Chapter 309: Journey

"So my father was the one who asked you to come to me and ask for my help?" Richard said with an expression that did not know whether to laugh or cry.

This was truly the desperate act of a man who had reached the end of his rope.

Perhaps he was too ashamed to ask Richard for help in person.

Charles Skylight gave a slight nod without saying anything, as though even he found it difficult to admit.

"Uncle, do you really think that’s what I want?" Richard asked.

His uncle probably assumed that, as their son, he secretly longed for a real family.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. He wasn’t the original Richard. He was a man from Earth living as Richard.

To him, both of his parents were no different from strangers.

He didn’t care about their lives, especially his mother.

Charles was unable to answer the question.

He looked somewhat at a loss.

"Tell him that I might help if he pays me with something truly valuable right now. But in my eyes, only something like the Skylight Sword is valuable enough."

Hearing that, Charles could only nod.

"I’ll tell him," he said before turning around and leaving.

Richard shook his head before walking back into his house.

He wasn’t in a hurry to leave. He wanted to relax on the living room sofa first.

Besides, he was certain the White Ancestor would come.

Click!

The door opened again just after it had been closed.

As expected, the white raven walked inside.

"Boy, you don’t want to help your father?" the White Ancestor asked.

"Ancestor, do you also want me to help him?" Richard asked in return.

"My duty is to do everything I can for this clan. Naturally, I want another member to reach the Peak Ancient Sovereign Realm. In the end, that’s what truly strengthens the clan, because a Grand Sovereign will eventually leave this world," the White Ancestor answered honestly.

"When I become a Grand Sovereign, I’ll provide enough resources to raise several Peak Ancient Sovereigns," Richard replied.

"Resources alone aren’t enough. Your father’s potential is extraordinary. He could reach the same level as the Chaos Master of the Order of Heaven Emperor."

"I think that’s just an exaggeration. How can someone capable of achieving greatness become so broken just because of a woman?" Richard sneered.

"Well, it’s obvious you have no intention of helping."

"Let’s leave everything to fate. If they’re destined to reunite, they’ll naturally reunite." Richard remained completely indifferent even while talking about his own parents’ fate.

"By the way, Ancestor, I’d like a few drops of your blood," he added.

"My blood? What for?" the White Ancestor asked in surprise.

"I need it. You’re not going to be that stingy, are you? Just a few drops."

"Hmph, boy. You wouldn’t even give me the blood I wanted."

"How can those be compared? The difference in value is beyond imagination." Richard shook his head.

"Of course, it’s fine if you refuse..." he added.

"Fine..."

The White Ancestor couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

After all, he also hoped Richard would succeed in the future, so he wanted to earn a favor from him.

He tossed Richard a small bottle already containing dark golden blood, though it naturally couldn’t compare to the blood of the Skylight Grand Sovereign.

Richard smiled and stored it away.

It wasn’t because he had any special use for the White Ancestor’s blood. Rather, the Deep Sea Octopus Ancestor, whom he had fought before, wanted a single drop of it for research.

He had promised to exchange it for something valuable. Naturally, Richard wanted to see what he could offer. If it wasn’t worth it, then there would be no deal.

"Thanks..." Richard smiled as he put the bottle away.

"So, what’s your plan now, boy?" the White Ancestor asked.

"I’m heading to the Land of Spirit to meet the Fire Spirit Queen..." Richard answered.

"Ancestor, is there anything you can give me for my journey there?" he asked.

"What else could I possibly give you? Besides, I’m short on treasures myself. If you really want treasures, go see your ancestress," he replied.

"I won’t see her again until I’m strong enough," Richard answered.

"Well then, I suppose I shouldn’t waste any more time. I’ll be leaving now."

He stood up.

The White Ancestor frowned slightly but remained silent, making no attempt to stop him.

"Little Brother, you’re leaving already?" Olivia happened to arrive just then.

Even though she had been upset earlier because Richard hadn’t let her rest, she seemed to have already forgotten about it.

"Yeah..." Richard simply nodded.

