Chapter 104: Silas Stoneheart....You’re Mine Now....

The warmth of the shower still clings to my skin, trapped beneath the fabric of my shirt. I button the last button slowly, my fingers moving with the drowsy weight of someone who has slept too long and too deeply.

My body feels unfamiliar in its relaxation. Joints loose. Muscles untethered. As if I’ve been unknotted from the inside.

Strange.

After sleeping too much—after sleeping with him curled against me—I feel something I can’t name.

Something soft. Something dangerous.

Silas and I slept almost the entire day on that couch. Morning bled into afternoon without either of us noticing. He stayed curled in my arms beneath the blanket, breathing slow and even, lashes resting against his cheeks, fingers curled into the fabric of my shirt like he was afraid I’d disappear if he let go.

Like a soft teddy bear wrapped in warmth.

It’s the first time I’ve slept like that. Without waking. Without the usual pressure building behind my eyes.

Just... comfortable.

A word I don’t often associate with another person.

I don’t know what to do with that.

My fingers brush the last button absently.

Then my phone buzzes on the bedside table. Sharp. Insistent. Pulling me out of the haze.

I walk toward it, pick it up, and unlock the screen.

Everic’s name glows at the top.

Ellis, are you ignoring me?

Another message follows before I can breathe.

You haven’t answered my offer. Don’t you want to be free? Like before? Do you remember?

I stare at the words.

Offer.

I had completely forgotten. Everic’s proposition—the one he’d laid out so neatly in the car, polished and precise, like a contract he’d already signed in his head.

If I let him pursue Silas, Silas would fall for him. Silas would divorce me. Silas would become his. And I would be free.

Free.

The word tastes wrong on my tongue.

I turn off the screen and set the phone back on the table. It lands with a soft, final click.

I walk out of the room.

The hallway is quiet. Evening light spills through the glass wall—golden and thick, like honey poured across the floor. The air is warm, carrying the scent of spices and something sweet drifting from the kitchen.

He’s in there.

My feet carry me forward before my mind catches up.

I step inside. My gaze finds him immediately.

He doesn’t notice me at first. He’s standing at the counter, stirring something in a pot, adjusting the flame, tasting from a spoon with a small frown of concentration.

Everything he does is careful. Deliberate. As if he’s pouring a piece of himself into every dish.

I stop. Just watching.

Does Everic really like him that much?

Or does he just want what he can’t have?

My gaze lingers on Silas. The soft curve of his shoulder. The way his hair falls across his forehead. The quiet focus in his eyes.

A man like Everic only loves his own success. His own reflection.

He would only want Silas for what he is. His beauty. His innocence. His purity.

Things meant to be admired. Possessed. And eventually discarded.

My steps are soft as I move forward.

Silas is too innocent for his own good. He trusts too easily. He believes in soft smiles and gentle words. He doesn’t see the teeth hidden behind them.

He gives people pieces of himself without asking what they’ll do with them.

If he falls for Everic...

He’ll be hurt.

I take another step.

Silas’s gaze lifts.

Finds mine. A soft smile spreads across his lips—slow, warm, unconscious, like he can’t help it. As if seeing me is the best part of his evening.

My step stops. My face remains blank. But inside... Something shifts. Something I can’t name. Something that doesn’t feel like anger.

I don’t know what I’m feeling right now. But one thing is clear.

I don’t want him...

To get hurt.

Silas sets down the spoon. Pours a glass of water. Then he walks toward me—his steps light, unhurried, carrying that same quiet grace. The soft smile never leaves his lips.

He stops in front of me and offers the glass.

I don’t take it. I just stare at him. Without blinking.

Silas blinks. Confused. He looks down at the glass, then back at me—his eyes asking a question his lips can’t form.

What’s wrong?

Take it.

I still don’t move.

His brown eyes search mine, trying to understand the strange weight hanging between us. Slowly, the smile on his lips begins to fade.

Just a little. Just at the edges.

Finally—

My hand moves. My arm slides around his waist. I pull him closer. Then closer still. Until there’s no space left between us.

Water sloshes over the rim of the glass, spilling between our bodies and soaking into both our shirts. Neither of us looks down.

Silas flinches at the sudden pull. His eyes widen—just a fraction. The glass trembles in his hand. Water drips down between our bodies, pooling in the hollow of his collarbone, sliding down the curve of his chest.

His lips part. Surprise. Confusion. Uncertainty. Like he’s trying to understand what’s happening before it happens.

Before he can move—before he can do anything—my other hand rises. I hold his chin. Tilt his face toward mine.

No one will hurt you.

Because—

I press my lips to his.

The kiss is slow. Deep. Deliberate. I feel him gasp against my mouth—a small, startled sound that disappears between us. His breath catches. His fingers slacken around the glass.

I kiss him again. Testing. Lingering on his lower lip. The same lip I marked last night. The same lip that still holds the faint shadow of my teeth.

His eyes widen more—then slowly, slowly, they close.

His breath comes uneven beneath my lips. His chest rises and falls against mine, quick and shallow, like he’s forgotten how to breathe.

My eyes don’t close.

I stay watching him. Watching the way his lashes tremble against his cheeks. Watching the flush spread across his skin. Watching the way his body softens beneath my hands—like he’s surrendering to something he doesn’t fully understand.

Because...

Silas Stoneheart.

You’re mine now.
