Now, Chen Yu understood why that woman named Meng Li carried herself with such an air of arrogance.
An academy under the Superpower Alliance’s banner certainly had the right to be that proud!
"Chen Yu, you might have a chance to join the Superpower Academy," Duan Feng said, turning his head to look at him.
"Me?"
Chen Yu was taken aback, then shook his head. "I haven’t thought about it. I think being a Mercenary is just fine."
Duan Feng laughed. "You kid, how can a Mercenary compare to a student at the Superpower Academy? You’ll understand once you learn more about it."
Chen Yu gave a faint smile and said nothing.
’The Superpower Academy is backed by the Superpower Alliance, so resources aren’t a concern.’

In downtown Qing City, Meng Li stood on the side of the street and watched the off-road vehicle drive away before dialing a number on her communicator.
Soon, a black sedan pulled up in front of her. The door opened, and a tall young man stepped out.
"What took you so long?"
The tall young man asked in surprise, looking at Meng Li.
Meng Li replied, "Something came up on the way. We ran into two Level 3 Wilderness Wolves."
"Huh?!"
"Are you okay?" the young man asked, his expression turning serious as he looked at Meng Li.
Meng Li shook her head. "I’m fine. We met a Qing City Mercenary Team, and they helped us take care of it. Let’s get in the car first. I have something to report."
The young man nodded, got back into the driver’s seat, and Meng Li sat down in the passenger seat.
"What is it? Don’t tell me you have intel from inside the Crane Ridge Anomaly?" the young man asked, looking at Meng Li with astonishment.
Meng Li rolled her eyes. "We haven’t even been inside. How could I have the latest intel on the Crane Ridge Anomaly?"
"Then what do you mean?" the young man asked her.
Meng Li said, "That’s not what I meant. On the way, I discovered an Awakened who looked quite young."
"An Awakened? What’s so special about that?" the young man said calmly.
Meng Li said, "But this Awakened just awakened today. And his ability is incredibly strong. He’s only a Level 1 Martial Artist, but he instantly dealt with a Level 3 Mutant Beast using his ability. Now, tell me, isn’t that impressive?"
"!!!"
"He’s that powerful?" The young man stared at Meng Li in astonishment.
Meng Li nodded. "Of course. I saw it with my own eyes."
"What kind of ability? Don’t tell me it’s a Time or Spatial Ability?" the young man asked.
Meng Li shook her head. "Neither. It’s an Ice Ability. He can freeze Mutant Beasts."
"An Ice Ability... Freezing a Mutant Beast... To be this strong right after awakening, it seems his ability has a lot of potential," the young man said.
"It certainly does," Meng Li agreed with a nod.
"Do you know who he is? Could he be from our academy?" the young man asked Meng Li.
Meng Li shook her head. "He’s not from our academy. His name is Chen Yu, and he’s from a Qing City Mercenary Team."
"A Mercenary Team?" The young man paused for a moment before snapping back to his senses. "An ability with that much potential will be wasted if he stays in a Mercenary Team."
"The higher-ups in the Mercenary Team probably don’t know yet. If they did, they would surely recommend him," Meng Li said.
The young man nodded and said, "Alright, you must be tired today. I’ll take you to rest first. Conserve your energy. Waiting for news from the Mercenary Teams and exploring the Crane Ridge Anomaly is our real mission."
With that, the young man started the car. With a ROAR of the engine, they disappeared down the street.

Twelfth Mercenary Team headquarters.
The off-road vehicle parked in the headquarters’ courtyard.
After getting out of the vehicle and handing over the "spoils of war" from the trunk, Chen Yu changed his clothes and was about to leave when Duan Feng called out to him.
"Chen Yu, wait."
Chen Yu stopped and looked at the approaching Duan Feng. "Captain Duan, is there something else?"
Duan Feng said, "The boss is waiting for you in the second-floor office. It’s probably about your awakened ability. You should go see him."
"I’ve already reported your ability to the boss. Something like this can’t be kept hidden. Don’t worry, this will definitely be good for you," Duan Feng said, patting his shoulder.
"...Alright, I’ll go see the boss then." Chen Yu nodded, said no more, and headed up the stairs to the second floor.
At the second-floor office, Chen Yu stood at the door.

Li Qing turned around, a smile spreading across his face as he looked at Chen Yu.
"Don’t be nervous. Have a seat."
Li Qing gestured with his hand. Chen Yu nodded and sat down on the sofa.
Li Qing came forward, poured him a cup of hot water, and sat down beside him. "You kid, I never would have guessed. You’re an Awakened!"
Chen Yu scratched his head. "I don’t know what happened either. I just suddenly awakened today."
Li Qing looked at him, blinked, and said, "Duan Feng already told me about your ability. To be honest, I’m curious too. Can you show me?"
"Here?"
Chen Yu looked at Li Qing, stunned.
Li Qing nodded. "Just a small demonstration will do."
"Yes, use this cup of hot water," Li Qing said, pointing to the cup.
Seeing this, Chen Yu didn’t hesitate. He put on a show of blowing out a breath of air as he activated his Freezing Skill.
A blast of cold air swept out, instantly freezing the cup. The hot water turned to solid ice, and a thick layer of frost formed on the cup itself.

With a shattering sound, a crack appeared on the frozen cup. The crack spread, and the cup broke apart completely.
Although Chen Yu had intentionally tried to reduce its power, the might of his Middle Level Freezing Skill was still immense even when controlled.

Staring at the shattered cup, Li Qing’s pupils contracted.
After a long moment, he finally came to his senses.
