Chapter 43: Chapter 43: War of Civilizations
"How do you recharge your energy?"
Chen Yu looked at Sophie.
’Besides Qi, a high-tech robot like this must have other methods.’
Sophie: "Respected Human Sir, I can recover using sunlight and electromagnetic energy. The energy you previously transferred to me can also be used for recovery."
"I see..."
Chen Yu understood after hearing Sophie’s explanation.
’If sunlight is enough to recharge, then things are much simpler.’
"By the way, why were you a metal sphere before?"
Chen Yu asked.
Sophie: "My energy was completely depleted, so I reverted to my primitive protective form to avoid total destruction."
Chen Yu nodded.
"Right, you’re Glory-1. Does that mean there were other robots?"
Sophie: "There were, but they were all destroyed in the war."
’War...’
Chen Yu was instantly reminded of the ruined city in the Crane Ridge Anomaly.
’A civilization, ended just like that!’
’It’s hard to imagine how brutal a war would have to be to cause complete annihilation!’
’Will the Ancestor Star one day follow in the footsteps of the Neil Civilization?’
In the vast Starry Cosmos, the power of a single civilization was truly insignificant.
It was nothing more than a fleeting spark in the cosmos.
’Aberrant beasts, the Stellar Alien Race!’
Humanity had resisted them for a thousand years, persevering and developing the Nine Realms, which was a testament to its own strength.
But even so, there was no guarantee that human civilization wouldn’t be wiped out.
The terror of the Stellar Alien Race was far beyond imagination.
"By the way, do you have any data on the Neil Civilization’s war?" Chen Yu asked, looking at Sophie.
Sophie: "Respected Human Sir, I only have a small amount of data on the war. Most of it was lost due to the damage I sustained."
"Can I see it?" Chen Yu asked Sophie, a little excited.
Sophie nodded. Beams of light shot from her eyes, projecting a virtual screen in front of him.
Chen Yu looked at the virtual screen. On it, countless fighter jets, spaceships, and figures clad in Mechas appeared.
The sky was blood-red, as if the world itself were weeping.
"RUMBLE—!"
A series of deafening sounds erupted. A giant hand suddenly materialized in the sky, and countless Mechas and fighter jets opened fire.
Missiles and laser weapons all blasted toward the mysterious hand descending from the heavens.
However, against the mysterious hand, all their attacks seemed useless.
With a light tap from the mysterious hand, countless Mechas, fighter jets, and spaceships were torn apart like paper.
The playback stuttered at this point, then a new scene appeared.
Figures clad in silver Mechas appeared one after another.
There were at least a million of them, perhaps even more, an overwhelming tide!
Behind them, levitating warships, spaceships, and fighter jets stood in battle formation!
Among them, Chen Yu even saw the mechanical squid monsters!
These mechanical squid monsters were on humanity’s side, numerous and densely packed.
They were countless!
"ROAR—!"
Suddenly, a roar echoed as strange figures appeared in the sky.
They looked humanoid, but they were not human.
They had three eyes and a pair of flapping wings on their backs.
They were tall, more than a size larger than the human figures.
And behind these figures were innumerable aberrant beasts.
Wilderness Wolves, Taotie beasts, Iron-Winged Birds, and giant beasts as tall as King Kong swarmed across the landscape.
"Humans! Ants! They all deserve to die! Go! Exterminate these ants!"
"ROAR!!"
The roars and howls were earth-shattering as countless aberrant beasts charged toward the human side in an overwhelming flood.
"The glory of humanity will never be extinguished! The Neil Civilization will last for all eternity!"
"For the glory of humanity!"
"Kill!"
On the human side, the leader in a Mecha roared.
"KILL! KILL! KILL!"
"Humanity’s glory is eternal!"
The roars shook the heavens. Countless humans in Mechas mobilized, and the warships, spaceships, fighter jets, and mechanical squids charged forward in an overwhelming wave.
Watching this, Chen Yu was profoundly shaken!
It felt as if the blood in his veins was boiling.
’A war against the Alien Race!’
At this moment, the battle wasn’t for a single country, but for all of humankind!
’A war of species!’
The slaughter was simply to protect the glory of humanity!
’May our glory last forever!’
’A war of civilizations! A war of extinction!’
The playback made him feel as if he were there in person.
’His blood boiled with excitement!’
It was as if the fighting spirit within him had been awakened.
The playback continued but stuttered again midway through, and a new scene appeared.
The sky was dark red, filled with thunder and lightning. City after city had been reduced to ruins.
Corpses littered the ground, and blood seemed to have dyed the sky and the earth red.
In the air, only the strange, three-eyed Alien Race remained. The human figures had vanished completely.
The Neil Civilization was annihilated.
In the war against the Alien Race, the civilization of an entire world was utterly destroyed.
The screen showed nothing but ruins.
It was like hell on earth!
Their advanced weaponry was completely unable to stop the onslaught of the Alien Race and their aberrant beasts.
An entire world had been brutally crushed!
The sight of the ruins on the screen seared itself into Chen Yu’s mind.
’This is a true war of extinction!’
’An absolute gap in power. A complete curb-stomp!’
Cities collapsed, mountains and rivers were shattered, and the very continents were torn asunder...
When the playback ended, Chen Yu’s mind was in turmoil.
’The shock!’
The scenes replayed in his mind, assaulting his senses again and again.
’Just watching the recording was despair-inducing.’
’It was truly hard to imagine what it would feel like to experience it firsthand.’
’The Neil Civilization, annihilated!’
Only now did he truly witness the terror of the Stellar Alien Race.
Aberrant beasts were merely a danger within a world.
But the Alien Race... they were an existential threat to all of humanity!
"Respected Human Sir, that is all the footage I have. The rest of the data has been lost," Sophie’s voice sounded.
Chen Yu snapped back to reality, his mood still heavy.
Looking at Sophie, he asked, "What will you do now?"
Sophie: "Respected Human Sir, according to my directives before entering stasis, whoever awakens me is my new master!"
Chen Yu looked at her. "So, does that mean I’m your master?"
Sophie: "Yes, Respected Human Sir. From now on, you are Sophie’s master. Sophie will follow your path and never falter!"
Chen Yu nodded with satisfaction.
’Having a companion robot like this around wouldn’t be so boring.’
"Is your body constructed the same as a real person’s?" Chen Yu asked curiously, looking at Sophie.
Sophie nodded. "Respected Human Sir, my construction is a one-to-one replica of a human’s. In my human form, we are identical."
"Identical? Then let me see..."
Chen Yu reached out his hand.
A few minutes later, Chen Yu retracted his hand, his face flushed.
"Mm, they really are the same."
Chen Yu nodded.
"BZZZT—"
Just as Chen Yu was about to "investigate" more deeply, his Life Watch began to vibrate.
"An Ran is requesting a video call. Accept?"
"Accept!"
Chen Yu turned slightly, and a virtual screen appeared before him.
"Chen Yu, it’s about time. Hurry up, we’re just waiting for you. The location is the Mountain and Water Manor on the east side of the city."
Chen Yu nodded. "Alright, I’m on my way."
With that, he ended the video call.
Chen Yu looked at Sophie and said, "Transform into bracelet form."
"Yes!"
Sophie nodded. With a flash of light, she transformed into an exquisite, dark gold bracelet.
Chen Yu slipped the dark gold bracelet directly onto his wrist.
"It’s a good fit." Chen Yu looked at the dark gold bracelet on his wrist, quite satisfied.
It wasn’t too big or too small—a perfect fit. He tidied himself up, changed his clothes, and headed out.
