Chapter 588: Chapter 376: Time to Wake Up—Let’s Burn This World to Ashes!

Why are you getting so worked up? Isn’t it just that Fafnir calls herself "brother" instead of teacher?

When Xue Dili felt puzzled, he realized that the Little Witch seemingly didn’t know Fafnir.

Theoretically, she should have seen her, but yesterday, before Xue Dili returned home, this girl was already wrapped up in a dorm room cocoon with a caterpillar and just stayed under the covers sleeping.

She was virtually unresponsive to the outside world, and when Xue Dili tried to wake her, she just said, "I don’t have to work tomorrow."

So effectively she had been sleeping from yesterday afternoon until this morning.

Therefore, she was unaware of either last night’s meeting with Fafnir or the events at home this morning, so now seeing this young girl Fafnir directly approach her with a familiar demeanor, calling herself "brother."

Susu huffed!

It’s as if something only she could say was being taken away by someone else, or like her one unique trait was being snatched.

And when Fafnir raised her head and looked into Xue Dili’s eyes, she was a little taken aback, the teacher’s left eye was normal, just as it usually looked at her.

But the teacher’s right eye... Even though it was just looking at those pale blue pupils, she felt the teacher’s left eye and right eye were completely different, seriously, like a dejected lion was unwillingly looking at her.

Especially when she couldn’t call out "teacher" at school and had to change it to "brother," that dejected lion grew larger, gradually filling the entire right eye, and like a protective kitten, huffed at this person who entered his territory.

For some reason, Fafnir just had that feeling.

"It’s nothing, let’s eat together." Xue Dili said this, he usually wore a mask at school all the time, even though it had been more than a month since his last video, it wasn’t outdated yet, taking off his mask at this time would still attract quite a bit of attention.

Besides, many people have gotten used to wearing masks due to the rampant virus from some years ago, so Xue Dili’s mask presence anywhere wasn’t abrupt, at most he’d take it off while eating.

And Xue Dili didn’t know that when he and Fafnir went to the cafeteria, resentful eyes from the lab and the literary society’s activity room were gazing this way from afar.

...

"Brother, who is she?" Susu continued to huff, despite her being somewhat naturally dazed and essentially a bigger version of the Little Dragon Lady kind of silly.

Yet, for some unknown reason, some strange sixth sense, she developed a radar-like sensitivity to any other female, and as soon as she saw Fafnir, she decided such a person couldn’t be kept around, would eventually become a huge problem.

"My little niece, what’s up?" Xue Dili immediately revealed Fafnir’s identity, "A daughter of an old friend, she’s like my little niece, or you might consider her my adopted daughter, she’s currently living at my place."

"Huh?" Susu felt her face twitching, hastily pursued, "Then where did your friend go? How could you carelessly house his daughter in someone else’s home?"

"Dead." Xue Dili calmly said this.

Even as he said it, a faint sense of loss and discomfort emerged within Xue Dili’s heart.

His emotions had somewhat recovered, yet it was adequate.

Susu immediately fell silent, opening her mouth, wanting to stubbornly continue, "Then what about her other family members? Her mother?"

"Also dead." Xue Dili spoke with utter calm, "And I was the one who killed her."

Susu completely fell silent, unsure why after Xue Dili said all this, this Little Witch no longer maintained her earlier huffing demeanor but instead curled into her cocoon, resembling a caterpillar.

"Slap!"

She firmly slapped herself. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Xue Dili: "..."

It wasn’t that bad, it wasn’t that bad...

All of them here were people without families; although it felt a bit like Hell, the truth is, Xue Dili had long adapted to this condition.

Even who his parents were, what they looked like...

Xue Dili had already forgotten; if it weren’t for the annual visits to the tombstones where he saw those unfamiliar yet familiar names, he would’ve even forgotten his parents’ names altogether.

When you’ve forgotten something long enough, you don’t really feel sad, because his farthest memory from childhood remained at that forest fire, nothing earlier could he recall at all.

No point in thinking then.

"Oh, right, I have two more daughters." Xue Dili suddenly said.

"Huh!" Susu instantly perked up, leaping from the cocoon onto the bed, crouched and with flared teeth and claws, "Who’s the mother?"

"No mother, one is a derivative of World Consciousness, the other is the Divine Tree, which is planted at your native place."

"Oh..." Susu returned back to nesting in her cocoon, suddenly feeling that although it was abstract, she too might very well be a derivative of Margaret?

In truth, wasn’t she always Margaret’s vessel?

And Margaret being the World Consciousness, didn’t that naturally place her and that yet unmeeted future "daughter" on the same side?

If Xue Dili knew she had this perspective, he might silently nod, "Actually, your IQs and thought processes might indeed be on the same level."

Lunch with Fafnir passed without incident; this young girl, inheriting her mother’s pink hair, actually had a very distinct foreign appearance, not looking Caucasian but more akin to a pale Latin look.
