Chapter 177: Chapter 95: South Sea Incident, Mechanical Energy
In an instant, more than a dozen Level 6 squid monsters appeared.
The other squid-like mutant beasts swarmed together in a frenzy. Seen from the sky, the vast horde of squid monsters was a terrifying sight.
"Good. Come on, the more the better."
Chen Yu was inwardly delighted to see so many squid-like mutant beasts appear.
This wave would likely net him tens of millions of Source of Life points.
"BOOM!!!"
The ground trembled as thick clouds of dust billowed into the air. The walls of the surrounding city streets were instantly destroyed.
A five-hundred-meter-tall giant appeared.
As its eight arms danced, the numerous half-mechanical squid monsters charged forward in a frenzy.
But they couldn’t even get close before they were brutally torn to shreds.
Unleashing Senluo’s Fury, his five-hundred-meter-tall form made Chen Yu look like a world-ending deity.
All buildings before him were pulverized like paper.
Destructive rays of energy attacked from all directions, but Chen Yu’s movements were incredibly swift.
Combined with his Divine Speed Power Skill, he was nothing short of a high-speed god of destruction.
RUMBLE—!!!
More than half the ruined city was destroyed as powerful Vibration Waves swept out in all directions.
Faced with the horde of mechanical squid monsters, Chen Yu chose to meet them head-on.
This was probably the most satisfying battle he’d had in over two months.
He could fight without any restraints.
Countless mechanical squids were torn to pieces, their wreckage littering the ground.
Yet these half-mechanical life forms showed no fear, continuing their charge.
This was exactly what Chen Yu had hoped for.
——
BOOM!!!
A pillar of dust shot into the sky. The ruined city had been almost completely leveled.
The wreckage of giant, half-mechanical squid monsters was visible everywhere.
In a matter of moments, Chen Yu had cleared the ruined city of all the Neil squids.
After the complete cleanup, his body returned to its normal size.
Staring at the ruins before him, Chen Yu activated his Force Field to scan every corner of the city.
’If I’m going to take care of this, I might as well be thorough.’
These Abyss mutant beasts were the best Source of Life for him, but if they ever escaped the Crane Ridge Abyss, the damage they would cause would be on a Destruction Level.
They could even destroy a city the size of Qing City.
’Twenty-eight million...’
Watching his Source of Life points climb, Chen Yu let out a satisfied sigh.
To gain over twenty million—nearly thirty million—Source of Life points right after entering was a pleasant surprise.
After scanning every part of the ruined city and confirming he hadn’t missed anything, Chen Yu continued exploring further away.
’Since I’m here, I have to go for a big score.’
With his current strength, he had nothing to fear from anything below Level 9.
Even against a Level 9 Mutant Beast, if things got desperate, he could always play his trump card.
The Life Secret Medicine he carried was his ultimate safety net.
——
He flew onward using his Force Field, cutting through the air as he ventured deeper.
Completely exploring an entire Abyss World was impossible, but scouting out certain areas was no problem at all.
Soon, Chen Yu arrived at a second abandoned city.
The wreckage of airplanes, spaceships, and cars was strewn everywhere.
It was a scene of utter post-apocalyptic ruin.
But by now, Chen Yu was used to such sights.
After seeing it so many times, he had grown accustomed to it.
His Force Field scan showed no signs of mutant beast auras in this ruined city.
Not a single one. The entire ruined city was like a ghost town.
It was eerily quiet.
’Something’s not right.’ With mutant beasts running rampant throughout the Crane Ridge Anomaly, this was highly unusual.
Finding a place like this devoid of mutant beasts was the real problem.
"Sir!"
Just as he was about to continue his exploration, Sophie’s voice suddenly rang out.
"Hm?"
Chen Yu stopped. On his wrist, Sophie, who had been in the form of a metal bracelet, shifted into her humanoid shape.
"What is it?" Chen Yu asked, looking at Sophie.
Normally, Sophie remained quiet unless he addressed her first. It was rare for her to speak up on her own.
After all, Sophie was just a robot—a highly intelligent one, but a robot nonetheless.
Sophie looked toward a dilapidated building in the distance. "Sir, there’s a source of mechanical energy over there."
"?"
’Mechanical energy?’
Chen Yu stared at the abandoned building Sophie was pointing to, stunned for a moment.
He immediately scanned it with his Force Field and sensed something unusual inside the derelict structure.
Deep within the ruined building were several large canisters, and inside them was a thick, ink-like liquid.
It looked like crude oil, but after a closer scan, Chen Yu realized it wasn’t oil at all, merely something that looked similar.
’Could this be the mechanical energy Sophie was talking about?’
’But what does this stuff do?’
"What’s this mechanical energy used for?" Chen Yu asked Sophie.
Sophie replied, "Sir, this is mechanical energy from the Neil Civilization. It allows me to grow, to upgrade my systems, and become more powerful."
"Really?!"
Chen Yu’s eyes lit up when he heard her explanation.
Sophie nodded. "Yes, Sir. This mechanical energy is sustenance for us robots."
"Let’s go, we’ll check it out."
Chen Yu snapped back to reality. With Sophie in tow, he flickered out of sight and reappeared deep inside the ruined building.
It was a relatively well-preserved basement.
Inside the basement stood three large canisters, each taller than a man.
They were filled with the dark liquid Sophie had called mechanical energy.
"This stuff won’t be easy to carry," Chen Yu said, his gaze shifting from the three large canisters to Sophie.
Sophie smiled. "Sir, Sophie can absorb this mechanical energy."
"There’s so much. Can you absorb it all?" Chen Yu asked curiously.
Sophie nodded. "Yes, Sir. It’s not a problem for me."
Chen Yu looked at her and said, "So if you absorb this mechanical energy, you’ll be able to achieve Evolution?"
"Not necessarily. I’ll have to absorb it to find out," Sophie replied.
Chen Yu nodded. "Alright, go ahead and absorb it."
Sophie then stepped forward. She extended her pristine white hand, which morphed into a sharp blade and easily pierced one of the canisters.
But the liquid didn’t gush out as he’d expected; it was almost like a solid. Sophie plunged her hand directly into the canister, and her body immediately began to glow.
Seeing this, Chen Yu’s eyes lit up again.
If Sophie could complete her system upgrade and achieve Evolution, it would be a huge boon for him.
Soon, Sophie had absorbed every last drop of mechanical energy from the large canister.
The glow from Sophie’s body intensified, but then it quickly faded.
Then, Sophie moved on to absorb the mechanical energy from the second canister.
Chen Yu didn’t disturb her, simply watching quietly from the side.
