Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Group Kill, Martial Methods
"WHOOSH—!"
A powerful Qi was unleashed, and a wave of might spread out.
With a single slash, he sent a three-meter-long blade of Qi flying through the air.
"AWOOO—!"
Sensing the danger, the dozen or so Wilderness Wolves roared in unison as the light radiating from their bodies suddenly intensified.
A faint, shimmering phantom appeared.
"BOOM—!"
The blade of Qi landed with a blast, and a powerful shockwave swept through the area.
The dozen or so Wilderness Wolves were knocked back, the light on their bodies dimming.
"FWOOSH—!"
Chen Yu seized the opportunity, pulled the pin on a grenade, and hurled the black explosive right into the center of the wolf pack.
"BOOM—!!!"
A massive explosion erupted. A fierce wind howled as the shockwave pulsed outwards.
Half of the Wilderness Wolves were killed instantly by the blast.
The remaining wolves were also injured, their fur charred black.
"AWOOO—!!"
Just then, an even louder howl rang out. It was the Level 3 Wilderness Wolf.
As it howled, the remaining Wilderness Wolves seemed to be affected, their eyes turning crimson.
In mid-air, the phantom of a Wilderness Wolf materialized, scattering specks of light.
The light fell upon the remaining wolves, and their injuries healed with astonishing speed.
Moreover, their auras grew even stronger!
"Fuck, they have an ability like this?!"
Chen Yu’s heart skipped a beat as he witnessed the scene.
Group Healing!
This Level 3 Wilderness Wolf has a healer function?!
"ROAR!!!"
With a roar, the fully restored Wilderness Wolves were covered in a faint glow, and half of them charged forward.
They were like dump trucks, kicking up clouds of dust.
"Hurricane Slash!"
Tie Niu roared, pouring his Qi into the Vibrating Gold Battle Blade. He swung, sending a three-meter blade of Qi cleaving through the air.
"BOOM—!"
The slash knocked back the pack. Several Wilderness Wolves were sent flying, the light around them dimming slightly as wounds appeared, but that same light seemed to possess a healing property, closing the wounds at a visible rate.
"*TINK*~"
Chen Yu pulled out another grenade, yanked the pin, and threw it directly at the six injured Wilderness Wolves.
BOOM—!!!
Flames surged once more and the shockwave spread, sending the six Wilderness Wolves flying.
"Kid, be a little more frugal. Don’t be so wasteful." Tie Niu’s eyelid twitched.
Chen Yu grinned but said nothing.
He had already used two of his three grenades.
But the rewards were plentiful.
The grenades had killed fifteen Wilderness Wolves in total, granting him a sudden surge of twenty-eight points of Source of Life.
He now had enough Source of Life for his second Evolution.
However, now was not the time to evolve. There were still three Wilderness Wolves left to deal with.
With fifteen Wilderness Wolves killed, the Group Will Skill was broken, and the light surrounding the remaining ones vanished.
Grasping his Vibrating Gold Battle Blade, Chen Yu charged toward one of the wolves.
Gale Knife Skill—Gale Slash!
He activated his Qi, and his blade gleamed. Since he had not yet reached the level of a Level 2 Martial Artist, he was still unable to project his Qi externally.
But this was more than enough for this Wilderness Wolf.
"SQUELCH—"
The first slash tore through its hide, drawing blood. The second followed immediately after, and the wolf’s head fell, cleanly severed, as a torrent of blood gushed out.
The headless Wilderness Wolf collapsed to the ground.
He gained another point of Source of Life.
The other two Wilderness Wolves were finished off by Tie Niu.
Not far away, three people sat on the ground, panting heavily.
"Thanks, brother."
One of them stood up and spoke.
Tie Niu waved his hand. "Don’t mention it. We’re all on the same side."
Chen Yu moved to the side, his gaze fixed on the battle in the distance.
Now, only the last Wilderness Wolf remained.
It was also the most powerful one.
A Level 3 Wilderness Wolf. Its strength surpassed even that of a dozen-plus wolves empowered by the Group Will Skill.
He couldn’t interfere in a battle like this.
One wrong move could mean death.
The only Third-level Martial Artist was Duan Feng, and only he could fight the Level 3 Wilderness Wolf.
