bandage her wound.
"Ngh..."
The woman whimpered. Even though Wen Qingye was being gentle, she couldn’t help but squirm in pain.
Wen Qingye frowned. "Don’t move!"
As if she had heard him, the woman stopped moving. But her brows remained tightly knitted, a sight that would stir pity in anyone’s heart.
After finishing the bandaging, Wen Qingye covered her upper body with a layer of clothing and breathed a sigh of relief. The woman’s beautiful figure exuded a powerful allure; it was a good thing Wen Qingye possessed strong self-control.
Wen Qingye knelt by the woman’s side again and channeled a steady stream of Primordial Qi from his palm into her body. Her own Primordial Qi was completely depleted, so his was like a welcome rain after a long drought.
"Mmm..."
A soul-stirring moan suddenly reached Wen Qingye’s ears. The woman felt a pleasant warmth spreading through her body, a feeling of utter comfort.
Wen Qingye bit the tip of his tongue to steady his Heart Spirit and continued to channel Primordial Qi into her body.
After a while, his forehead beaded with sweat, Wen Qingye finally stopped transferring Primordial Qi. He leaned back against a nearby tree.
Exhausted from both the baptism of the Golden-beaked Eagle’s blood and from transferring his Primordial Qi to the woman, Wen Qingye was completely spent. Leaning against the tree, he fell asleep in moments.