"Isn’t that too soon? Besides, I need your help," she said.

"No, I can’t. I’m busy..."

Richard refused immediately.

He stepped outside and flew toward the portal.

No one could stop him.

After passing through the portal, he appeared above the sea once again.

Whoosh!

He flew east at full speed, with no intention of returning to the mainland before reaching the Land of Spirit.

He didn’t conceal his aura.

If the Deep Sea Octopus Ancestor was still somewhere in these waters, he would sense it.

Richard continued flying over the vast ocean at his maximum speed.

Although the Land of Spirit and the Land of Humans were neighboring continents, the distance between them was still enormous.

Even at his greatest speed, the journey would still take more than twelve hours.

The wind grew increasingly violent the farther he traveled from land, strong enough to push him off course little by little.

Gigantic waves constantly surged across the sea, each worthy of being called a massive tsunami.

Then, in the distance, Richard noticed an enormous disturbance.

A colossal whirlpool spun violently, creating a gigantic storm that reached into the sky.

One enormous golden tentacle after another emerged from its depths.

Richard smiled strangely, knowing they belonged to the Deep Sea Octopus Ancestor.

Compared to the last time they met, he had become much larger.

It wasn’t long before Richard saw the octopus’s head, adorned with a golden crown.

’He’s basically at the Ruler Realm now,’ Richard thought.

Looking carefully, every one of his tentacles had countless smaller branches covered with razor-sharp golden spikes.

"Richard Skylight..."

His voice echoed across the sea with overwhelming majesty, causing the air itself to tremble.

It wasn’t intentional arrogance.

That was simply his natural voice.

A moment later, his enormous body rapidly shrank until he became an ordinary-looking old man.

"Ahem..." He cleared his throat.

His voice immediately became hoarse.

"Richard, did you bring what I asked for?" he asked.

"Yeah..." Richard casually displayed the bottle containing the dark golden blood.

"You only need a single drop, right?" he asked.

"Of course. But it depends on what you’re offering. If it’s only something of equal value, I might not be interested. I need something truly worthwhile."

The old man frowned.

He seemed rather pessimistic about what he could offer.

"I have a Tier 7 weapon..."

"Octopus Ancestor, Tier 7 weapons are the least interesting things to me," Richard replied with a shake of his head.

He stored the bottle away again with a grin, curiously watching his reaction.

Richard wasn’t afraid of him. He was confident that if they fought again, he would win.

"Could you help me just this once? I truly need it..." He pleaded politely instead of becoming angry.

"Don’t you have anything else?" Richard asked.

"I don’t possess any treasures more valuable than Tier 7 weapons. I have two of them, and I use one myself," he replied.

"Once I’ve studied the White Ancestor’s blood, I’ll definitely become stronger. Then I’ll be able to help you during the future war for the World Magic Aether," he added.

Richard stroked his chin, remaining silent for a moment.

Naturally, he wouldn’t lose anything by giving him a single drop of blood.

Even so, he still wanted a worthwhile profit.

A mere Tier 7 weapon wasn’t enough to count as one.

After thinking for a while, he finally said, "I’m heading to the Land of Spirit. If you find something truly worthwhile, come see me again."

Whoosh!

He immediately shot away at his maximum speed.

Out of generosity?

No.

He had no interest in being generous to an octopus.

The other party was a Primordial Beast with an Ancestor Bloodline.

Richard was quite certain that as long as he tried hard enough, he could come up with something worth trading.

Just by watching Richard’s speed, he immediately realized that he couldn’t catch up, even while traveling beneath the sea.

He could only frown, fully aware that he couldn’t afford to offend the Skylight Clan.

He began pondering what he could possibly offer Richard in exchange. Before he realized it, six hours had passed.

The weather above the sea was scorching hot, yet the ocean itself continued to churn out endless waves in every direction.

Richard wasn’t sure what was causing it.

Deep beneath the surface, the auras of countless gigantic beasts could be sensed.

Even after traveling this far, there was still no sign of land.

Richard knew he had only completed half of the journey.