"AWOOO—!"
The wolf howled, and the light around its body erupted.
"SHING SHING SHING!!!"
Countless Wind Blades burst forth, invisible projectiles slashing rapidly toward Duan Feng.
"Martial Art—Guardian!"
With a low shout, Duan Feng erupted with a cyan light, which formed a protective cyan barrier around his entire body.
"CLANG CLANG CLANG!!!"
The Wind Blade attacks struck the cyan barrier and were completely neutralized.
"ROAR—!!"
Seeing this, the black Wilderness Wolf let out a roar, its gaze suddenly shifting to Chen Yu and the others.
"!!!"
Just one look sent a chill bursting from the depths of their hearts. It was as if the Death God itself had fixed its gaze upon them, making their skin crawl and their scalps tingle.
"Martial Art—Vitality Burst!"
At that moment, a shimmering Qi Light Group condensed between Duan Feng’s hands. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled it at the black Wilderness Wolf.
"GRRR—!"
With a low growl, an eerie light condensed around the Wilderness Wolf, rapidly forming something like a shield.
"RUMBLE—!!!"
A tremendous boom echoed as a visible shockwave swept through the area. The ground shook and the earth cracked.
The explosion was even more powerful than a grenade.
Even from a hundred meters away, they could feel the blast wave.
"BANG—!"
The massive Wilderness Wolf was sent flying more than ten meters, bleeding profusely.
"SWOOSH—!"
The attack had inflicted considerable damage on the black Wilderness Wolf. It scrambled to its feet and sprinted away into the distance.
"That martial art is so powerful!"
Chen Yu was utterly shocked as he watched this unfold.
’Damn, that’s several times more powerful than a grenade!’
’Even a Level 3 Wilderness Wolf couldn’t take it.’
It was only now that Chen Yu truly witnessed the power of a strong Martial Artist.
It was a very direct demonstration!
’Compared to him, the difference is like night and day. A complete curb stomp!’
’I have to learn martial arts like that in the future,’ Chen Yu thought to himself.
’That kind of power... I have to learn it!’
’It’s like conjuring grenades out of thin air!’
’No, it’s even more amazing than conjuring grenades!’
’If it got any stronger, it might even reach the power of conjuring a nuke. That wouldn’t be impossible.’
The Wilderness Wolf fled, but Duan Feng didn’t give chase. His face was a little pale; it seemed the attack had taken a great toll on him.
Chen Yu and Tie Niu snapped back to their senses and quickly went over to Duan Feng.
"Captain Duan, are you alright?"
Duan Feng shook his head and let out a breath. A bit of color returned to his pale face.
"I’m not dead yet. Just a bit drained."
Just then, the other three people also came over.
"Thank you, Captain Duan." The three of them bowed to Duan Feng. If they hadn’t run into him by chance, they would have been dead for sure.
At that moment, the roar of a car engine came from the distance.
They looked over and saw two military-style SUVs speeding toward them.
"It’s your team. You’re safe now," Duan Feng said. The three of them breathed a sigh of relief.
The two SUVs quickly pulled up in front of them. The doors opened, and five people got out.
Their expressions turned grave as they saw the Wilderness Wolf corpses on the ground.
The leader was a woman, around thirty years old, dressed in a black form-fitting uniform that perfectly outlined her curvy, well-proportioned figure.
Looking at Duan Feng and his group, the woman stepped forward, followed by the four people behind her.
"Captain," the three survivors said immediately upon seeing the newcomers.
The woman nodded, then turned her gaze to Duan Feng’s group. Her eyes swept past Chen Yu and Tie Niu before landing on Duan Feng. "Duan Feng, thank you. My Team 9 owes you one."
"Don’t mention it. We should just get together more often when we have the time," Duan Feng said with a grin.
"We’ll definitely get together when we have time." The woman nodded, then ordered, "Get them in the vehicles."
The people behind her helped the three injured survivors into the SUVs. The woman looked at Duan Feng. "Want to ride with us?"
"No need. We can just meet up alone next time. A crowd is no fun. I prefer to be alone," Duan Feng said with a beaming smile.
"..."
"Try not to get yourself killed." The woman said coldly, then got into the vehicle as well. The engines roared, and they sped away.
