Chapter 121: Annoyed

"Shit..." Denzel muttered beneath his breath as his eyes scanned the first few lines of the letter.

The single curse immediately caught Antonia’s attention.

Her brows knitted together as she leaned forward ever so slightly.

"’Shit?’ What do you mean by ’shit?’ What are you seeing?"

Denzel let out a slow groan, his head tilting back as he rolled his eyes toward the ceiling.

One finger lightly rubbed against his temple.

’Alright... just when I thought I’d solved one problem, another one decides to show up.’

While he was lost in thought, Antonia quietly turned the letter back toward herself.

She narrowed her eyes, slowly moving the page from side to side beneath the light, carefully examining every inch of it.

Nothing.

Not a single word.

After another few seconds, she finally lowered the page and looked back at Denzel.

"Why did you say ’shit?’"

Denzel blinked at her.

A look of genuine confusion crossed his face.

"What...? You can’t see it? You can’t see anything written on the letter?"

Still kneeling on the floor, Aisha quickly shuffled forward on her knees until she was beside Antonia.

"Let me see."

She leaned over the letter, studying it carefully.

Her eyes swept from top to bottom...

Then back again.

After several moments, she slowly shook her head.

"There’s nothing on it."

Antonia gently tapped one finger against the edge of the paper, deep in thought.

"If neither of us can see anything... then this has to be some sort of magical orchestration. Whoever created this letter must’ve enchanted it so that only you can read what’s written on it."

Her curious eyes met his once again.

"So... what does it say?"

Silence.

Denzel swallowed quietly.

Not because he was afraid.

Far from it.

If anything...

He was annoyed.

Deeply annoyed.

’I seriously can’t catch a damn break, can I?’

After letting out a slow breath, he finally answered.

"Let me read the rest of the letter first."

Without another word, Antonia carefully unfolded the page once more and held it open for him.

Denzel’s eyes drifted past the first few glowing sentences before slowly settling on the final lines near the bottom of the page.

[I don’t intend to do anything important.

I don’t intend to take much from you.

I only ask for one thing.

Find me.]

Beneath those words rested an unfamiliar sigil.

At first glance, it resembled the letter E, slightly tilted to one side.

The lower stroke stretched outward, gradually sharpening into something resembling the tip of an arrow.

Encircling the entire symbol was a perfectly drawn ring.

Simple.

Yet strangely unsettling.

Denzel stared at it for several long seconds.

No matter how hard he searched his memory...

He couldn’t recognize it.

Not even slightly.

Without another word, he slowly looked away before giving Antonia a small gesture with his eyes, silently telling her to put the letter away.

She lowered the scroll, but her gaze never left his face.

"What about everything you just read? Aren’t you going to tell us?"

"It’s nothing."

"It didn’t sound like nothing."

Denzel slowly turned his head until their eyes met.

His expression remained completely calm.

"It’s nothing."

The firmness behind those two words made it clear he had no intention of saying anything more.

Antonia continued staring at him for another few seconds before finally giving up.

With a quiet sigh, she rolled the letter back into a scroll and tucked it away.

Silence settled over the room.

The only sound left was the faint drip of healing water falling back into its cup.

After another moment, Denzel shifted his gaze toward Aisha.

"You..."

The instant she noticed him looking at her, she immediately straightened her back.

Her hands rested neatly upon her lap.

"Yes, Master?"

"What about Patrick? Where is he?"

Aisha’s bright expression dimmed.

She lowered her gaze toward the floor.

"I... honestly don’t know."

Antonia’s eyes widened.

She stared at Aisha as though she’d just heard something impossible.

"Wait... what? You don’t know where your own son is?"

"I rushed here the moment I heard that Master had been injured."

Denzel quietly watched her.

A faint smile almost threatened to appear before disappearing just as quickly.

’Although I’m glad she chose me over Patrick... that’s quite the reward waiting for her once all of this is over.’

"You don’t wish to go find him?" Denzel asked.

"I do," Aisha answered without hesitation. "But only after I’m certain that you’re completely safe, Master."

Antonia blinked.

Then blinked again.

Finally, she couldn’t hold it back anymore.

"Master? What is all this ’Master’ shit?"

The room instantly grew colder.

Aisha slowly turned her head.

Her eyes locked onto Antonia as a thunderous glare crashed into her.

Antonia immediately stiffened.

Her shoulders instinctively shrank as she hurriedly lowered her head and averted her eyes.

She wasn’t about to risk losing her job over something like this.

’Does Denzel have some sort of dirt on the boss?’ she wondered.

"Sorry... sorry," Antonia muttered, hurriedly flicking her eyes away as a hint of embarrassment crept onto her face.

Denzel watched her for a brief moment before calmly asking, "How long would you say it’ll take before I’m fully recovered through your healing?"

Antonia tilted her head slightly as she considered the question.

"Well... I don’t know about fully recovered. But you should be good to go in a few hours."

One of Denzel’s eyebrows slowly rose.

"’Good to go?’ What exactly do you mean by ’good to go?’"

Antonia gave a small shrug.

"The statement sort of speaks for itself."

Denzel remained quiet for another moment, seemingly weighing something in his mind, before asking, "Will I be able to move my hips in those few hours?"

Antonia blinked once.

Then twice.

’...That’s sort of a weird question.’

Still, she answered him honestly.

"I suppose you will. I mean, if you should be able to walk by then... I think you should."

A slow smile gradually spread across Denzel’s face.

The corners of his lips curled upward ever so slightly.

"That’s all I needed to hear."

With that, he turned his attention toward Aisha.

"You can go find Patrick now. Don’t worry. Your Master will be fine. You did very well today, Aisha."

The instant those words reached her ears, Aisha’s expression completely brightened.

Her eyes widened with delight as a deep crimson blush rapidly spread across her cheeks.

She looked as though she could barely contain her happiness.

"Really?" she asked, her voice filled with hopeful excitement.

Denzel smiled gently at her.

"Yes... really. Just go find Patrick. Don’t worry about me. And besides..."

His smile slowly deepened, carrying a meaning that only the two of them truly understood.

"There’ll be a stream of other rewards waiting for you in the very near future."

The meaning behind those words struck Aisha almost immediately.

Her already flushed cheeks somehow grew even redder.

Her breathing caught softly in her throat, and her heart pounded so hard she could almost hear it herself.

Her fingers instinctively intertwined in front of her chest as she gazed at him with overflowing affection.

All she could manage to whisper was,

"Oh... Master..."

At that moment, it genuinely felt as though all the love in the world had been poured into her heart at once, leaving her completely overwhelmed and showered by warmth and happiness.

But that wasn’t the only thing he intended to shower on her.
